It’s something people often say when they see someone traveling, enjoying their work, or living life on their own terms.

What that phrase misses is the years behind the scenes.

The low-paying jobs. The late nights. The side projects. The studying, networking, and persistence when nothing felt guaranteed.

Calling it luck cheapens the effort it took to get there.

Yes, luck exists. But most people you label as “lucky” didn’t stumble into a life they enjoy. They built it slowly, often uncomfortably. 

So maybe the better question isn’t who got "lucky". 

Maybe it’s what kind of effort we’re willing to commit to working overtime to build the life we want for ourselves.

There's enough worries and stress in your day-to-day life surrounding work, friends, relationships, family, money, and everything else in between.

Don't let the daily ebbs and flows of social media contribute negatively to your well-being in addition to all of that.

Me: Cool cool cool. Then maybe stop notifying me when someone I met once at a conference in 2019 edits their headline?

LinkedIn: Not a chance. Also, they just edited it again! You almost missed it 🙂

Me: Alright. Last thing. Why do my posts randomly explode one week and vanish the next?

Linkedln: Oh that? We spin a giant wheel every morning. Yours just didn't land on "visible" today. Now gimme 600 bucks for Premium.

There’s this company I’d love to work with.. 

The work looks great.

The people seem great.

The vibes? You guessed it. Great. 

One tiny issue though. They're not remote-friendly.

And I am.. Extremely remote-friendly.

So instead, I just quietly observe.

I see their team posting wins.

Sharing behind-the-scenes moments.

And I’m over here like.. 

I want to work with you! 

I would do such a good job 😌

But I say nothing.

I just like the post.

Maybe leave a supportive comment. 

And continue living my life like a normal, well-adjusted professional.

No personality.

No humor.

No signs you might be an actual human being with a life outside of KPIs.
