"I can't eat bananas... they are too high in sugar. They'll make me fat."

A VP at one of the Big Four said this to me yesterday; midway through his third protein bar.

Let me break this down ⤵️

His daily "healthy" snacks:

3 protein bars (~210 cal/bar) 

I asked to see the wrapper.

14g protein? Great. 
12g fiber? Sure. 

But also: Erythritol, sucralose, palm kernel oil, and 14 other ingredients I needed Google to pronounce.

Meanwhile, a medium banana:

- 14g natural sugar 
- ~105 calories 
- 422mg potassium (more than any protein bar)
- 3g fiber 
- Zero mysterious chemicals

But sure, the banana is the problem 🙄

📌 Here's what drives me crazy:

We've demonized whole foods while glorifying processed "health" products.

That protein bar? 

Your gut bacteria have no idea what to do with those sugar alcohols... Hello bloating, gas, and digestive chaos. 🫠 

The banana? 

Your body has been processing it for thousands of years. 

It knows EXACTLY what to do.

You avoid fruit like it's poison?

Then wonder why you're: 

→ Constantly hungry by 3pm 
→ Energy crashing despite 4 espressos 
→ Craving sweets after every meal 
→ Bloated from your "healthy" bars

Here's what happened when he swapped protein bars for fruits + nuts: 

-Better workouts, no afternoon crash 
-Down 5 lbs, zero bloating after the first week

"I can't believe I was scared of fruit."

Why this works:

✅ Natural sugars + fiber = steady energy release 
✅ Potassium = better muscle function and recovery 
✅ B6 = supports brain function
✅ Real food = happy gut bacteria 
✅ Nuts = healthy fats to slow absorption

The fitness industry convinced you fruit is bad while selling you $4 bars full of:

-Corn syrup
-Milk protein isolate
-Seed oil
-"Natural flavors" (aka chemical mystery 👀 )

Make it make sense.

After 5 years coaching executives, here's what I know:

The healthiest people eat real food. Including fruit. 

❌ Stop fearing food that grows on trees. 

✅ Start questioning food made in factories.

Your energy will thank you.

If you are a high-performing leader who eats healthy… yet still struggles to lose fat. These 7 foods are often why.

Many founders and executives I work with eat relatively healthy...

But a few foods quietly add hundreds of extra calories a day.

When your days are packed with meetings, travel, and long hours, these things slip through the cracks.

Here are the most common ones I see.

1️⃣ Granola

Supermarket granola is often marketed as “natural” or “high protein.”
In reality, many are loaded with sugars and seed oils.

A small bowl can easily reach 400–500 calories before your day has even started.

2️⃣ Flavoured “Greek” yogurt

Flavoured yogurts often contain as much sugar as dessert and tons of unnecessary additives.

And watch the wording: “Greek-style” is not the same as plain Greek yogurt.

3️⃣ Avocados

Incredibly nutritious. But also very calorie-dense.

One avocado can reach 250–300 calories, so for many people ½ is more than enough.

4️⃣ Protein bars

Most contain 250–300+ calories.

For busy professionals, they often become a quick snack between meetings, but they can slow fat loss more than people realize.

Also, most of them are full of crap.

5️⃣ Nuts

Very healthy, BUT extremely calorie-dense.

A handful can quickly turn into 350–500 calories during a busy day.

6️⃣ Olive oil

One of the healthiest fats you can consume. But it’s also highly calorie-dense.

Just one tablespoon = ~120 calories, and it’s very easy to pour 200–300 calories onto an otherwise lean meal without noticing.

7️⃣ Liquid calories

Juices, protein shakes, “healthy” lattes…

They can pack hundreds of calories without making you feel full.

When fat loss is the goal, it’s usually smarter to eat your calories rather than drink them.

➡️ The truth is simple:

Fat loss rarely fails because of one big mistake.

It fails because of small daily habits that quietly compound.

Almost every CEO I coach has the same health problem... But nobody talks about it.

Not publicly.

✖️ It’s not burnout.

It’s something worse...

I have been coaching C-level executives and founders for the last 5 years, on paper, they looked unstoppable.

⚡ Companies growing.
⚡ Teams scaling.
⚡ Calendars full weeks in advance.

But behind closed doors I kept seeing the same pattern:

→ Back pain from sitting all day
→ 10kg gained over a few years
→ Constant fatigue despite coffee
→ Brain fog during important decisions
→ Physically present with family, mentally still at work
→ Interrupted sleep at 3am thinking about the company

❌ These are not lazy people. Quite the opposite.

Many have gym memberships, home gyms, and even personal trainers.

❓ So what’s actually happening?

One of my tech CEOs told me something I’ll never forget:

“Soraya, every part of my business is optimized… except my health.”

And he was right.

➡️  The executive health trap:

1️⃣ Your calendar kills movement
Back-to-back meetings. Sitting 10+ hours a day.
2️⃣ Exhaustion is normalized
Sleeping 4–5 hours becomes a badge of honor.
3️⃣ Success removes friction
Food delivered. Cars everywhere. Movement disappears.

The truth?

Your health problem isn’t discipline.

It’s environment.

Your calendar.
Your stress load.
Your decision fatigue.

And nobody will fix that for you.

Not HR.
Not your board.
Not your doctor.

The healthiest C-levels I work with build non-negotiable systems:

✅ Strength training 3x per week
✅ Real food instead of snacking all day
✅ Walking calls instead of sitting meetings
✅ 7–8 hours of sleep protected like a board meeting
✅ Recovery and family time scheduled in the calendar

Because there’s one rule most leaders forget:

❌ You can’t run a high-performance company
inside a low-performance body.

And even more important than your company…

Your family needs you healthy.

1,500-calorie days, bland meals, zero flexibility.

That’s not discipline. That’s burnout.

2️⃣ You let your job run your diet

No plan = random eating.

You grab what’s fast, not what’s smart.

Even “healthy” takeout packs hidden calories that add up fast.

3️⃣ You barely move all day

Desk. Car. Couch. Repeat.

Lack of movement kills your energy and slowly pushes the scale up — even if you “eat clean.”

4️⃣ You chase hacks instead of nailing the basics

Juice cleanses. Detox teas. Fat-burner gummies. And then you quit because everyone would. 

You're skipping the boring stuff that actually works... like real meals and real consistency.

5️⃣ You’re overeating the “clean” stuff

Avocados, nut butters, dates,... all nutrient-dense, but also calorie-dense.

Too much of anything (even the good stuff) still stalls fat loss.

6️⃣ You eyeball your portions and hope for the best

You think you're in a deficit, but you're just guessing.

If you want real results, you gotta track. Period.

7️⃣ You eat like a monk all week… then crash

Over-restricting sets you up for weekend wipeouts.

If your plan isn’t sustainable, it’s not a plan... it’s a countdown to failure.

8️⃣ You treat fat loss like a full-time job

You try to change everything at once.

No wonder it feels overwhelming and impossible.

Start with one habit. Master it. Then move to the next.

9️⃣ You're only halfway in

You say you want results…

But your actions tell a different story.

Lack of commitment is draining. Decide and go all in.

➡️ Fat loss isn’t complicated.

But it does require clarity, consistency, and commitment.

You don’t need a perfect plan.

You need to start.

And stay in motion.

“I used to chase a hundred goals at once. Now, I just want to feel good in my body again.”

A few months ago, I coached R. who had just recovered from cancer.

He was 53, a successful COO, driven, and used to handling life’s challenges head-on.

But after months of treatment, he told me something I’ll never forget:

"It’s wild how losing your health makes you realize it was the most valuable thing you ever had."

❌ When we started, his goal wasn’t to “get fit”; 

✅ It was to reconnect with his body.

We focused on simple things: 

✔️ breathing with awareness, 
✔️ moving with intention, 
✔️ rebuilding strength one day at a time.

As the weeks went by, his energy returned. His posture changed.

But more importantly, his mindset shifted.

‼️ He no longer saw movement or nutrition as obligations; 

they became gifts,... PRIVILEGES!

=> That experience reminded me of something I first learned years ago when my mom was sick, and we couldn’t find a cure for months.

 👉 Health is never guaranteed.

 It’s something we nurture every single day.

💡 “A healthy man wants a thousand things, a sick man only wants one.” Confucius

When we’re healthy, we dream, create, and grow.

When we lose it, everything narrows down to one wish.

✉️ I get messages every day from people saying they know they need to make a change; to eat better, move more, improve their sleep.

❗ But when it comes to action… only about 10% follow through.

The sad truth? 

Most people wait until something forces them to:

A disease, an accident, or burnout.

🚫 Don’t be one of those people.

 Prevention > Cure.

BUT to teach them how to care for their nervous system, move with intention, and nourish their body consciously.

Your body after 40 is 10x more powerful than you think...

But most people overcomplicate getting fit.

So I'm sharing my 59-year-old client's transformation blueprint.

Because no exec should waste another year believing these lies.

If you're struggling to get in shape after 40...

❌ Stop believing your metabolism is dead
❌ Stop thinking you need hours in the gym
❌ Stop accepting the dad bod as inevitable

Here's what actually works ⤵️

1️⃣ Lie 1: "My metabolism crashed" 

Truth: It only drops 2% per decade 

Fix: You're just sitting 80% more than at 25

2️⃣ Lie 2: "Too old for muscle" 

Truth: 60-year-olds build muscle like 20-year-olds 

Fix: Lift weights 3-4x/week and eat enough protein!

3️⃣ Lie 3: "No time" 

Truth: You have time for 3-hour dinners 

Fix: Schedule workouts like board meetings

4️⃣ Lie 4: "Low testosterone" 

Truth: Your lifestyle tanks it (-40%) 

Fix: Sleep 7-8h + lift heavy + eat whole food + protein

5️⃣ Lie 5: "Need cardio marathons" 

Truth: Strength > endless cardio 

Fix: Walk 10k steps + lift weights

My 59 yo client started at 54. 

Now deadlifts 180kg. 
15 pull-ups. 
Zero meds.

Your age isn't the problem. 

Your excuses are.

I'm never the most shredded person in the room... And I don't care.

I train:

✅ To play paddle at 70. 

✅ To pick up my future kids with ease and play with them without being out of breath. 

✅ To never say "I can't" because my body won't let me.

✅ Just like this photo, most take the ferry to get to the top of Table Mountain, I'd rather climb and enjoy every part of the hike!

My clients get it.

-The CEO who can now play tennis with his daughter without ice packs after.

-The founder who carried his luggage up 4 flights when the elevator broke. Didn't even breathe heavy.

-The exec who learned to surf at 52 because why the hell not?

❌ They're not chasing six-packs or PRs.

✔️ They're chasing freedom.

The freedom to: 

→ Age without limitations
→ Sit on the floor and get back up 
→ Travel without worrying about mobility 
→ Say yes to adventures without fearing injuries 

❌ I don't train to be the fittest woman in the room.

✔️ I train to be the most capable.

Strong enough. Lean enough. Mobile enough. Functional enough. 

To do whatever the hell I want, whenever I want, for as long as my body allows it. 

So nothing in daily life feels hard.

I train to make life easier, to age better, and avoid injuries later. 

Because muscle = protection. 

✅ Train for life, (you'll never quit)

❌ not for likes or appearance.
