And there's an unfortunate misconception out there that health is difficult to build. 
That "exercise" = self-imposed suffering
That "healthy foods" = kale smoothies
That joint pain is normal.

I studied Anthropology in 2015 because I love art, culture, and people. 
I worked for 2 years after graduating because finances & family & mental health necessitated it. 
I got my law degree in 2023 because that was something I chose for myself. 
I passed the bar exam in 2023 & got licensed because I had gotten that far...I couldn't give up then. 
I worked as a ghostwriter and law clerk while job searching because the legal industry doesn't really like associates with 0 years of experience. 
I finally started working at ESCA Legal - a full service IP boutique firm - in 2024 & that's when I realized everything came full-circle: 

My love for people and creativity are now my bread and butter. 
My ability to do what I need to & dedicate myself for long periods of time benefits me in a career where we get better with time (and experience). 
My efforts to network & brand myself for the past 3 years paid off because now I'm at a firm with people I've admired since I started my legal journey. 

I understand creators because I am one. 
And in 2025, partnering with a team of attorneys who understand the need for efficiency as well as thoroughness and who prioritizes being at the forefront of modern legal practice, is key.

Not gonna lie, February was a rough one. I've learned though, that when you say that out loud to people who care about you: friends, co-workers, family...the weight lifts a little. 

It doesn't leave completely (unfortunately). But 'no [hu]man is an island' - we're built for community. So if you're going through it, please take this as a sign to text or call a trusted friend right now and tell them. Make it clear what you need and if you don't know, say that. You owe it to yourself. 

Now that the clouds are parting a little and the 'Black Dog' is not nipping at my heels (I guess she's taking a little nap somewhere...), I can fully reflect on the *good* things that happened this month: 

📖 I said yes to getting more involved with the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA)'s IP Section as a Membership Chair (excited to get started!)
👥 I attended Megan Senese's fantastic virtual networking group and got to make some lovely new connections
💰 Paid off 1/11 of my student loans - small moves but I'll take it!
💻 Started International Trademark Association (INTA)'s Foreign Filing Certificate program yesterday 
🍽 Hosted another successful dinner party. This one was 90's nostalgia themed: everyone brought their favorite childhood dish. Foods featured: homemade goulash, gluten free penne alfredo, sausage and veggies, hamburger helper, baked ziti, and some Kudos bars!

Throw in a fun Galentine's party, a necessary therapy session, an opportunity to volunteer, and new additions to my vinyl collection (pictured below), I'm realizing that February wasn't so bad after all....❤️
