Over the last decade, I bootstrapped my technical education company to be the market leader (60+ NPS), helped 1,000s of people transition careers, sold the first $2M in revenue by myself, got acquired by the fastest growing EdTech company in the US, and scaled the entire online offering to 8-figures ARR in year 1, leading to a $750M acquisition. 

And learning an unbelievable amount of company-building skills (12 to 500 to 4,000 people).

Astronaut Ron Garan spent 178 days in space and came back with a simple conclusion: we’re living a lie.

From orbit, he saw a fragile, iridescent biosphere wrapped in a paper-thin atmosphere that keeps every living thing alive.

What he didn’t see was our supposedly most important system: the economy.

His message hit me hard as a climate founder:

We need to move from thinking “economy, society, planet” to “planet, society, economy” - only then can we actually evolve as a species.

Imagine designing careers, companies, and policies from that order of priorities.

That’s the shift the climate economy is really about.

Someone just asked me: “How’s it going with getting 1M people up-skilled?” 🤔

My answer: one person at a time.

But the truth is:

We’re making deep progress across the Climate Drift community and our executive program, especially with climate leadership roles.

When one leader lands a climate job, they go on to build teams of 10–50. That’s the leverage play.

On top of that...

I’ve never spelled this out before, but that question made me pause and reflect.

It feels like I'm getting places with my big hairy mission...not because of me, but because of everyone else who enables me 🙏

Cold applying is dead.

Especially if you are looking for a salary north of $200k.

If you have identified your target list of 15 companies (see my previous post), do not just upload your resume to their portal. 

That is a black hole.

Execute the "Dominate" strategy instead:

1. The Warm Intro: Use your network. 
2nd-degree connections are good. 
Same pre-screened community membership are pure gold. 
You need a champion inside the building before your resume ever hits HR.

2. The Value Add: Don't send a cover letter. 
Send a work sample. 
"I saw you are struggling with X. Here is a 3-page strategy on how I solved X at my last company. The complete deep-dive was published over here [link]."

3. The Relationship: 
Connect with the hiring manager on LinkedIn. 
Engage with their content. 

Be a human, not a PDF.

The goal isn't to get "screened." 

The goal is to get invited for a conversation.

Stop applying. Start networking.

And above all, start building your network before you need it.

I wear several hats, but the threads all tie together. Here’s what that looks like:

I work in organisational leadership, focused on strategy, systems, and learning. I’m currently based in international education, where I hold senior responsibility for how priorities are set, decisions are made, and change is carried through at scale.

With a background in sustainability, I also work with impact-driven organizations to clarify their communications and streamline their systems. I’ve supported NGOs, corporate clients, and private companies, each trying to do some good in the world. 

Systems and strategy are my throughline, whether I’m working on organisational change, program design, or delivery. My biggest strength is the ability to think at both the macro- and the micro-level — seeing the bigger picture, then backwards planning and executing on the steps to get there. 

Ten years ago, seeking somewhere exotic and completely different from the UK, I packed up and moved to Peru. It’s from here that I work both on-site and remotely, enjoying much better coffee and the Pacific ocean breeze.
