Voor de één is conflict een meningsverschil 🕊️ en voor de ander een oorlog 💥

In teams bestaan nu eenmaal verschillende perspectieven op het woord conflict. En precies dát is conflict: verschillende perspectieven naast elkaar.

Als ik samen met Masja Sies-den Haan - PCC een team coach, komt conflict vroeg of laat op tafel. Daarom werken we graag proactief: teams conflictvaardig maken.

Dat begint met een gedeelde definitie. Een MT waarmee wij werken, koos onlangs voor de term ‘functioneel botsen’.

Een nieuwe definitie haalt vaak het taboe van het woord conflict af. Functioneel botsen klinkt natuurlijk ook een stuk fijner dan oorlog of ruzie, nietwaar?

En wie weet… misschien ga je conflict zelfs waarderen.
Ik in ieder geval wel 😉
Professioneel gezien is conflict voor mij onmisbaar om samen in harmonie te kunnen werken.

Zonder wrijving geen glans.
Zonder wrijving geen eigenaarschap over afspraken, acties en doelen.

Conflict, hou je ervan of ga je het liever uit de weg?

Wat hebben klanten eraan dat ik intervisie doe met vakgenoten? 🪴 

Regelmatig kom ik met mijn intervisiegroep bij elkaar. We zijn allemaal teamcoaches met verschillende achtergrond, ervaring en opleiding. Best divers dus. 

We besteden een dagdeel aan inchecken, een werkvorm doorleven en we bespreken een casus. Een actuele casus waar een van ons tegenaan loopt op dat moment. 🆘 

Intervisie geeft mij inzichten, nieuwe werkvormen en verbinding met collega’s. Vooral dat laatste is belangrijk. Als je mij inhuurt, dan voel je dat er een team achter mij staat. Sowieso mijn compagnon Masja Sies-den Haan - PCC en dus ook een aantal andere professionals.

Ik gun elke (team)coach minstens één intervisiegroep — En elke klant een coach met zo’n mooie intervisiegroep als ik zelf al een jaar of 6 heb. 

Intervisie is een mooie manier om te ontwikkelen voor alle professionals. Met en van elkaar leren. Op elkaar mogen vertrouwen en op elkaar mogen terugvallen. 💓

Ben jij van Team Harmonie? ☮

Laat ik voorop stellen: harmonie is goed, niks mis mee.
Harmonie gaat pas mis als je zo graag harmonie wilt dat je alles wat een 
beetje schuurt uit de weg gaat.

Iemand zegt iets scherps. Een ander geluid. Een mening die afwijkt. Of iets wat er liever niet mag zijn. En dan wordt het stil… 

Of iemand maakt een grap… 

Of iemand beging over een heel ander onderwerp… 

Herken je dat?

Dekentje erover, noem ik dat. Het neigt naar afwijkend en dan gaat er hup, snel een dekentje over zodat het er niet meer is.

Maar het is er wel… 🌱

En het is er ook onder de waterlijn… 🦈

Het zal er altijd blijven, en groeien… 🌳

Tot je het aangaat met elkaar. 

Harmonie bereik je door met elkaar te schuren.
Start met het gesprek over wat harmonie betekent. En ook wat conflict betekent.

Vaak is dat een mooi startpunt om te leren met elkaar te mogen verschillen. 
We zijn tenslotte allemaal anders, en dat is maar goed ook!

Daar stond ik dan in de stromende regen in een drassige wei te verdragen…☔

In de opleiding tot systemisch teamcoach met paarden gaan we regelmatig de wei in, of het nou regent of niet. Deze oefening in de wei ging over leiden en volgen.

Bij paarden gaat leiden en volgen vanzelf vanwege de duidelijke ordening:

🐎 De leidende merrie loopt voorop. Zij neemt initiatief om de kudde naar een nieuwe plek te leiden. Vergelijk dit met de leider die een visie heeft en medewerkers leidt door een verandering.

🐎 De drijvende hengst zorgt dat de kudde op gang komt en op tempo blijft. Vaak loopt hij achteraan om achterblijvers te motiveren of beschermen. Vergelijk dit met een informele leider die medewerkers ondersteunt in hun werk en ontwikkeling.

🐎 De rest van de paarden volgt. Hier gaat het bij mensen vaak mis. Herkenbaar?

Terug naar de wei… ☔
In de oefening speelden we met de leidende en drijvende positie.  Om de beurt namen we de leiding waarbij de rest zou volgen. En dat deden we samen steeds beter. Tot ik er wel klaar mee was. Ik besloot voor mijn eigen doel te gaan. Dus ik nam de leidende positie en sprintte ervandoor.  Hup, lijnrecht naar binnen waar het warm en vooral droog was.

En niemand volgde...

…het grootste deel van de groep wilde nog even in de wei blijven om de oefening af te ronden. Ik ben gebleven. Ik heb staan verdragen… De regen, mijn ongeduld, mijn oordeel.

Voor de groep was dit het beste. Ik had even te verduren ten gunste van de ontwikkeling van het team. Er gebeurde iets daar in de wei, in ons gesprek dat ons dichter bij elkaar bracht als gelegenheidsteam.

Van de wei naar de praktijk… 🏢
In een team zijn er vaak ook verschillende behoeftes. De een wil rechts en de ander wil links. Wat doe je als iedereen rechts wil en een of twee mensen willen links?

Soms hebben we te verdragen om een gezamenlijk doel te bereiken. In de praktijk zijn dit vaak de momenten waarop discussie ontstaat. Welles-nietes. Of zelfs polarisatie: wij tegen zij.

Op die momenten hebben we soms te verdragen. Zodat ikken een team kunnen vormen dat samen iets bereikt.
