I lived solo for a month in a different country for the first time ever.



Someone who hasn't lived outside her house for more than a week,  the one who never got permissions for all-nighters, was living in Dubai for a month all by herself. And since then, the city has become like my second home. 

There's something profoundly transformative about being entirely self-reliant in an unfamiliar place. No safety net of familiar faces, no autopilot routines to fall back on. Just you, your adaptability, and the choices you make moment to moment.

Successfully navigating the Metro, ordering food in a new restaurant, and troubleshooting meeting logistics across time zones aren't just tasks; they're quiet confidence builders. Each one reminded me I'm more capable than I give myself credit for.

That's when a small guilt trip hit me about staying in my comfort zone always. I realised discomfort is where growth lives. Those moments of uncertainty, whether to speak up in a cross-cultural business setting, how to spend evenings alone in a hotel room productively, managing homesickness while staying professional..these pushed me to develop resilience I didn't know I needed.

If you're on the fence about taking that solo trip, that challenging assignment, that opportunity that scares you a little: consider this your sign. The version of yourself on the other side will thank you.

I am glad I did this before turning 30.

I spent a week studying +500 LinkedIn accounts from UAE, Saudi and India. 


As an expert, this is a part of my research. 

60% of the profiles I studied had: 

- Same old sob stories 
- Auto-generated comments
- Cliche quotes 
- No originality 
- No soul 

This platform wasn't that saturated 5 years ago. At least people took out some time to write a DM personally or engage meaningfully.

Today, almost 60% people are using AI for content, comments, and even DMs. The most popular professional networking platform is shedding its essence.

(I lowkey felt proud looking at our client's account. The posts look authentic, comments are done purposefully, and honestly, hard to figure out if they were managed by us.)

Nevertheless, in this world of AI, if you are someone still maintaining authenticity here, giving some personal attention to your account, I appreciate you.

I forgot my shopping bags in a shisha cafe in Dubai. 



Recently, after shopping at the Emirates Mall with my friend Mona, I went to Huqqabaz and left my shopping bags at the table. 

I walked back an hour later, and everything was exactly where I left it. The staff had even moved the bags aside safely, making sure no one would accidentally take them.

A luxury we cannot imagine in India (not shaming my country but just spilling facts). 

This is something I truly appreciate about building my business in Dubai: the sense of security that we often take for granted. 

As someone coming from a protective family, I know how comforting it is to live in a city like Dubai. My parents don't allow me late-night parties in Delhi, but they are comfortable sending me alone for a month in Dubai. 

This isn't just about low crime rates or good policing. It's about a culture of trust and accountability that permeates everyday life. It's why clients feel comfortable flying in for meetings. It's why talent wants to relocate here. It's why Dubai continues to be a magnet for entrepreneurs and creatives from around the world.

To everyone considering Dubai as their base: this is what daily life looks like here. Safe & comfortable.

I spent AED 2000 on a meeting which I could have done on Zoom. 


I took a quick trip to Dubai last month, spending AED 2000 (INR 48500) for an in-person meeting which can be easily managed on Zoom.

Which self-funded business owner does that?  Mahima Jalan! 

Uncomfortable? A bit. Worth it? Absolutely.

We've built an industry on connection: helping leaders find their voice, tell their story, create resonance. Yet somewhere between the posts, the algorithms, and the back-to-back video calls, we forgot what real connection feels like.

There's a recent study which claims social media & remote work have made people lonely and anxious. It has reduced the essence of in-person conversations. 

I realised I was doing the same thing professionally. Defaulting to "let's jump on a quick call" when what I really needed was to sit across a table, read the room, catch the things that don't translate through a screen.

So I'm making a shift. More chai meetings in Delhi. More coffee & shisha conversations in Dubai. More showing up, even when it's inconvenient.

Not because I'm anti-technology (I run a digital agency, for crying out loud). But the best briefs come from real conversations. The strongest partnerships are built on actual presence. And honestly? The work is just better when we've actually met.

If you're a client, friend, or someone in the industry and we've been "meaning to catch up", let's actually do it. Dubai, Delhi, or Riyadh, I'm around.

We are all sick of Zoom calls, which give no real connection.

Why are new employees desperate for a LinkedIn Recommendation?  


I've noticed a growing trend that concerns me as a leader. New joinees are requesting LinkedIn recommendations within their first 90 days. Mind you, they think they are "old" enough in the company within 2-3 months. 

I don't dare to ask that from my 10-month-old client. (maybe it is a "me problem").

Here's why this approach fundamentally misses the point:

A LinkedIn recommendation isn't a participation certificate. It's a professional testament to sustained impact, proven capabilities, and meaningful contributions. 

When you ask for one after 3-6 months, what exactly are you asking me to vouch for? That you showed up on time? That you seem nice? That you haven't been fired yet?

The real problem with premature recommendation requests is that they signal impatience over substance. Building a career isn't a sprint to collect digital badges. It's about developing genuine expertise, delivering measurable results, and earning trust through consistent performance. A few months give you neither the perspective nor the body of work to warrant a meaningful recommendation.

The employees should change their thinking from "How quickly can I get a recommendation?" to "What impact can I create that's worth recommending?" 

Here's what I tell my team when they ask for a recommendation:

Focus on the work. Solve real problems. Add measurable value. And when you've genuinely earned it, when you've spent 2-3 years demonstrating consistent excellence, driving results, and making a lasting impact, then we'll write a recommendation that actually means something. 

Is that too much to ask for? 

To the early-career professionals reading this: I know you're eager to build your profile and establish credibility. That's admirable. But credibility isn't claimed, it's earned. And it's never earned in a few months.

Invest in becoming recommendation-worthy before collecting recommendations. Your future self will thank you for it.

I interviewed +30 people in 2 weeks & met two kinds of people.


Type 1: Worked/lived in a tier 1 city for years, pushed until their health gave up, moved back to their hometown, and now wants a remote job even if it pays less. Peace matters more than pay.

Type 2: Worked remotely for years, lost routine, ended up with neck pain, and now wants an office.
