Most of last year’s advice is already outdated.

1/ EGC > Branded Content: 

Employee Generated Content (EGC) will outperform company page posts by 500%.

Companies are literally paying $200K/year for storytellers and branding coaches. I’m advising my clients to stop spending on ads and start building Employee Personal Brands. 


2/ The "Ghost-CEO" Era ends:
Executives can no longer hide behind PR teams. 
In 2026, if a CEO isn't visible, relatable, and slightly "messy" (raw) on video, they are invisible to investors and top talent.

Polished statements and press releases don’t build trust in a world where audiences want to see how decisions are made, not just what was decided.

In a market that values judgment over messaging, polished statements don’t build trust, transparency around how decisions are made does. 


3/ Move from SEO to "GEO" (Generative Engine Optimization):

In 2025, we optimized for Google. In 2026, we optimize for AI Models. 
People now ask AI for recommendations and AI models are trained on public discourse.

When a CEO asks an AI, "Who are the top experts in EGC?" the AI only recommends people who have a high volume of human-validated engagement (real comments).

Your LinkedIn activity now affects how you "rank" in the AI age.


4/  Context will become the moat.

AI-generated posts are everywhere. The most valuable skill in 2026 isn't AI prompting. It’s Human Connection. The only durable differentiator will be lived context:

- 'why' behind the 'what.'
- lessons from a failed 2025 pivot.
- specific nuance of your industry that isn't in a training manual.
- authentic stories 


5/ "Meaningful Friction" over "Frictionless Content"

We spent years making content "easy to consume." In 2026, easy content is ignored because it looks like AI-generated filler.
The algorithm now tracks "Dwell Time" and "Thoughtful Interaction."

Posts that force people to stop, disagree, or think for 30 seconds are the ones that go viral. Make people stay. 


6/ Active on LinkedIn ≠ credible on LinkedIn

Posting more does not compensate for weak positioning. The accounts that grow will be the ones that are easy to place: clear expertise, consistent judgment, repeatable perspective.

Start optimising for clarity of role, domain, and point of view. Fewer posts. Stronger POV.

i was supposed to be a government officer.
or a banker.
that was the "safe" plan my parents wanted for me.

instead, i was sitting in a bba classroom, feeling completely invisible.

i hated college.
i hated the lectures.
but mostly, i hated the feeling of being just another number in the herd. 

running a rat race i never signed up for.

rock bottom wasn't just emotional. it was financial.

there were months i couldn't even pay my college fees.

i began freelancing, took small writing projects to clear my tuition.
i was always a writer at heart: poetry, journals, excerpts

then, i randomly heard of LinkedIn (for job search) and created an account. 

i had no strategy, just had a phone and a strong desire to stand OUT.

i watched. 
i learned.
i started writing here.

some posts worked, some went viral, some just did average. 

and then the personal branding boom hit.

when I started, i didn’t even know what it was. 

the irony is massive.

the girl who felt suffocated in a corporate classroom now runs a global consulting firm (Iconify Consulting Group (ICG)) and now has 1 million+ people reading her words every month.

so,

if you feel like you don't fit into the "safe" path, don't force it.

i’ve learned that safety and alignment rarely look the same.

what changed things for me wasn’t confidence or clarity overnight,

it was deciding to trust my own direction a little more each day.

you don’t wake up one morning feeling ready to lead.

you grow into it the moment you stop doubting your own voice. :)

would you propose on the first date?
no, right? 

then why are you pitching in the first message/meeting?

yet, every day, I see people cold DMing, hopping on sales calls, or networking like they’re in a rush to close the deal before even building a connection.

🚩 no trust.
🚩 no relationship.
🚩 no value given.

and then they wonder why they’re getting ghosted.

sales, lead generation, and personal branding work just like relationships: you need to nurture before you propose.

let that sink in. 

here’s how you should be approaching it instead:


➡️ step 1: The First Impression
(profile = your dating profile)

before you even reach out, ask yourself:

- does my LinkedIn profile scream value or just look like an online resume?
- do my posts establish credibility or just talk about me?
- would I trust me if I came across my own profile?

people stalk before they reply. 
make sure your profile gives them a reason to say YES.

fix your profile before you slide into DMs:

- headline:
say who you help & how (Not just “Founder | Marketer”)
- about section: 
tell your story + proof + CTA 
- content: 
show expertise & personality 

first impressions matter. Make yours count.

➡️ step 2: the icebreaker
(DM = flirting, not proposing)

stop sending: “hey, I have a service you’ll love! Let’s jump on a call.”
“we help businesses like yours. Can we discuss?”
“I see we have mutual interests. Let’s connect.”

these messages scream “I want something from you” before you’ve given anything.

instead, send something personal & engaging:

> mention a specific post they wrote
> ask a relevant question about their work
> add a valuable insight to something they care about

no hard sell. Just genuine conversation.


➡️ step 3: the connection
(engage before you pitch)

want someone to reply? don’t just dm, show up in their world first.

- comment on their LinkedIn posts before reaching out.
- share their content before asking for their time.
- engage like a real person, not a sales bot.

now they probably:
-recognize your name before your DM lands.
-see you as a value-provider, not a seller.
-outreach feels natural, not forced.

by the time you DM them, they already know who you are.

game changer.


➡️ step 4: the “Proposal”💍
 (now, you can pitch)

only after:
> you’ve built a relationship
> they see you as credible
> you’ve provided value upfront

then, and only then, you make your offer and it won’t even feel like a pitch.

at this point, they WANT to work with you.
because you’ve shown them, not just told them.

fastest way to get ignored: 

1. mass copy-paste DMs 
2. pitching without context
3. following up aggressively (“hey, just checking in…” x100)
4. focusing on YOU, not THEM

The 7/10 is the most dangerous psychological trap in life (and business). 

I was catching up with a friend this week. She is brilliant, holds a senior B2B marketing role, after MBA from a reputed B school and makes a very comfortable 18 LPA.

by every traditional metric, she has "made it."

but she is quietly, deeply miserable. she showed me a fully fleshed-out blueprint for her business. it has been sitting there, untouched, for two years. she hasn't executed a single step.
Why?
cuz her life is a 7 out of 10.

it pays just enough to keep you comfortable, but not enough to buy your freedom.

it drains just enough energy to keep you tired, but not enough to make you angry enough to quit.

there is a biological reason high-achievers get stuck here.

behavioral economists call it Loss Aversion.

science proves that the human brain feels the pain of losing something twice as intensely as the joy of gaining something.
 
at a 2/10 (toxic boss, zero money), your brain screams: "Jump." 
you have absolutely nothing to lose. survival instinct forces you to build.

 at a 7/10, your brain panics: "what if I fail and lose this 18 LPA?
“w if I pivot my business model and lose my safe clients?
you have just enough to lose. so you freeze.

rock bottom forces a pivot. 7/10 forces a compromise.

a 2/10 ruins a year of your life.
a 7/10 ruins a decade.

the only way to escape the trap is to realize that comfort is not an asset. it is a debt.

you are paying for today's safety with the compound interest of your future regret.

if you are terrified to make a move right now because things are "pretty good"—that is the exact sign you need to jump.

be honest with yourself : are you building your 10/10, or are you just protecting a 7/10?

i have had posts with 500K views that made $0.
and i have had posts with 2K views that had made $10000. 

your ideal client isn't commenting "great post!"

they are a ceo. they are busy.
they are reading, watching, and judging your authority in silence.

8 months ago, i signed a contract with a nasdaq listed founder.

it was the kind of deal that changes your year.

when we got on the kickoff call, i looked him up on linkedin.
i expected to see him in my comments. maybe a "like" here or there.

he wasn't even following me.
he had never liked a post. never commented. never shared.

i asked him:
"how did you find me?"

he said:
"mishka, i’ve been reading your posts for 8 months. an exec screenshotted your framework on 'executive presence' and sent it to my board. when we were ready to hire, you were the only name on the list."

that moment changed how i view this platform.

we are obsessed with "engagement."
we panic if a post gets 50 likes instead of 500.

we think "silence" = "failure."

but internet culture follows the "90-9-1 Rule":
• 1% create (me, you).
• 9% engage (the people commenting "great post!").
• 90% lurk (the decision-makers).

your ideal client: the ceo, the vc, the f500 exec, is in the 90%.

they are too busy to comment.
they are too guarded to "like" a controversial opinion.

but they are watching.
they are screenshotting.
and they are judging your competence in private.

don't let the vanity metrics fool you!

it’s sunday morning. the building is completely empty.

the best time to be in the office is when nobody else is here. 

no slack pings. no "quick syncs." no fires to put out.

people say working on a sunday is toxic hustle culture.

and if you are doing it because you are drowning in tasks, they are right.

but there is a massive difference between working out of panic and working out of peace.

monday to friday; you are managing your team, answering clients, and reacting to the market.

but a quiet sunday morning with a coffee and empty office is is where the actual strategy happens.

i used to feel guilty for opening my laptop on the weekend.

now i realize that 3 hours of uninterrupted silence is the ultimate luxury for a founder.

be honest: is working on a sunday a toxic habit for you, or a therapeutic one?

this the most dangerous advice society gives high-achievers:

“keep your options open."

we spend our entire careers collecting safety nets. we get the safe degree. take the corporate job. we build multiple streams of income before mastering one.

we do it to maximize "optionality."
but nobody warns you about the Optionality Trap.

when I finished my MBA, the pressure to secure a "Plan B" was suffocating. 

everyone around me wanted me to take a secure banking or government job. the ultimate safety net.

and if I had kept that option open, I would have never built a global consulting firm, i’d have been too comfortable.

even the smartest people I know are paralyzed by it. 

they have so many "good" backup plans that they never fully commit to the "great" one.

• they build a startup on the weekends, but keep the 9-to-5.
• they launch a product, but refuse to pick a niche because they don't want to "lose a customer segment."
• they want to build an empire, but they refuse to burn the boats.

the brutal truth about human psychology:

if you always have a Plan B, your brain will automatically default to it the second Plan A gets hard.

every massive breakthrough in business, relationships, and wealth comes from a moment of singular, terrifying commitment.

stop trying to keep every door open.
this post is your reminder to pick one, walk through it, and lock it behind you.

10 years ago, your reputation was what people said after you left the room.

today, your reputation is what they know before you even enter. 

i saw this clearly with a new client i’m working with.

on paper, his career is the "dream."

• former cxo at Amazon.
• current board member at a Fortune 500.
• 2 decades of operational excellence.

yet, in our first strategy call, he admitted something that stopped me cold.

he realized he had spent 20 years building internal leverage, but zero years building market leverage.

without the "amazon" email signature, his voice didn't travel.

he was relying on a logo to speak for him.
the lesson is harsh but simple:

"doing good work" is only 50% of the job.

the other 50% is ensuring the right people know you are doing it.

we have quietly moved from a "credential economy" to an "attention economy."

the resume gets you into the pile.
the brand gets you out of it.

don't wait until you leave the "big name" to build your own name.

by then, it is too late.

after auditing 800+ executive profiles, here’s what I’ve learned: brilliance dies in bad formatting.

most smart people on LinkedIn don’t lack ideas, they lack layout.

if you write in "text blocks," no one’s gonna read your posts.

the human brain is lazy.
it doesn't want to work. it wants to scan.

if your post visually feels like effort, the brain opts out before the first sentence registers.

here’s the visual rhythm framework I use across executive profiles:

1/ the "hook" as a trap.

don't just state a fact. open a loop.

• bad: "marketing is important."
• good: "marketing is dead. here is what replaced it."
(the brain needs to close the loop).

2/ the "slide" effect

your first sentence's only job is to get them to read the second sentence.
never start with "i think..." or "in my opinion..."
start with a conflict. start with a number. start with a lie.
grease the slide.

3/ visual rhythm (the heartbeat)

if the rhythm is predictable, the reader gets bored.
break the pattern to keep them awake.

4/ the "1-3-1" rhythm
stop writing paragraphs. start writing music.
most viral posts follow this beat:
• 1 line: the punchy hook.
• 3 lines: the context/explanation.
• 1 line: the takeaway.
it creates a visual cadence that pulls the eye down the page.

5/ the white space rule
if a sentence runs longer than two lines on mobile, break it.
white space is cognitive relief.

6/ movement lines
use short transition bridges that pull the eye downward.
“but this is where most get it wrong.”

7/ end with direction
don’t close with vibes.
close with clarity.
What should the reader think, change, or do next?

make your posts easy to skim through and people will actually read!

ai just made it entirely free for a 19-year-old to spin up a slick corporate website, generate 500 seo articles, and fake a massive brand in a weekend.

modern B2B buyers have stopped trusting the usual corporate marketing. they don’t trust:

– 40-page whitepapers
– Brand slogans

they trust people.

9 out of 10 calls i get on; the prospect already trusts my brain before we even get on the first zoom call, because they’ve already checked out my profile.

and yet, I still meet CEOs running $20M+ companies who refuse to write publicly because it feels “unprofessional” or “too exposed.”

really, they are just terrified of their board's judgment.

so they stay quiet. and they pay the "faceless penalty."

UPI now powers over 80% of India’s digital payments. 🇮🇳 
no other country has anything this fast or this widely used! 

but here’s the strange part that hit me recently: UPI evolved. credit cards didn’t.

we all pay through UPI now from 20 Rs. chai to 20,000 Rs. for rent. credit cards are still built for a very different India…

travel points, lounge access, milestone bonuses; great at airports, useless at kirana stores.

That mismatch is exactly where the most interesting fintech innovation is happening right now.

imagine this: UPI already powers your payments. now imagine UPI powered by credit.

no swiping machine.
no “minimum spend.”
just scan-and-pay anywhere, with the benefits of credit and real cashback.

so, when I came across Kiwi, it clicked instantly. a credit card that finally works the way India actually behaves:
→ scan a QR anywhere
→ pay instantly
→ earn real 1.5% cashback
→ withdraw it
→ and even convert bigger spends into EMIs

the more I looked at it, the more this category made sense.
credit shouldn’t live only where we sometimes spend (malls, airports).
it should live where we always spend.

if you want to understand the future of fintech, don’t look at the newest buzzword.
look at the biggest behaviour.
and for India, that behaviour is UPI.

UPI + credit is going to reshape how young Indians manage money and the brands building in this space are worth watching.

this month was tough. 

we spend our twenties and thirties romanticizing the hustle.
we sacrifice our physical baseline to scale our empires. we brag about surviving on 4 hours of sleep. 

it hit me hard when my mother was admitted last month for her surgeries. sitting outside that ward, your title is completely useless. numbers means nothing. your network can't save you. you are just a helpless kid, entirely at the mercy of biology and the doctors in the room.

it forced me to look at 4 undeniable laws of adulthood that nobody teaches you: 

1. a family crisis is the ultimate business stress test.
if you disappearing into a hospital for 7 days causes your company’s revenue to tank or your team to panic, you own a fragile, high-stress job. 
true operational leverage is building a team and a system that protects your cash flow while you are busy protecting your family.

2. biology keeps a perfect ledger.
health is not a "side project" you get to when your company scales. if your body fails, your business goes to zero. being fit isn't a vanity metric; it is the foundation of your leverage. you cannot protect your family or lead a team if you are physically falling apart.

3. money is a shield. money cannot reverse time or bribe disease. but it buys speed. it buys the top specialist, the private room, and the ultimate freedom to look at a doctor and say, "do whatever it takes," without ever hesitating to check a bank balance.

4. the illusion of infinite time. a hospital visit forces you to calculate the actual math. you don't have "years" left with your parents; you have a specific number of healthy weekends. you have to audit your calendar accordingly.
build the business. make the money.
but stop trading your health and your family to get there.

this month made me stronger & clearer.

about what & who matters.
about what real leverage is.
about what i’m actually building for.

I realised something watching this ad film: 

we don’t move our bags for just anyone.

We keep our things close by default. Our bags, our phones, our time, our emotional distance. We protect that space instinctively.

And when we do move it, it’s rarely conscious. It just happens when someone matters.

That’s a kind of love language we don’t talk about enough. 

One that doesn’t announce itself. One that feels real because it costs something: comfort, habit, control.

Sometimes love isn’t about doing more.
It’s about making space! :)
