At harochi, the rule is simple. Automate only what already works by hand.

One of the best sales moves in 2025 is using HeyReach.io to send a connection request right after someone books a meeting with you on Cal.com, Inc. or Calendly.

Here's the key: doing it the minute they book a call with you (and not waiting until after the call). 

This is why it works for us: 

1. They get a notification on LinkedIn

2. It gives them a chance to further research you and your company, so they aren't showing up unprepared to the call. 

3. Since time makes interest fade, we ask them to connect when they're still motivated.

4. Later in the deal cycle, the chances of closing decrease, so we want to set ourselves up the best we can. We want to be able to reach them easily. This is 10x easier if you're connected on LinkedIn and also have their email address, phone number, and even office address, in case we want to hit them with an old-fashioned letter (written using Clay and a bunch of automations). 

Here's the n8n flow. I call it "How to Send a LinkedIn Connection Request to Everyone Who Books Time With You."

Here's how it works....
1. Person books call through Cal.com, Inc. 
2. This triggers workflow in n8n
3. AI Transform node extracts the email addresses that don't end in "harochi.io" from the booking form, so I only get the prospect's email
4. Exa searches for the person's first name, last name, company name and "LinkedIn.com" and only outputs the profile if it's certain that it's the same person. 
5. Once it locates the person's profile, it adds them to my campaign in HeyReach, which is purely designed for this. It has no messages, just an empty connection request.

- you can also include your CRM into this workflow very easily
- you can get creative and send connection requests to multiple participants (if that's a common thing that happens with your booking requests)

Perhaps my biggest lesson from working more than 5 years providing Software Development Services is: don’t burn bridges. It’s hard to do it. At some point, you might not deliver as well as you used to. There are peaks, and they are valleys. We need to be able to cross both, since we only have a North Star. What’s important is the process, not the outcome. If you focus on the process, the right outcomes will naturally come.

Now back to my idea: no matter what happens with a relationship, it’s best to end it on good terms. Make sure both sides are happy after moving in completely different directions. Why? Because really, that leaves the door open for future opportunities. This happened to me! Not once, not twice, but many times. Your current project might end, but the founder will have another side project they want to pursue, or they will move to a high-growth startup that could use your expertise.

It’s easier and better to invest in current and previous relationships than to build new ones. But one needs to do both for the best outcomes.

Remote work sounds simple. Hire from anywhere. Get talent everywhere.

But here’s what nobody tells you - compliance is a minefield.

Every country has its own labor laws, tax codes, regulations. What’s fine in the US might get you flagged in Germany or India.

I’ve worked with startups scaling global teams and seen founders blindsided by fines, audits, or even payroll freezes. Usually because they tried to copy-paste a US process onto the world.

Here’s what I tell anyone building a remote team:
- Never assume the rules are the same. Research each country before you hire.
- Don’t rely on guesswork. Use proper global payroll and compliance platforms.
- If you’re unsure, talk to a local expert. A quick check can save you months of trouble.
- Pay attention to IP and confidentiality laws. These differences can bite you later.

Bottom line: remote work makes geography irrelevant for talent, but not for compliance.

Get this wrong, and small mistakes become big distractions. Get it right, and your team can focus on what matters.

How to position yourself from the beginning?

I had an interesting dilemma in the past few months. Two years ago, I started working with a client. At that time, my project pipeline was very low, so naturally, I had a pretty good offer to that client. However, as time went on, new, better rates, projects came along, but my engineers were stuck on this client. Obviously, the client wasn’t interested in any major rate increase, even if, in reality, the engineers could do way better.

But I like Amazon’s way of thinking: “Be customer-obsessed”. My customers are my clients. I don’t want to take my engineers away from the client, which would mean a big loss to my client, but I wanted to see how to mitigate that loss. 

What I ended up doing was I simply told the client that I have to give a raise to the engineers since we can lose them if we don’t beat the current market conditions, and they agreed. But I had to wait half a year for that to accommodate their budget. Thankfully, the developers also agreed, so we found a good way out of the situation.
