I spent the last two days advising CEOs and business owners at their breaking point. And I keep seeing the SAME pattern:
 
They think the problem is external
but it’s almost always in how they decide.
 
So they change strategy.  
Change teams.  
Change industries.  
Even change countries.
 
But nothing changes.  
Because they don’t change the way they think.
 
Here are the 3 decision skills most leaders never train:

Knowing what you really want, even when it’s hard to face.

9 out of 10 Top Executives I meet want to quit their job.
 
Not because they want more money

And to “fix” that, most people jump to extremes:
 
“I’m exhausted → I need to quit.”  
“I feel stuck → I need a new country.”

This extreme way of thinking has a name: the pendulum bias.
 
When something feels wrong,  
your mind swings from one extreme to the other.
 
Your brain becomes polarized and it only sees opposite solutions:
All-or-nothing.  
Stay or leave.  
Break or rebuild.
 
And when your mind works like that,  
you don’t see options, you see escape routes,
and make wrong decisions.

Most people don’t actually want to leave everything.  
They want to stop feeling trapped by their own life.
 
So before you walk away from what you built, ask yourself:
 
What if quitting isn’t the only path? 
What if you could keep your income AND fix your life?  
What if the problem isn’t the job but the way your mind is processing your reality?
 
Because if you want to build your next level,
you’ll need to spot and eliminate the mental biases that are quietly pushing you toward extreme decisions.

Your next level doesn’t come from forcing the old plan.  
It comes from having the courage to update the vision.

Your work has a plan. Your life doesn’t.

4️⃣ Mixed identities.  
One part of you wants safety.

Another wants impact.  
They all vote differently.
 
5️⃣ Emotional overload.  
You’re not stressed.  You’re overstimulated.  
Big decisions need a calm mind.
 
The best leaders don’t make fast decisions.  
They make clean ones.
 
Clear mind → clear direction.  
No noise → no hesitation.
 
This is what I help leaders do:

𝗣.𝗦.  Which of the 5 hits you the most this week?

You don’t want someone who loves you despite your imperfections. 

You want someone who loves you because of them.

You want someone who still chooses you  
when you mess up,  
when you say the wrong thing,  
when you’re not your strongest,  
when your humanity shows.

But most high performers don’t allow this kind of love.
 
The moment something feels off,  
you judge.  
You overthink.  
You tell yourself they “shouldn’t act like this.”  
You assume you know the better way.  
You think being in control keeps you safe.
 
It doesn’t.
It just keeps you distant.
 
Because real connection doesn’t grow from being perfect or “right.” 
It grows when you can say:
 
“This hurt.”  
“This scared me.”  
“This is what I need.”  
“This is what I feel.”
 
And to do that, you need skills most performance-driven people never learn:
 
→ 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 (so you know what you actually feel)  
→ 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (so you can say it clearly)  
→ 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (so you stop hiding behind logic)  
→ 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (so partnership matters more than being right)
 
It’s not easy.  
But it’s the only way love becomes real,  
not logical.
