I thought I knew how to play the Linkedin game, man I was so wrong 🤯 


A few months back I crossed 30,000 followers mark. Quite a milestone !!

I have been on this platform for about 10 years and like everyone else I know, my main objective was to bring more leads/sales/revenue for all the companies I have worked for, or started myself (Cooee).

But trust me, nothing worked like I had expected or hoped.

I dig down deep on all my posts and content and realised there was a clear pattern, most of them were about me. I did this, I went there, I think this and I want to do that etc etc.... honestly who cares and my posts mirrored this with poor engagement and literally no comments from others.

And then I flipped the switch, to stop pretending !!

In the past 2 years, I started celebrated others rather than making it all about me.

Every person I met, I started sharing what I learned from them. The idea that sparked in my head because on my conversations with them and how I was going to improve on their feedback. This could be customers, partners, teammates or people I look up to.

And not just the content engagement improved, so did the follower count.

What I thought LinkedIn was for and how it actually worked me for are totally different. 

So with 30,731 followers (and counting)as of today morning, I would say spending less time on LinkedIn but being genuine works far more better.

Black Friday delivered for brands but with a few twists(hint better margins)🔥 

At Cooee in just 4 days our BFCM participating brands generated £15.7 Mn worth of sales, and our contribution averaged a 23%, amounting to £3.7 Mn. 

While these numbers are an amazing achievement, a testament of the features and platform infrastructure we have build to deliver 1-to-1 personalisation in realtime, what makes me more super pumped is the way we helped ecommerce brands execute their offers 🛍️ 

👉 No blanket discounting to all visitors.

👉 Personalising Homepage>Collections>Products page>Cart in realtime.

👉 Dynamic offers - Buy 2 get 10% upgrades to Buy 3 get 15%.

👉 Discounts only available to repeat customers. For different brands this window of last purchase was configurable (30/60/90 days).

👉 Dynamic discounting based on visitor purchase intent.

👉 A/B tests across the funnel with different offers.

👉 Time critical abandoned carts offers for returning visitors.

All the strategies were created after understanding each D2C brand's products, usage, AOV and margins so merchants could increase revenue but not by sacrificing on all the margins.

I have always said, some brands may decide not to participate in BFCM sales but as a consumer one always expects the discounts.

So the answer is not totally doing any offers but being clever about them to grow sustainably.

Launched a new feature for Shopify merchants to be able to see daily SKU sales and zoom in on which strategy lead to it. Organic discovery or via onsite personalisation 🎯 

Your website is the your most priced real estate, engaging with each visitor in realtime as per stage of buying journey boost conversion like no other.

Onsite engagement & onsite personalisation are two very different things 🧐 

On call with one of the biggest apparel brand on Shopify, the growth marketer said most merchants don't understand the difference between engaging a visitor and delivering an engagement that is personalised.

He went on to explain that this is largely because of how martech/conversion optimisation tools are build. Some of the top names from the industry have their entire strategy based on segmentation - manual and limited.

The example he quoted was 1 visitor landing on a D2C website's homepage sees a best seller widget - this is onsite engagement.

And the same widget is shown to repeat visitor, visitor with browsed products in last session, returning customer. When one can dynamically deliver these products in the widget - that is onsite personalisation.

One needs to be customer obsessed and think how can I reduce the number of clicks for by customers to find that they are looking for. And this brings conversion optimisation, the only metric that matters 📈

A/B testing one element on a page versus A/B testing entire funnel 🧐 


Most brands obsess over how to optimise for elements on specific pages for conversion optimisation. Well that helps but it don't really move the needle.

It's because visitors scroll through different pages on your Shopify stores - Homepage>Collections>Product> Cart to decide if the product is right for them and then purchase it.

Would it be possible to change elements on collections page based on where a visitor clicks on homepage ?? Or based on scroll patterns on the collections, one delivers a unique experience on the product page only for certain segments for visitors.
