They called it:
The Woman Who Never Did Anything.

The sculpture is in Zaragoza, Spain.

Look closely.

She is bent under the weight of washing machines, buckets, brooms, and everything it takes to keep a household running. Yet she is still holding her children’s hands.

This is the work that for generations was called “nothing.”

Unpaid.
Unrecorded.
Often unrecognized.

And somehow… still called nothing.

If the work many mothers do at home were written as a corporate job description, it would look something like this 👇🏼

Chief Operations Officer of the household, responsible for logistics, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, nutrition planning, sanitation, conflict resolution, early childhood development, education support, transportation coordination, healthcare management, and the emotional wellbeing of multiple team members.

The role requires leadership, crisis management, strategic planning, and long hours with no days off. Yet despite the scope and responsibility, society often labeled this work as “doing nothing.”

And to the women who are planning to transition back into the workforce after raising their families, do not be ashamed of that chapter of your life.

Raising children and managing a household is real work.

Those years build leadership, organization, resilience, and problem-solving skills that many organizations value deeply.

Put it on your résumé.

Because you were not doing nothing.

You were running an entire operation.

The title of the sculpture is ironic, of course.

Because millions of women have carried entire households, communities, and generations on their backs while the world dismissed their labor as invisible.

This sculpture is not about one woman.

It is about millions.

Prefab cold-formed steel?

• Non-combustible
• Dimensionally stable
• Engineered to the millimeter
• Repeatable
• Boring in the most profitable way possible

It belongs in high-performance structures where:

• Fire risk matters
• Insurance matters
• Schedule matters
• Gravity matters

Wood?

Wood absolutely has its place too.

• Bonfires
• Rustic cabins
• Picnic tables
• Termite all-you-can-eat buffets

And yes — certain projects where risk tolerance is high and the pro forma can absorb variability.

Before anyone gets emotional:

This is not anti-wood.

It’s just pro Prefab CFS. 

If your project requires:

• Non-combustibility
• Tight tolerances
• Long-term dimensional stability
• Reduced moisture drama

Then pretending wood and steel are interchangeable is like pretending a garden hose and a fire hose are basically the same thing.

They both move water.

Until they don’t.

Every material has its place.

The problem isn’t choosing wood.

The problem is choosing it for projects where performance actually matters — and then acting shocked when it behaves like wood.

Prefab CFS doesn’t make you edgy.

It makes you predictable.

And in today’s insurance markets, capital markets, and schedule environments…

• Using fax machines for contracts
• Building cars without seatbelts

But in construction?

“We’ve always done it this way” is said with pride.

Not curiosity.

Here’s the problem:

Standard practice was built for:
• Cheaper money
• More labor
• Slower expectations

It was not built for 2026.

Prefab.
DFMA.
Early coordination.
Engineered systems.

These aren’t trends.

They’re responses to a different environment.

If you can’t explain why you’re doing something…

You’re not preserving tradition.

You’re avoiding change.

And avoidance is not a delivery strategy.
