I’m tired.
Every year, it's the same story. 

Around International Women’s Day, invitations from women-supporting organizations land in my inbox.   
  
They often share a common goal: advancing equity and closing the gender pay gap.
  
Yet, paradoxically, when it comes to compensating the speakers, panelists, and mentors they recruit ... there’s silence.   
  
Some truly don’t have the budget at all, and I completely understand that.

Waiting for a job is painful but wasting the waiting is dangerous. The saddest thing is not waiting for opportunity; it’s meeting it unprepared.

Waiting can be one of the hardest places to live.

Waiting for a job.
Waiting for admission.

It’s a quiet, often sad season  not because nothing is happening, but because nothing is visible.

Yet Scripture shows us something important: 

God rarely wastes waiting seasons.

Joseph waited in a prison before the palace.

David waited in obscurity before the throne.

Jesus waited thirty years before three years of ministry.

The waiting was not delay 

it was preparation.

The Bible says:

Do you see a man diligent in his work? He will stand before kings.
— Proverbs 22:29



Diligence doesn’t start when the opportunity arrives.

It starts long before anyone is watching.

While you are waiting to be employed, build capacity.

Learn the skills you’ll need.
Refine your thinking.
Strengthen your discipline.

While you are waiting to climb the academic ladder, build capacity.
Read beyond the syllabus.

Sharpen your research skills.
Train your mind for the level you’re praying for.

There is nothing more painful than finally receiving an opportunity — and realizing you’re not ready for it.

Scripture warns us:

The gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
— Proverbs 18:16



But a gift that opens doors without capacity to sustain the room becomes a burden, not a blessing.

Waiting seasons are not empty seasons.
They are forming seasons.

What you become while waiting determines how long you will last when the door opens.

So today, don’t just wait.
Prepare.
Build.
Study.
Practice.

Your time is coming.
Make sure you are ready to carry it when it does.
