My name is Youmie Jean Francois. Haitian made, Bronx raised. At my core, I am someone deeply in love with movement. Across borders, through ideas, and within people.

I’m a pilot with an insatiable love for travel and freedom. An author who believes healing can live on the page, A money trauma expert, helping people rewrite their relationship with wealth, A business strategist supporting leaders as they scale with intention, and a travel wellness expert redefining how we move through the world without burning out. 

As a keynote speaker and workshop leader, I’ve had the honor of helping leaders and organizations grow, scale, and lead with clarity, confidence, and carefor both their people and their bottom line. 

I’m also the Founder of Flex-N-Fly. A travel wellness company that brings wellnness srudios into airports. we provide stretching,  yoga, and relaxation classes to anxious travelers in airports.

Finally, I'm the Founder and president of The Flex-N-Fly Foundation where our mission is to bring access and empowerment to underserved communities in New york City. Access through travel, wellness, and entrepreneurship, We believe exposure changes lives. Our programs help people become pilots, offer free wellness programs in neighborhoods, and educate entrepreneurs on how to scale their businesses. 

Outside of titles and roles, I love to dance.
If Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody,” or Burna Boy, "On the Low"  comes on… just know I will absolutely be on the dance floor. No hesitation. No shame. Pure joy.

My sister is the love of my life and no one in this world makes me laugh so hard. The laughter that I experience with her is something I often think of. It's the best. 

but what moves me the most, is watching people live out their dreams. Seeing someone step into alignment, bet on themselves, and say yes to the life they want will never get old for me. Ultimately, I just want everyone to win. Genuinely. 

I believe success and softness can coexist.
I believe in rest as much as I respect hard work, and I believe we should keep pursuing the life we know we're worthy of no matter how long it takes.

Youmie Jean Francois

So, I'm a pilot. 
Most people don’t know this about me, but I’m a private pilot. 

I don't usually talk about this publicly because this was a personal goal of mine, and becoming a private pilot is not for the faint of heart. It requires discipline, patience, and a deep respect for the sky. When I decided to get my license, I told two people: my sister and my best friend, Ashton August, because I knew that it was going to be rigorous and expensive, and time-consuming. 

It meant:
•⁠ ⁠Hundreds of hours of ground school studying aerodynamics, weather patterns, airspace regulations, navigation, and aircraft systems
•⁠ ⁠Passing a written FAA knowledge exam
•⁠ ⁠Logging required flight hours with certified instructors
•⁠ ⁠Mastering takeoffs, landings, emergency procedures, and solo flights
•⁠ ⁠Passing a rigorous checkride with an FAA examiner
•⁠ ⁠Constant training, recurrency, and humility, because aviation teaches you very quickly that you are always learning

I didn’t pursue my pilot license for status or novelty. I pursued it for one simple reason: I love being in the sky, and I have a deep love for the aviation industry. 
I don’t drive,  but I fly. I'll fly a plane, I'll sky dive, just put me in the sky or in the airport and I'm happy. I love the precision, the responsibility, the teamwork, and the way the aviation industry demands presence and respect for the body, mind, and environment.

And that love is exactly why I initially  created Flex-N-Fly. From day one, pilots, flight attendants, and the entire flight crew were at the center of our vision.
Every class, every flow, every recovery concept was designed with aviation professionals in mind. People who work long hours, cross time zones, manage stress, and are expected to perform at the highest level often neglect their own wellness. AnxietyI wanted to do something about that. I wanted to take care of the people who took care of us when we traveled. 

Travel anxiety doesn't have favorites. It can affect anyone, anywhere, at any time. As we get closer to opening our airport wellness studio, I want this to be clear: You are not walking into a wellness space built by someone guessing what your body needs. You are stepping into a studio created by someone with real aviation experience, real education, and a deep respect for the industry.

Flex-N-Fly is here to change the way people travel: 
• By supporting nervous and anxious flyers
•⁠ ⁠By helping travelers move, stretch, and regulate their nervous systems
•⁠ ⁠By giving flight crews a place to reset, recover, and feel human again
•⁠ ⁠By redefining airports as spaces for wellness, not just endurance

This isn’t a trend. This is being built by someone who understands the sky, travelers, and airports. As I've said since 2018, we are bridging the gap between travel and wellness.

Has your hope ever been wounded? 

When Dr.  Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, there were stories of Black small business owners along Beale Street, the heartbeat of the Black community, closing their shops in mourning, not just out of fear and anger, but out of heartbreak. They were grieving, and hope felt very distant.  Beale Street had long been a place of Black ownership, culture, music, and economic survival. When the news spread, that historic corridor went quiet, and chaos rose. 

Those business owners understood something deeply: Dr. King’s work wasn’t abstract. It was economic. It was personal. It was about dignity, access, and the right to build something of your own. He was in Memphis fighting for sanitation workers, fighting for fair wages, respect, and the ability for working people to sustain their families and their businesses. Dr. King believed that economic justice was inseparable from civil rights. He understood that small businesses weren’t just businesses; they were lifelines.

As a Black woman small business owner, I know this truth firsthand. I would not be where I am today if Dr. King had not been who he was in this country.
If he hadn’t challenged systems that were designed to exclude us.
If he hadn’t pushed this nation to reckon, however imperfectly, with who gets to dream, build, and lead.

Every contract signed.
Every door opened.
Every time my company is taken seriously in rooms where people like me were never meant to be, there is a straight line back to his courage.

Today, I don’t just celebrate his legacy. I carry it. 
Because building a business as a Black woman is, in itself, an act of faith and a continuation of a legacy.

Thank you, Dr. King, for making space where there was none, and for reminding us that progress is built one bold step, one brave voice, one small business at a time.
