These signals tell you something has shifted in their world, not that they are ready to talk to a vendor. 


O is for Option Aware. 

Your prospect downloaded a white paper or attended a webinar. 

They know a problem exists but they are still figuring out what solving it even looks like (or even if it’s worth solving). 

This is where most reps blow it by jumping straight to a pitch. 

Instead, keep educating and become a trusted resource while you have their attention.


V is for Vendor Aware.

We’ve audited a number of Amazon businesses.

Different brands, 
Different industry categories. 

Same patterns keep popping up 👇

1. Traffic disappears.

Brands think they have a conversion problem. 
In reality, organic traffic has been eroding for months, 
as cheaper competitors flood the category.

2. Returns are destroying margin.

Not because the product is bad. 
But, because the content and creative isn't good enough.  
Or, the listings don’t explain sizing, fit, or usage clearly. 
You can't run an eComm business with a 20% returns rate. 


3. Ad spend keeps rising.

ACOS climbs, brands panic, then budgets get cut.
The solution lies in fixing keyword structure, creative, and match type. 

4. Nobody owns the economics.

Most brands outsource Amazon to agencies that optimize for spend, 
not profitability. 
At the end of the day, Amazon is still a unit economics business.
Traditional agencies don't understand that.

If those 4 things aren’t working, 
revenue growth doesn't matter.

Margins won’t be there.

Nobody wants to wait anymore.

And companies are capitalizing on it. 

• Uber / Lyft (faster pickups)
• Amazon Prime (faster delivery)
• Clear / TSA Pre (skip security lines)
• Spotify Premium (early access to music)
• Airline loyalty programs (priority boarding)
• Instacart Express (groceries within an hour)

Different industries,
Same strategy.

Move customers to the front of the line,
and get them to pay for it. 

As they say,..
Time is money.

Brands want to build community.


It’s buzzy.
But very few understand how.

Some communities thrive.
Others don’t.

It’s not complicated.

You need one basic framework:
Member ↔ Member connection.

Brands assume if they start a community, it’ll take off.

So they offer;

Content, courses,
Perks, discounts,
Exclusive access,
Retreats, events, etc.

That’s a start.
But it’s not scalable
if members don’t want to connect with one another.

Real scale comes from Member ↔ Member engagement.

Walmart, for example, will never have a thriving community.
There’s nothing compelling about sharing how much you saved on toothpaste.

But, Tesla, Peloton Interactive, SEPHORA, Harley-Davidson Motor Company attract passionate buyers who rally around something bigger than the product itself (Elon, fitness, beauty, and lifestyle respectively). 

Company-to-member seeds engagement.

But the member-to-member connection is what creates scale.

COMMUNITY

Agencies get paid to spend client money.

Most take a % of the media buy.
So they’re incentivized to spend more $$$.

They don’t own margin.
They don’t own inventory.
They don’t own any downside.

The model is broken. 
The incentive structure makes no sense. 

If you don’t carry risk,
you don’t think like someone who does.

Brands typically don’t need to spend more on ads.
They just need the ads to be more efficient.
They need actual ROI.

In most cases, they need operators who think like owners.

That’s the gap.
