Wednesday Women began as a ripple in 2023 as a small, intentional effort to elevate executive women. Because honoring Black women should never be confined to the shortest month of the year.

And as the mother of two amazingBlack women, this is personal for me.

Black History Month may end on the calendar, but the brilliance, leadership, influence, and impact of Black women do not.

So rather than letting the moment pass with February, I want to carry it forward.

I’m grateful for the Black women whose voices shape conversations, challenge assumptions, build companies, lead teams, create culture, and move all of us forward.

Not just in history.

The work is to keep noticing, keep crediting, keep amplifying, and keep showing up long after February ends.

March 1 felt like the right day to say that out loud. 💜

So you show up at the coffee shop you made a reservation for your event 15 minutes early as requested and no one is there. 

🚫 It’s closed. 
Lights are off. 
20 women are mingling outside.
Probably an event planner’s nightmare.

But they don’t have “Super Sam”! Samantha Archuleta found us an alternative location within five minutes that would be setting up our table on our walk over. Amazing! 

Sometimes things are just meant to happen. Our coffee was delicious, we got in a few hundred extra steps, we still had an amazing time learning about each other and finding ways we could support one another. 

And the extra bonus? Avotoasty is a woman owned business. Thank you to Sofia Guglani and your amazing team for working on the fly and helping us have an amazing event. We will absolutely be back.

I’m looking for women who deserve more spotlight for the work they’re doing to help teams perform, influence strategy, and drive real revenue impact.

In my opinion, a lot of women in enablement are doing work that goes far beyond what the title suggests. They’re building the systems and momentum behind high-performing revenue teams. 

Honestly, many of them look a whole lot more like “revenue activators” than the traditional label gives them credit for.

And yet, some of the most strategic people driving revenue are still not getting enough visibility. 🤨

Let the travel hacks commence.  

1) Buy Wednesday Women purple suitcase because you saw it in the Morning Brew newsletter (brand partnership? 🤙😁💜).

2) Order your coffee as you’re driving into the airport or as you’re deplaning.  No long  line to then wait forever for your coffee.  Girls gotta have caffeine first thing.  

3) At least in Dallas, you no longer have to go to the airport to get TSAPreCheck. I got mine at Staples. #gamechanger 

4) When you’re traveling, do “community “everywhere”. Meaning reach out to your community and set up coffee dates.  I’m in SF and have coffee and dinner already planned for tonight.  Also 2 coffees and drinks set up in Seattle at the end of the month.  These are outside of our official events.  

5) Bring a good book. I’m always thinking about the experience and psychology of our events and reading Unreasonable Hospitality is taking this to a whole new level.

International Women’s Day sharing a date with Daylight Saving Time feels almost poetic.

A day about women.
A day with more light.

There are so many brave women I know who aren’t afraid to step into the light and just as many who aren’t afraid to /gently push/nudge/or shove, if necessary, another woman toward it.

Not every brave woman is the one at the center.

Sometimes she’s the one…
…making the intro.
…giving the endorsement.
…opening the door.
…sharing the opportunity.
…passing the mic.
… giving another woman that nudge to be seen.

That matters.

I’m grateful for the women I know who own their brilliance.

And I’m equally grateful for the women who see brilliance in someone else and refuse to let it stay hidden.

That kind of generosity can change careers, confidence, communities…all of it.

Take your turn shining in the spotlight or shine it on someone else. 

We need both. 💜

What did you do this week at work? I learned how to pitch better. You may be thinking, I don't sell anything. I don't need to know how to pitch. Well, I wholeheartedly disagree. 

I was lucky enough to host a Wednesday Women Members-Only Session with the iconic Precious L. Williams RainmakingSpeaker who talked with us about Positioning with Precision.  As you can tell, we were soooo bored and no one had any fun while learning sooooo much. 😉 

Here are a few bits of wisdom I took away from the call. 
Packaging is how you show up. 
Positioning is how the market perceives your value. 
Pitching is how you communicate that value to close. 

Everyone needs to know how to pitch well.

✅Job hunting - Pitching! 
✅Getting a raise or promotion - Definitely pitching. 
✅Talking to investors - They don't call it a "pitch deck" for no reason. 
✅Getting paid your worth to speak - Yep, still pitching. 
✅Sharing your business with a prospect - Well, duh! 
✅Getting your toddler to get dressed - You guessed it.
✅Asking your significant other to take out the trash - 😁 

So let's just say, we left with a lot of wisdom and fired up to implement it.

Can we talk about how we're systematically destroying the SDR role? $45K base salary. In San Francisco. In 2025.

That's not a job. That's economic violence with a LinkedIn title.

And then we wonder why SDR turnover is 35% annually. Why quality is declining. Why nobody wants to do outbound anymore.

We treat SDRs like disposable batteries instead of future revenue leaders.

I've been that SDR. 80 calls a day. Rejected 79 times. Making less than a Target manager while being told I'm "lucky to have a foot in the door."

The door to what? Poverty?

The math is broken:

Average SDR generates $1M+ in pipeline
Gets paid $65K if they're lucky
Has 18-month average tenure
Leaves with zero equity

Meanwhile, that Series B founder's raising another round based on the pipeline SDRS built.

Here's my radical proposal:

Minimum $70K base (yes, everywhere)
Actual career pathing beyond "maybe AE someday"
Equity. Real equity. Not 0.001% that vests over 47 years.
Training budget that isn't just "shadow Dave for a week"

"But Evan, we can't afford—"

Stop. If you can't afford to pay the people generating your revenue a living wage, you don't have a business. You have a exploitation scheme with a pitch deck.

The companies getting this right are stealing all the talent. And they should.

Time to choose: Evolution or extinction.

One of the more annoying scams on LinkedIn is watching people who sell “LinkedIn growth” use their own follower growth as proof that they can help completely different businesses win the same way.

Of course they grew.

They post about growing on LinkedIn.

The platform is full of people who want exactly that, so the content travels fast, the metrics look sexy, and suddenly they are holding up their own graph like it means anything for a founder selling cybersecurity, a consultant selling enterprise change work, or a company trying to move a complicated B2B offer.

That is where the lie creeps in.

A person who sells LinkedIn growth and a person who sells solar panels to commercial buyers are not playing the same game.

One is rewarded for broad attention while the other is rewarded for trust, relevance, and being taken seriously by the right people.

Very different job.

A lot of the advice being sold right now only works if your actual product is attention.

So people copy the style:

- They flatten their thinking into platitudes.
- They start writing for other creators instead of actual buyers.
- Their numbers go up.
- Their credibility quietly goes down.

That trade is a lot worse than people realize.

Because a B2B founder does not need “creator growth” if it attracts the wrong audience, trains the market to see them as generic, or makes their expertise feel lighter than it really is.

Most smart businesses do not need more visibility in the abstract.

Instead, they need the right people to understand what they do, remember how they think, and trust them enough to start a serious conversation when timing changes.

That usually looks a lot less flashy than the internet wants it to.

- Smaller reach
- Stronger signal
- Better buyers

I care a lot more about whether your content builds authority, sharpens your positioning, and creates commercial momentum than whether it picked up 400 vanity comments from people who were never going to buy in the first place.

LinkedIn can absolutely drive business.

Just not when you confuse creator metrics with market traction.

That confusion is costing a lot of good operators time, money, and reputation.
