I haven’t been active on LinkedIn for over 𝟵 months.

Since I started posting again 2 weeks ago, I felt very lost.

My feed looks different,
old formats don’t work anymore,
and everyone is complaining about low reach.

Then I found the new 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 by AuthoredUp and it all started to make sense.

(thanks Ivana Todorovic, it's pure gold! 🤩)

Here are the 4 biggest shifts you need to know:

1️⃣. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲

→ Median reach dropped ~47% in a year.
→ Video collapsed the most. Images, documents, and even text posts lost reach too.

In 2024 the median LinkedIn post was ~1,211 people, in 2025 it collapsed to ~636.

2️⃣. 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹

→ One save = as much reach as five likes.
→ Saved posts grow creators 3× faster.

Readers save content that feels like a resource - guides, templates, checklists, deep insights.

3️⃣. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

→ Posts that are easy to scan get 27% more reach.
→ Short paragraphs, simple flow, clean formatting. 

If your post feels like homework, people keep scrolling.

4️⃣. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸

→ In 2021 the sweet spot was 1,200–1,300 characters.
→ In 2025 it’s 800–1,200.

Shorter posts with sharp 1–3 line paragraphs keep people reading.

So what does this all mean?

You’re not doing anything wrong.
The feed is simply more competitive and stricter.

You win by being clear, useful, and worth saving.

How is 𝗣𝗲𝘄𝗗𝗶𝗲𝗣𝗶𝗲 better at AI than 99% of the LinkedIn AI experts?

(including me)

While most of us talk about "AI", Felix actually built one.

He spent last few months turning his ridiculous $20k PC into a fully self-hosted AI lab.

➜ No cloud credits.

➜ No "add your API key".

Just open-source models running locally on a raw hardware machine w/ 8 x Nvidia RTX 4090 GPUs.

Here’s what he figured out:

(lessons even non-technical people can use)

1️⃣. 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗜 = 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁

Cloud AI remembers everything. Local AI remembers only what you give it, and it never leaves your machine.

2️⃣. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀

He ran a 120B+ model for fun... then discovered that tiny 2B models (which you can run on a laptop) can become really powerful when paired with search and memory.

3️⃣. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗲

He created his own AI interface, added audio, search, citations, memory, and even a council of AIs that debate and vote. Zero vendor lock-in.

4️⃣. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹

Your hardware, your data, your rules. He can extend or break the system down however he wants.

5️⃣. 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

Instead of relying on paid tools, he learned how GPUs, quantization, memory limits, and model configs work. He stopped being a prompt user and truly learned the tech behind AI.

His final realization?

Most people don't need massive AI models, they need small, fast ones connected to the right tools. And you can run those on almost any computer.

That’s why he’s ahead of the "experts" - he actually uses AI instead of just talking about it.

The wild part?

The biggest concern isn’t UFOs…

It’s that secret contractor groups have allegedly been reverse-engineering this tech since 1947, outside government oversight, and have full control over it.

If one nation or corporation cracks this first?

That’s game over for global power balance.

Space, air, oceans, energy, weapons, transportation - everything changes.

We’re entering a new era.

AI will 𝗡𝗢𝗧 replace mid-level engineers.
 
But mid-level engineers who ignore AI will get replaced by the ones who don’t.

The truth is: AI isn’t taking engineering jobs yet.
  
It’s just widening the gap between engineers who adapt and engineers who stay “good enough”.

And mid-level is exactly where this gap becomes dangerous.

Here’s what I keep seeing:

• Juniors are learning AI from day one.
• Seniors already know how to use it as leverage.
• Mid-levels? They’re stuck in the middle - scared to fall behind, unsure where to start.

If that’s you - hear this:

AI isn’t here to 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 your skills.  
It’s here to 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝘆 them.

The engineers who win in the next 2–5 years will be the ones who can:

→ ship faster without burning out
→ automate the boring 40% of their work
→ think at a higher level than “task executors”
→ solve problems instead of just writing code

AI gives you all of that 𝗶𝗳 you learn to use it properly.

And no, “using ChatGPT to debug” isn’t enough.

Your real edge will come from learning how to:
 
• iterate faster
• design better solutions
• understand systems, not just syntax
• free up time to learn the skills that actually move your career forward

☒ AI won’t make you irrelevant.
☑ Staying stagnant will.

I’m not trying to be a doomer, but a HUGE shift is coming because of AI.

And it has already started. 🥶

Big companies are continuing their layoffs while making record profits.

And if you think it’ll affect just the entry-level and low performers - think again.

Microsoft has just laid off one of their top engineers who’s been there for 18 years and has worked on TypeScript for over a decade.

I’m sure he’s gonna be fine, but what about you?

In the US alone there were already millions of layoffs in 2025. No, it’s not normal - stats are record high.

And if you thought that you can always just work as a DPD driver I have bad news.

They also recently started heavily replacing people with robots and AI.

How to work against it?

Build 👏 your 👏 own 👏 shit 👏

You need to have something to your name the moment it hits you and that's not "if", but "when".

Whether it’s a personal brand, profitable side-project or a small product.

It’s never been easier to build things with AI and you don’t need to be a techie to do it anymore.

A few insights:

- Engagements =/= Views
Post #1 got 3x less engagements, but 6x more views than post #3.

- Organic reach > Forced engagements
Post #3 had a bunch of early engagements including 2 reposts from pretty big accounts, but that didn't translate to a lot of views.

- Views =/= Leads
It was the less successful posts with <1k views aimed specifically at my niche (Tech & AI) that started meaningful conversations for me.

Summary:

When building your brand always be authentic and post about the things that interest you. (like aliens 👽)

If you haven't been active for a very long time, don't worry - just get back to it and the results might surprise you.

Even if your posts don't get that many views they still might get you valuable connections.

Most people think AI knows everything.

It doesn’t.  

It only knows what it was trained on and that training ended long time ago.

Which means it has no idea about your files, your notes, your processes.

So how do you make AI actually useful?

You give it RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation)

Here’s the simple version:

┌📁 You store your documents privately  
├🔍 AI searches them when you ask something  
└🧠 It answers using your real data

RAG is basically a supercharged Ctrl + F that can also write full sentences.

Example:  

1. You ask: What is our refund policy?  
2. RAG finds the exact paragraph in your PDF.
3. AI rewrites it into a clean, accurate answer you can send immediately.

✨ No hallucinations  
✨ No guessing  
✨ No made-up facts

Why RAG matters:

• Customer support gets instant accurate replies  
• Teams stop digging through endless docs  
• Your notes become a personal knowledge engine  
• Leaders get clarity without hunting for info  
• Even tiny local models become incredibly powerful

And yes, this works on normal hardware.  
You do not need huge GPUs.  
You just need your own data.

You've probably seen this chart multiple times already…

But do you know what it actually shows?

It’s called the 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲 or 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲.

It describes how new technology spreads in few different cycles.

This curve also explains why AI is creating huge opportunities for some engineers…

While others feel like they’re about to get replaced.

And it can tell you exactly where you stand in the AI shift happening right now:

👨‍🔬 | Innovators – building AI tools, experimenting daily
🚀 | Early adopters – using AI to boost productivity
🌊 | Early majority – “I should probably start using this…”
🏢 | Late majority – forced to adapt by their employers
🐢 | Laggards – still pretending AI is just a buzzword

Here’s the harsh truth:

→ Most mid-level engineers are stuck in the early majority.

They wait for:

- the “best AI course”  
- stable company adoption  
- clear guidelines  
- perfect tools

Meanwhile early adopters are:

✅ - shipping faster
✅ - automating tasks
✅ - building side projects
✅ - becoming the AI person on their team

Same job.
Same skills.
Different outcome.

☒ | AI alone won’t replace engineers.
☑ | But engineers who ignore AI will be replaced by the ones who master it.

In 2–3 years, the market will look VERY different.

So ask yourself:

Are you learning AI now, while the advantage is big?

Or will you wait until it’s mandatory and the opportunity is gone?
