With 25 years of experience in digital design, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless businesses — from startup to Fortune 50 —  navigate their design and marketing challenges.

On the SaaS product side, as a UX & UI design specialist, I’m particularly jazzed about making complex screens feel simple — even for expert users. I believe good design gets out of the way (for the user), but can be a powerful weapon (for sales).

On the marketing side, I focus on streamlining design as a vehicle for the real important stuff: content marketing and demand generation. I’ve seen how the right design can amplify a brand’s message and drive significant growth.

Responsible for project leadership from definition of customer requirements, through shipping.  Made product modifications in Solidworks to alter approved FAA STC products to conform with customer aircraft specifications.

As product designer, I was responsible for designing new products to meet customer needs.  Taking product from design ideas, through engineering, to production, passing  the product data on to certification and product delivery.  Worked closely with customers on a regular basis to insure design goals were incorporated into product, and to communicated progress of the project to stakeholders. Responsibilities included; programming data acquisition systems, building data communication networks, configuration of Linux clusters, establishing laboratory data repository-archival, training users in the operation and optimization of models in a parallel computing environment, QA/QC management under ISO 17025, fire scene investigation, creation of relevant fire testing/modeling and testimony in a criminal trial along with civil case depositions.

I provide product management, technical support, and training services for PyroSim and Pathfinder at Thunderhead Engineering Consultants, Inc. I develop content and teach courses for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). I am on the Board of Governors and a member of various Technical Committees with the SFPE Research Foundation.

My previous position was part of the Fire Fighting Technology Group in the Engineering Laboratory at NIST. I primarily focused on fire simulations and on Informatics and Information Management related to scientific datasets.

For my work in the simulation and reconstruction of actual fire incidents, I specialized in acquiring and generating geometry, material data, and other inputs for fire models and conducting parametric studies of ignition location, ventilation, and material flammability for different scenarios.

My first position at NIST was as a member of the Fire Modeling Group. I established modern best practices for FDS and Smokeview code development and distribution, archiving, bug reporting, and other fundamental capabilities. I assembled a cohesive collaboration and communication platform to improve developer and support communication between the core development team and users of the FDS-SMV software package.

Before working at NIST, in the fire science field, I worked for approximately five years at Western Fire Center, Inc. (WFCi) in Kelso, WA. At WFCi, I performed many of the same functions as at NIST, expert witness, litigation support for fire loss and fatality cases, and Laboratory QA Management under ISO 17025 accreditation.

Before my work at NIST, I was a Project Manager and Product Designer at LifePort Inc. in Woodland, WA. There I lead an excellent team to create a successful product for aeromedical evacuation and emergency transportation, known as the Stanchion Litter Systems (SLS).
