Helped a new VP of Sales at an Enterprise AI Client hire the first 3 members of his Sales Team: Our team consulted with the VP to identify the profiles he needed, researched and built a list of target companies to source from, then reached out nationwide to over 350 AEs in our network, interviewed/screened over 70, submitted 30 to the VP for review, and he hired 3 - saving 100’s of man-hours in the process.

We've built out and engineering teams with the top 30 startups across the country.

Placed Director of Growth at a Fintech Startup: After hiring the Director of Growth, we were asked if we could help with two PM roles, they were struggling with filling. A bootstrapped SaaS founder ran a webinar campaign with us.
3.9% booking rate. 14 qualified conversations. £180K pipeline.

Lower volume than other campaigns, but higher intent.

Here's the difference:
Most webinar campaigns optimize for registrations. More people in the room = better results, right?

Only sometimes. Every business is different.

This founder targeted senior leaders at enterprise accounts. The kind of people who don't show up for "10 tips" webinars.

The approach:
→ Personal invitations (not mass email blasts)
→ Focused presentation (not a sales pitch disguised as education)
→ Follow-up within 24 hours (not a drip sequence 3 weeks later)

The result:
Lower registration numbers, but the people who showed up were decision-makers with budget.

3.9% doesn't sound sexy. But when your average deal size is £50K+, it's brilliant.

Volume strategies work for low-ticket offers. But for high-ticket B2B? Quality beats quantity every time.

Are you optimizing for more leads or better leads?

"How do I get clients without cold outreach? I hate it, but referrals aren't enough."

Fair question. Here's the framework that's working:
The 50-100-6 Method (what we use at Captrr)

Step 1: The 50-100

Map your highest-value relationships. Not everyone. Just:
→ Decision-makers in your target accounts
→ Influencers who shape buying decisions
→ Strategic partners who serve your ICP

Most consultants have 50-100 people who, if they knew you properly, would send business your way.

The problem? They don't know you properly.

Step 2: The Conversation Map

For each person on your list, ask:
"What conversation would give them value AND demonstrate my expertise?"

Examples:
→ Be a guest on a podcast they listen to
→ Host a webinar for their community

You're not asking for a meeting. You're offering value through contribution.

Step 3: The 6 Conversations

Target: 6 strategic conversations per quarter.

That's 2 per month. Completely manageable.

Each conversation:
→ Demonstrates your thinking (better than any pitch)
→ Creates social proof (you're credible by association)
→ Builds relationship equity (not transactional)
→ Generates content (12-15 pieces from one conversation)

Step 4: The Amplification

Most people stop after the conversation. That's the mistake.

Turn each conversation into:
→ 8-10 LinkedIn posts (quotes + context)
→ 2 articles (expanded thinking)
→ 1 framework or guide (lead magnet)
→ Email sequence (nurture)

Distribute to your 50-100 list. Tag the people involved. Let them amplify.

The Math:
6 conversations × 12 pieces of content = 72 touchpoints per quarter

All rooted in real conversations. Not manufactured content.

That consultant? Three months in:
→ 4 conversations completed (2 podcast guests, 2 webinars)
→ 2 qualified opportunities in pipeline
→ 1 strategic partnership forming

Time investment: 90 minutes per conversation + 1 hour per week on amplification.

I spent yesterday mapping out webinar campaigns for Q1.

Here's what that actually looks like (not the Instagram version):
9am: Coffee. Stare at a spreadsheet of 40 potential topics.
10am: Cross out 35 of them. Most are "interesting" but won't move pipeline.
11am: Research who's already talking about the remaining 5 topics. 
12pm: Check: Does this topic get our client in front of decision-makers or just tire-kickers?
2pm: Draft invitation list. This is the bit that matters most.
3pm: Realize we're trying to boil the ocean. Cut the list by 60%.
4pm: Build the sequence: invite → webinar → follow-up → content distribution.

The bit nobody talks about:
80% of pipeline comes from 20% of attendees. So we spend 80% of our time on the invitation list and 20% on the webinar content.

Most people do it backwards. They obsess over slides and forget who's in the room.

The result:
A 32.1% booking rate on one campaign. 3.9% on another. Both profitable, both predictable.

What takes up most of your time when planning events — content or getting the right people in the room?

Unpopular opinion:
Most B2B founders are building audiences when they should be building relationships.

Everyone's optimizing for:
→ More followers
→ Higher engagement rates
→ Viral posts

But no one's optimizing for conversations with people who can write cheques.

Real pipeline isn't built by going viral.

It's built by showing up in the right rooms, having the right conversations, and staying top-of-mind with the 200 people who matter.

Here's the truth:
You don't need 10,000 LinkedIn connections. You need 200 people who know what you do, trust how you do it, and remember you when the problem you solve becomes urgent.

The shift:
Stop chasing scale. Start chasing relevance.

Map your highest-value relationships. Place yourself in strategic conversations. Turn those into content that opens more doors.

That's how expert-led businesses build pipeline without becoming influencers.

What's your take — does audience size actually matter for B2B pipeline?

I caught myself doing something this week that I normally stop clients from doing pretty quickly: I got too close to my own work. 

When that happens, judgement goes first. Not because the thinking is wrong, but because the work stops being “the work” and starts feeling like a referendum on you. 

That’s when the usual suspects show up: procrastination, the sense it’s not quite good enough, and impostor syndrome wearing a nicer outfit called “being thoughtful.”

The giveaway for me is always the same: I start negotiating with myself. I second-guess decisions I’d make in five minutes if this were a client project, and I start treating uncertainty as sophistication. It isn’t. It’s just proximity.

This is why distance matters. Not emotional distance, but strategic distance. 

The ability to step back and ask, “What’s actually going on here?” and, “What would I advise if this weren’t mine?” I hold clients to that standard, so I re-applied it to my own work.

Closeness doesn’t equal commitment, and it definitely doesn’t improve judgement. If this sounds familiar, it’s probably not a confidence issue. It’s a proximity issue.
