We can’t control the ugliness in the world.

War.
Corruption. 
Hate.
Cruelty.
Systemic Division.

I wish we could.

But here’s what we can control:

Our actions.
Our words.
Our choices.
How we treat the people right in front of us.

And in seasons like this, that’s not “small.”
That’s leadership.

Because the world doesn’t change overnight through one grand speech. 
It changes through ordinary people choosing to be extraordinary daily.

So if you’ve been feeling heavy lately, here’s a simple question to anchor yourself:

Where can I be the good today?
	•	Check on the friend who’s been quiet.
	•	Tip a little more than usual.
	•	Speak up when something feels wrong.
	•	Apologize when you’re the one who missed the mark.
	•	Encourage someone who’s doubting themselves.
	•	Stop feeding the algorithm your outrage and start feeding your life your values.

You don’t need to carry the whole world. But you can carry your corner of it with more compassion, integrity, and courage.

Be the good.
Be the light.
Be the person you wish existed more of.

Because when enough of us do that…the “ugliness” doesn’t win.

We can’t change the past.

I used to think math became irrelevant in adult life.

Outside of tax season.
Budgeting.
Maybe calculating interest rates.

That was it.

But then I reread Atomic Habits and one line stopped me in my tracks:

“Every day, you are voting for the person you want to become.”

And suddenly… math showed up everywhere.

Because life is cumulative.

Every small decision counts.
Every habit compounds.
Every choice adds up.

Change doesn’t happen in lightning-strike moments.
It happens quietly.
Incrementally.
Almost invisibly.

It’s the 1% decisions we make every day:
– Choosing to speak up or stay silent
– Moving your body or staying on the couch
– Having the hard conversation or avoiding it
– Reading a few pages or scrolling mindlessly
– Resting or burning yourself out (again)

Individually, they seem insignificant.
But stacked together?

They shape your identity.

You don’t wake up one day confident.
You become confident by keeping promises to yourself.
You don’t suddenly feel purposeful.
You build purpose by aligning your actions with your values—daily.
You don’t “find” the life you want.
You compound your way into it.

That’s the real math of life.

If you want to change your life,
don’t overhaul everything overnight.

Change the small things.
The repeatable things.
The daily things.

Because who you become isn’t decided by one big moment—
it’s the sum of the choices you make when no one is watching.

What’s meant for you can’t be taken from you.
Not by a missed opportunity.
Not by someone else getting picked.
Not by a door that closed.

I’ve learned this the hard way.

There were moments I thought, “If only I had said the right thing… been faster… been more like them.”
But with time and perspective, I see it clearly now:

What’s truly yours doesn’t require you to beg, contort, or betray who you are to keep it.

And what isn’t meant for you?
No amount of force, hustle, or overthinking will make it stay.

Closed doors aren’t punishments.
They’re protection.
They’re redirection.
They’re life saying, “This isn’t your path—something better fits who you’re becoming.”

Trusting the process doesn’t mean it won’t hurt.
It means you stop interpreting every delay as a failure and every rejection as a verdict on your worth.

What’s yours will find you—
when you’re ready,
when the timing aligns,
and when it no longer requires you to shrink.

So breathe.
Keep showing up.
Keep doing the work.

No one is you.
And that’s not a weakness…
it’s your superpower.

So many of us spend our lives chasing approval.
We bend.
We contort.
We shrink parts of ourselves to fit into rooms that were never designed for us.

We watch others and think,
If I were more like them…
More confident.
More outspoken.
More polished.
More “acceptable.”

But what if the very things you’ve been trying to fix…
are the things that make you rare?

Your sensitivity.
Your depth.
Your unconventional path.
Your quiet strength.
Your scars.
Your story.

The world doesn’t need another copy.
It needs your perspective.
Your lived experience.
Your way of seeing, feeling, and leading.

Here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:
The moment you stop trying to be chosen by everyone,
you finally become magnetic to the right people.

You don’t need to be more like anyone else.
You don’t need permission to be yourself.
You don’t need to dilute your truth to belong.

Flaws and all, this is the work.
This is the becoming.

No one is you.
And that is exactly why you matter.

I know I said 2025 sucked.
And honestly… it did.
Like really sucked.

There were moments this past year that knocked the wind out of me.
Loss. Disappointment. Fatigue. The kind that seeps into your bones.

But here’s the thing.

When I slow down, when I actually pause and start counting my blessings, I realize something humbling:

My cup runneth over.

Not because everything was easy.
Not because the pain wasn’t real.
But because even in the hardest seasons, there was still so much grace.

Love.
Friendship.
Health.
Purpose.
A community that held me up when I felt unsteady.

We live in a world where the media profits from fear and outrage.
And our own biology doesn’t help us much either.

We’re hardwired with a negativity bias; our brains are trained to scan for danger, for what’s wrong, for what might go bad next.

That voice of self-doubt?
That imposter syndrome whispering, “Who do you think you are?”
It’s not a personal failure.
It’s innate.

But here’s the lesson I keep coming back to: one I hope you take from my posts, my work, my life:

We amplify what we focus on.

What we dwell on grows.
What we rehearse becomes familiar.
What we feed begins to shape our reality.

So yes, acknowledge the hard.
Name the grief.
Honor the struggle.

But don’t live there.

Choose to focus on joy.
On love.
On moments of light, laughter, and meaning.

Because happiness isn’t the absence of hardship.
It’s the practice of noticing what’s still good, even when life is messy.

And there is always something good, if we’re willing to look.

What you focus on today… is what you multiply tomorrow.

I used to live like everything was urgent.

Wake up. Chase the goal. Cross it off. Move the finish line. Repeat.

I didn’t pause.
I didn’t reflect.
I didn’t celebrate.

I was sprinting through life… without ever checking if I even liked where I was headed.

I was moving fast but I had no real destination.

In my book Do This Daily, I talk about this: real success starts when you get brutally honest about what matters most to you.

Not what your boss values.
Not what your peers applaud.
Not what the world rewards.

You.

That kind of clarity becomes your North Star.
It’s what pulls you out of autopilot and back into a life you actually recognize.

Because life is like a GPS:

If you don’t enter the address, you’ll still drive.
You’ll still burn gas.
You’ll still feel “productive.”

But you might end up anywhere.

In life, that “address” is intentionality.
It’s choosing to live by design… not by default.

So today, I’m inviting you to pause.

Not because you’re quitting.
Not because you’re falling behind.

But because you’re finally waking up.

Ask yourself:
	•	What actually matters most to me right now?
	•	Am I building the life I want… or just staying busy?
	•	If I keep going at this pace, where will I be a year from now?

Your answers might change everything.

Pause.
Breathe.
Reflect.

When you first learn anything, it feels a little scary.

Think about the first time you learned how to ride a bike.
Wobbly. Unsteady. A little terrifying.
You scraped a knee or two. You probably wanted to quit.

That was your learning zone.

Here’s what I’ve noticed: most people mistake that discomfort as a sign they’re not meant for it.
So they retreat back to the comfort zone.

But the comfort zone is quiet.
It’s familiar.
And it keeps you exactly where you are.

No growth happens there.

Growth happens when you’re willing to wobble.

The learning zone is awkward.
You don’t feel confident yet.
You don’t have all the answers.
Your inner critic gets loud.

That’s not failure.
That’s progress.

And if you stay long enough—if you keep pedaling—you enter the growth zone.
What once felt impossible becomes second nature.
Balance replaces fear.
Confidence replaces doubt.

Here’s the truth I keep coming back to:
If you’re uncomfortable, you’re probably learning.
If you’re learning, you’re moving.
And movement changes everything.

So if you’re starting something new:
A role.
A project.
A dream you’ve been sitting on.

Let yourself wobble.
Trust the process.
And don’t turn back just because it feels unfamiliar.

That’s how growth begins.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about mental health.

Not the buzzword version.
The real, everyday kind.

The kind that requires rest, not just resilience.
The kind that asks you to pause, not push harder.
The kind that reminds you that not every battle deserves your energy.

Here’s something I’ve learned the hard way:

You don’t need to take the toxic work culture home. 

Some things should be left at work. 

That’s why they call it work and not homework (sorry, I had to). 

You don’t have to let a negative person live rent-free in your mind.
Their stress.
Their bitterness.
Their unresolved stuff.

It’s not yours to carry.

Protecting your mental health sometimes looks like:
	•	Taking a break before you burn out
	•	Logging off instead of powering through
	•	Creating emotional boundaries with people who drain you
	•	Choosing not to engage, explain, or absorb

Rest is not laziness.
It’s wisdom.

And strength isn’t measured by how much you can tolerate, eit’s measured by how well you take care of yourself.

You can be ambitious and rested.
Driven and grounded.
Compassionate without self-abandonment.

So if you need permission today, here it is:
Slow down.
Breathe.
Protect your peace.

Your mind is sacred.
Treat it that way.

About four years ago, I started posting on LinkedIn.

And if I’m being honest? As an introverted empath, it felt… yucky.
