Third-person POV ads are currently crushing on social media.

The reason this is a great ad is that it looks super organic.

It has nothing to do with direct-response marketing and everything to do with producing something that people are used to seeing on their feed.

When you 'sneakily' film someone else performing an action (which is staged, of course), people don't perceive it as an ad because they are not used to seeing many ads like this one.

It does not trigger their pattern-recognition system.

And the reason why typical talking-head UGC ads don't work anymore is because they trigger the pattern-recognition system - people know that most ads are the same - someone talking to the camera, pitching a product.

So when you do something out of the box, it usually works.

People watch it for longer, the algorithm prioritises it as it's keeping users on the platform, which makes the ad cannibalize all the ad spend.

This is a big swing idea that you should try if your product allows you to.

They are harder to execute, but when done right, the upside is huge.

CPMr is the most underrated metric to look at when analyzing your ad performance.

CPMr = Cost per 1,000 Accounts Centre accounts reached

We recently started working with a brand that came to us saying they can not scale their ad account and believe the issue is not having any cold-audience ad creatives.

When I analyzed their ad account, I saw that all of their ads were product demonstrations.

Nothing else.

When your ad library is full of ads that only focus on your product, you're targeting a Solution Aware market.

A Solution Aware market is a pool of people who have a pre-existing desire. 

They know they have a problem, they are aware of multiple solutions on the market, they just don't know your solution exists yet.

This is the audience that 90% of the eCommerce brands focus on.

And it’s a pretty small audience in most cases so you saturate it quickly.

This client was producing new ads every week.

They've been sold on the 'creative volume' lie that every single guru is selling you on.

More creatives = better results.

That's wrong.

They did not know what the problem was, so I decided to go deeper.

When you go inside the Ads Manager, click on Columns, and select Delivery.

What I saw there told me everything I needed to know.

CPM = $11.47
CPMr = $32.40

This is the clearest indication that your ads are NOT hitting new audiences. 

They are cycling through people who've already seen your ads before.

If your goal is to constantly reach new audiences with your ads, your CPMr should be as close as possible to your CPM.

This is what a true TOF winning ad looks like.

ROAS is cool, but it's not the best metric to actually understand what's going on inside your ad account.

Here’s why you should run low-production static ads that make no sense to be published as an ad.

If your product is solving a painful problem and you’re selling to a 55+ year old audience, you have to understand what’s going on in the minds of these people.

These are people who’ve been raised with a newspaper in their hand - that’s how they are used to getting informed.

Through reading.

They don’t have a problem with attention spans, like a Gen Z audience would.

They still use Facebook to catch up with their friends.

And the photos they post are usually such that a Gen Z would cringe at.

But that’s how you communicate, and this is the only thing you need to care about.

So the reason why you should run boring static ads with no captions and no offers is that this is the easiest way to capture their attention.

And if you are skilled enough to write a highly-converting ad copy that follows the typical direct-response structure of:

> Relatable Hook
> Problem introduction
> Problem Agitation
> It got worse
> Until I found this one product
> That changed my life in so many amazing ways

We used a CSV export of 4000 reviews to understand who our customers were.

As a result, we created 4 truly different customer avatars.

We went 1 layer deeper and created sub-avatars for each avatar.

Then started producing content for each of them.

2. Angle Diversity

Initially, you would have no idea what’s going to work. That’s why you need a diverse set of angles for each avatar:

3. Format Diversity

If you’re competing against popular brands and you’re trying to steal their market share with Meta ads,

Write a script that discredits your competition by listing out all the reasons why they are a terrible choice.

Get a content creator to visit a grocery store and visually demonstrate why your competitors suck (showing & explaining ingredient list, demonstrating the lack of functionality, etc).

After 60 - 90 seconds of roasting your competitors, introduce your solution.

This is a super organic & viral concept that’s trending right now on social media.

It goes after a solution-aware audience segment that is currently buying or considering buying from your competitors.

You don’t need to sell them on why they need your solution - they already want it.

You are just tapping into a pre-existing desire and benefiting from all the efforts your competitors are making to educate the audience on why they need to care about the problem they are solving.

The biggest BFCM winners were:

a. Bid Caps

Not a huge fan of bid caps, but we had a client that scaled from $5k/d in ad spend to $25k/d in 3 days using bid caps.

One of our ad creatives took most of that spend, driving over $200,000 in sales.

b. Non-stop creative testing

One of our clients had a 150% increase in sales compared to Nov 2024.

They produced over 250 ads just during their BFCM promo campaign. This is how you scale past $1m/month.

c. Evergreen ad creative scaling

One of our clients who did $2M+ in Nov tested fewer BFCM ad creatives (80 in total) but relied heavily on scaling their evergreen ad creatives.

This is my favorite strategy.

Your evergreen ads generate an insane amount of sales, which helps the algorithm optimize your placement even further.

And your evergreen ads collect an insane amount of engagement, which usually extends their lifespan much further.

I would not say that I saw anything unexpected during the busiest month of the year.

The same strategies work well every year.

The key to successful BFCM for our clients this year was - more.

More ad creatives.
More emails.
More testing.

You don’t build a $1B company by using UGC content creators.

You build one through identity marketing.

You polarize 80% of the market in order to build a fanatical connection with the remaining 20%.

I just analyzed a supplement ad that is likely printing money. Why? Because it executes one of the oldest rules in Direct Response:

Don't sell the improvement. Sell the solution to a crisis.

Here is the 3-step script structure:

> problem: You feel weak, emotional, and lethargic.

> reframe: It’s not a character flaw, it’s a biological attack = mineral deficiency + societal programming).

> solution: The only way to fight back is to fix your biology with this specific product.

It’s aggressive.

It’s controversial.

But it’s also effective because it turns a "nice to have" supplement into a "must-have" for identity preservation.

1. Awareness-Level creative still wins

Most brands are still stuck on product-heavy ads - targeting only the “Most Aware” audience.

Both concepts are quite easy to understand.

The Larger Market formula implies that only 3% of your market is ready to buy immediately.

Woah — Rotten is knowingly selling gummy worms with a manufacturing error on TikTok Shop.

This may be the coolest product on TikTok Shop:

Rotten accidentally made a batch of gummy worms that were too sticky.

Instead of tossing the bad batch (which are still safe to eat), they took to TikTok Shop.

They made a couple of videos explaining the issue and offered a great price for people who wanted to try the product.

Half a million views and 10 days later, they've sold 700 units.

(I bought two bags myself)

This is probably the smartest thing I've seen a brand do with a manufacturing error:

They just introduced a TON of new people to their brand at an extremely low CAC, while saving on a manufacturing error.

Don't sleep on this channel.

TikTok Shop is getting harder.

What worked 6 months ago doesn’t work today.

6 months ago, you could:
 → Easily scale with just affiliates
 → Rely on ads to push through the platform’s cold start
 → Dominate a platform your competitors weren’t on

Now, more brands are flooding the platform,

AND TikTok is adding restrictions that make it harder to compete.

TikTok is:
 → Forcing brands to use GMV Max ads, which complicates cold starts
 → Tightening restrictions on affiliate outreach
 → Getting stricter about Shop Health issues

To compete, brands need to move with these changes.

And the best strategy we’re seeing to combat these changes:

𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬.

Getting consistent, quality content from retainer creators means:
→ More TikTok-native videos that scale in GMV Max
→ Typically better, more competitive content than affiliates (makes your product more competitive)
→ Great consistency in quality content production

TikTok Shop isn’t the wild west anymore.

But the brands that adapt fastest will still win big.

The easiest way to boost TikTok Shop profits:

Drive some of the traffic to your website.

Once our Shops start getting strong affiliate content,

We often see website ad CPAs drop by 50%+.

For the brand below:
 → CPA went from $42.61 → $14.17
 → ROAS jumped from 1.63 → 4.84
 (comparing 30-day periods)

Why does this work?

Your website usually has a higher AOV than TikTok Shop.

So once you have a great organic presence.

Test driving some traffic off-platform.

It could be an easy way to add 5–6 figures/month to your business.

What brands do best on TikTok Shop?

The data makes it pretty obvious....

Before I share, it's worth mentioning, ANY brand can do well on TikTok Shop.

We've scaled electronics, womenswear, etc. 

BUT, when you look at the data, 

Health and wellness brands have it easier than everyone else:

The revenue of this category is the 3rd highest on TikTok Shop,

But the category has very few vendors in it.

In other words, there's a very high demand, but a low supply on the platform.

Not to mention... 

Health brands TEND to have lower COGs than other products, 

So they really can play into TikTok's affiliate space.

Again, any brand can do well on this platform with the right strategy,

But some brands simply do have a better opportunity than others.

If you want to market to Gen Z effectively,

You have to master short-form video.

Based on data, TikTok is the #1 platform for product discovery among Gen Z.

Plus, 60% of Gen Z's time on Instagram and Facebook is spent watching video.

This generation is shopping DTC brands more than any other generation,

But you have to master short-form video to get in front of them.

P.S. The easiest way to master short-form video?

Use TikTok Shop’s affiliate program.

Creators make the content for you, you repurpose it across Meta, Reels, Shorts, and more.

How expensive is creator seeding on TikTok Shop?

Here’s what we see for 8-9 figure brands:

We’ll typically seed between 80–400 products per month, depending on the brand.

But people are thinking about the costs all wrong.

Spending your COGS to have someone try your product 𝘢𝘯𝘥 create content for it is a great deal.

Not only are you guaranteed social content at a rate you can’t find anywhere else, 

But also:
→ A percentage of those creators will become customers of your brand.

→ Some will become brand advocates and post about your product a lot.

→ Their friends will see it in their homes and ask about it.

→ You can get usage rights for that content. 

So while product seeding can appear expensive (especially if you don’t have a good system for it),

When done correctly, the benefits should outweigh the costs.
