Five years from diagnosis to dosing first patient.

On December 10, 2025, my sweet boy Urban became the first patient in the world to receive a gene therapy for #CTNNB1 Syndrome at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. 
In the coming months, at least 11 additional CTNNB1 patients will be treated as part of the Phase I/II #ClinicalTrial (NCT07270549).

#CTNNB1 is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder affecting ~2.6–3.2 per 100,000 births. It impacts every aspect of a child’s life. Most children cannot speak or walk. Families live with severe behavioural challenges, sleep deprivation, and constant uncertainty. Until now, there was no therapeutic option and thousands of patients are still waiting.

What followed were five years of building everything from the ground up. This journey began together with Prof. Dr. Damjan Osredkar, whose clinical and research work in CTNNB1 syndrome and rare neurological disorders made it possible.

We have been working with an amazing team at the Children's Medical Research Institute, Leszek Lisowski, PhD, MBA, Andrea Pérez  Iturralde and Florencia Haase, who developed the vector now used in this clinical trial. Our amazing partner Viralgen was responsible for GMP manufacturing.

This project exists because of an extraordinary number of people. What I can list here is only a small portion of those who made this possible.
