3 years ago, I was drowning...

As an RVP at a fast-growing tech company, my life had become an endless stream of:

• "Urgent" emails
• Back-to-back meetings
• And constant fire-fighting

Waking up early and working late into the night.

My phone was always buzzing with notifications.

To make matters worse, it was taking a toll on my family.

The breaking point:

Missing my son's jujitsu belt test.

Something I'd promised I wouldn't do.

That night, seeing the disappointment in his eyes, I knew something had to change.

I spent the next year obsessively learning, developing & testing different productivity systems that would allow me to:

• Still perform at a high level
• Stop feeling perpetually overwhelmed
• End working nights/weekends just to keep up

I started creating what I called "mini-systems"

Small changes that had a compounding effect.

What began as a quest to regain control of my calendar...

Evolved into an operating system that helped me recover 10+ hours every week.

More importantly, spend more time w/ family. 

I've started documenting my learnings & "mini-systems" and now share them with others through my content and weekly newsletter The Systematic Sales Leader.

My goal is to help as many sales leaders as possible avoid the same burnout I and so many others experience through tested and proven systems.

SimpsonScarborough is the premier marketing and branding agency in higher education. I joined the agency as the Sales and Marketing division was established. I developed the Business Development Manager position and have scaled our Sales efforts since.

In my first 6 months, I operationalized our first-ever integrated Sales process to manage up to $52M in annual deal flow. To further refine the Sales process across a decentralized, matrixed team of dozens, I constructed a virtual “Sales whiteboard” system to track deal flow accurately in real-time. This saved 6 executives 10+ hours per week – even as we transitioned to fully-remote operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

These change management practices and process improvements eventually allowed for fuller HubSpot CRM implementation and adoption through regular optimization, curriculum development, and training. My long-term investments in our CRM strategy have served to better inform pipeline and revenue reporting, particularly during weekly leadership meetings I established. 

In conjunction with CRM management, I also evaluate, track, and manage hundreds of inbound leads and RFPs weekly and represent SimpsonScarborough on dozens of weekly inquiry calls with prospective clients. 

Critically, I have independently managed procurement deadlines to deliver 200 high-quality proposals per year, even through widespread COVID-19 disruptions, including state and federal budget cuts. These efforts contributed unprecedented agency growth — SimpsonScarborough has more than doubled in my time since 2019.

APIA Scholars is the nation’s leading non-profit organization devoted to the academic, personal, and professional success of Asian & Pacific Islander Americans.

I joined APIAS in February 2018 at a pivotal time; the Executive Director of 10 years was planning to retire in June. I served in three distinct roles in eighteen months.

In my first 5 months, I completed prospecting research on grants and opportunities resulting in five new or reinstated partnerships. I also managed and submitted 15 grant proposals and reports in partnership with the Development team to raise $20M in annual funding.

In June 2018, we inaugurated a new Executive Director and I was elevated to Executive Assistant. I directed an office of 15 staff, managed relations with 48 members of the Board of Directors and Advisory Council, and supported senior leadership in creating the blueprint for special projects and initiatives. This included a new website launch, the 2018 Gala, and the 2019 Higher Education Summit for 600+ participants. 

Transitioning from a direct support role to a mid-level role, I contributed to the APIAS Development team in my role as Development Manager. I directed the submission of 25 grant proposals for funding and tracked donor impact within our donations database across 40 corporate sponsors and hundreds of individual donors. This included managing stewardship benefits on behalf of donors for 3 APIAS events with budgets ranging between $25,000-$300,000. Additionally, I helped construct and implement an organizational Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) campaign and hired and supervised two Development interns.

The Office of Community Engagement connects William & Mary and community to support students’ development as active and educated citizens and to promote positive, community-driven social change. 

I was selected in a competitive application process to take part in a 10-month service year fellowship immediately following my senior year. During this service year, I advised W&M students in an active citizenship development program and coordinated 3 large-scale service opportunities across 10 sites comprised of 100 students each. 

Partnering with the larger OCE team and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee, I planned and executed community discussions, including "The Daily Work of Justice," a three-part conversation series on the U.S. criminal justice system, engaging 300 people in dialogue on prison reform and justice for incarcerated persons.
