I kept hitting the same wall.

Every time I wired an #AI feature into a #React app, the demo worked beautifully. 

Then production happened.

The streaming chat would hang with no way to cancel it. The semantic search returned results that were confidently wrong. The AI validation hammered the API on every keystroke, and the bill made no sense.

So I stopped building demos and started documenting what actually survives production traffic.

The result is three React + AI patterns -- each with full TypeScript, each battle-tested:

Pattern 1: Streaming AI Chat using SSE with useReducer and AbortController. A custom useStreamingChat hook that handles the ugly parts of the tutorials skip.

Pattern 2: Semantic Search with hybrid scoring -- 70% vector, 30% keyword through pgvector. Because pure embeddings alone are not reliable enough for real user queries.

Pattern 3: AI Form Validation at $0.001 per call, integrated with react-hook-form and designed to degrade gracefully.

I also included 5 cost-control patterns and a production checklist (rate limiting, prompt-injection defense, GDPR) that I wish someone had handed me earlier.
