I've spent 25 years making complex medical imaging technology make sense to the people who actually use it.

Radiology. Cardiology. PACS. DICOM. Cloud-based imaging workflows. Enterprise systems that clinicians, IT teams, and support staff depend on daily, and that someone has to explain clearly enough that they can actually do their jobs.

That someone has been me.

Not long ago, I built the customer-facing documentation for a cognitive AI product line from the ground up as part of an allstar cross-functional team: User Guides, Administrator's Guides, Installation Instructions, the full suite. Those products passed their first round of clinical trials. 

That's the work I'm most proud of: taking something radically new and making it usable before anyone else had written a word about it.

I don't just write documentation, I use the product, test the workflows, and catch what's wrong before the user does. That's where good docs come from. Not from interviews alone, but from sitting inside the software until the gaps reveal themselves.

I use AI tools every day. Microsoft Copilot for documentation workflows and Claude for research, structural thinking, and content development. Not as a shortcut, as a force multiplier. I know what AI-generated content looks like, and more importantly, I know how to catch what it gets wrong.

I've simultaneously managed four to six documentation programs across my career and never missed a deadline. I own backlogs, I build templates and style guides that other writers can follow, and I drive documentation to completion without waiting to be told what's next. I work autonomously, I thrive in fully remote distributed teams, and I've collaborated cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, clinical SMEs, implementation, support, and customer success teams across every role I've held.

I'm also a daily writer outside of work, having written posts on LinkedIn for over 800 consecutive days. I also specialize in fiction writing, coaching, and ghostwriting for leaders who need someone to capture how they think and put it on the page. That practice keeps the craft sharp in ways that show up in everything I produce.

If you're shipping AI-powered radiology products and your documentation backlog is growing faster than your team can keep up, that's my specialty. (When I landed my latest gig at Optum, I asked the recruiter how they'd found me. They said "You were a unicorn, a senior technical writer with Imaging experience."

Here's what makes me angry...
 
There's a whole industry built on the anxiety around AI-generated writing, and it's a scam. AI detection tools flag your writing as machine-generated, then conveniently offer a paid "humanizer" to fix it. 

Create the problem. Sell the solution. 

That's not a service. That's a shakedown.

And for neurodivergent writers like me, it's even worse. Em-dashes, structured thinking, precise language — the patterns that come naturally to ADHD brains — are the same patterns these tools flag as "AI tells." 

So we get hit twice: 
once for how our brains work, 
and again when someone tries to charge us to 'fix' it.
 
Neurodivergent designer Elise Gomes sounds the alarm:
 
"Many of these AI detection tools don't just misidentify human writing — they do it intentionally to push a paid service... This is nothing short of a predatory business model, profiting off an artificial problem they themselves create. And for neurodivergent people like me, whose writing is naturally different from neurotypical norms, it becomes an additional tax on simply being ourselves."
 
Did you catch that last line?

Those tools are 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙖𝙭 𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨.
 
I'm not going to apologize for finding a better way to write. And I'm definitely not going to pay someone to make my voice sound more 'human' when the only people who think it doesn't are the ones selling the fix.

I have one test for my writing:
