I’ve seen this closely. 
When I started Inner Circle, nothing was guaranteed.
There was no safety net. Just a belief that mattered more than the noise outside.

Failing was simply a part of the process at the time.

Features that didn’t work.
Markets we entered too early.
Hires that looked right on paper but wrong in real life.

Each one felt heavy at the time.
Like maybe this was the moment it all breaks.

But failure rarely shows up as a big dramatic ending.

Why Battle of the Sexes tennis match fell short of One Point Slam

Million Dollar One Point Slam

I just caught up with Million Dollar One Point Slam at the Australian Open and I genuinely found it gripping and not a gimmick in the slightest.

The tension created for every player and viewer was insane. With the pros limited to just one serve, it truly felt like anyone could win, and for the first time you could realistically believe a top amateur might take it all. Even the very best players in the world clearly found it nerve-wracking which made it compelling viewing.

The human story is what really made it special. Seeing an amateur walk away with just under £500k is absolutely brilliant. I’m not sure the event would have been viewed as quite the same success if someone like Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner had won but that outcome is exactly what gives the tournament its magic. It now stands as proof that anyone can win the Million Dollar One Point Slam.

The atmosphere was incredible, and when you combine this event with the United Cup, Australia is showing a brilliant blueprint for how to showcase men’s and women’s sport together, on equal footing, with genuine drama and heart. 

A bold concept, executed brilliantly and a platform with huge potential for the future.
