Bittersweet
That’s the word that sat with me this weekend as I turned 41.

Because the truth is…
I shouldn’t be here.

Not by most people’s expectations.

At 4, I was told I’d never be able to write - never hold a pen properly.

After my hand was injured in an accident, the doctors told my parents I’d need to rethink my future.

Weignored them.

But what followed in adulthood was worse than the injury:

- Years of failure
- Business ideas that flopped
- Debt I was too ashamed to talk about
- Burnout so deep I couldn’t get out of bed

I’ve been humiliated in rooms where I was the only one who looked like me:

- Told to “tone it down.”
- Told I was “too ambitious.”
- Told I’d never amount to much.

I’ve cried silent tears in empty offices.
I’ve even questioned whether I was cursed.
I’ve broken down on the bathroom floor at 2AM.

And just when I thought I was getting ahead…

I buried three of my children.
Held their tiny bodies in white caskets.

And somehow… still woke up the next morning.

Not strong. 
Just stubborn enough not to give up.

And that’s why this birthday feels different.
Because I’m not here to celebrate myself.

Some people think DPIAs are just checklists;
That mindset is hurting your organisation:

A DPIA isn’t a box-ticking exercise
