✨ Continuing the conversation on women’s health ✨

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at the Asian American Women’s Association (AAWA) event during #JPMHealth2026, titled “The New Rules of Women’s Health.”
I was joined by Jane L., SVP & Head of Commercial Growth at WeightWatchers, who brings deep women’s health experience from her time as Chief Commercial Officer at Midi Health. Together, we explored why women’s health, particularly menopause, has been so widely misunderstood for decades.

🔍 Key takeaways from the discussion:

📉 Much of today’s misinformation around menopause and HRT can be traced back to the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) studies from the 1990s, which shaped clinical practice for years.

🧬 Women were not meaningfully included in clinical trials until the early 1990s, despite fundamental biological differences from men (hard to believe, but true)

🩺 Most primary care physicians and OB-GYNs receive minimal formal training on menopause.

🧠 Symptoms vary widely, reinforcing why women must advocate for themselves, ask questions, and seek answers until they make sense.

🇰🇷 Korea stands out for its accessible, affordable comprehensive health screenings.

🤝 The conversation sparked meaningful resource-sharing among attendees, highlighting the power of community-driven knowledge.

🏛️ What made the evening especially meaningful was the venue:
 Cameron House, a site rich with history and purpose. It is named after Donaldina Cameron and Tien Fuh Wu, two remarkable women who risked their lives to rescue and protect hundreds of young girls trafficked into servitude. Despite immense danger, they provided safety, education, and pathways to financial independence for so many.  

💡 Discussing the future of women’s health in a place that honors such courageous female leadership was deeply moving and a reminder that progress has always been driven by women who refuse to accept the status quo.

There is still so much work ahead but conversations like these are how real change begins.

Happy New Year!  As we start the new year, it was great to join the conversation with fellow beauty investors/leaders on what to expect in the coming year and how to best prepare for it.  A big thank you to Rachel Brown and Beauty Independent for including me in this 2026 Beauty M&A forecast, and to all the contributors who shared thoughtful perspectives on what’s ahead. 

🔭  Looking ahead to 2026:
In 2026, beauty deals are likely to increase but remain sharply focused on the strongest brands - those grounded in real science, loyal repeat customers, and global appeal. The environment should feel directionally similar to 2025: big companies will keep trimming and reshaping their portfolios, rare high-performing brands will command premium prices, and everyone else will face tougher, more conditional deal terms.

🧲  What this means for founders in 2026:
   🪞.  Pick a clear wedge and win it. Anchor around a hero product and build repeat before chasing a wide assortment.
    🧀  Design for contribution profit early. Know your margin by channel and be willing to say no to growth that doesn’t pay back.
    ❌  Diversify demand. Avoid being overexposed to any single platform - whether that’s one retailer, one marketplace, or one paid channel.

The fundamentals haven’t changed. The market just started enforcing them again.
