Back in 2021 I launched 3 seasons of my podcast called 'The Company We Keep Podcast."

I recorded 31 episodes.  Some solo, some with guests and I had an absolute blast.

My oldest daughter, Bella, got diagnosed with a Brain Tumor in February of 2022 and I chose to put the podcast on pause to care for her and my family.

I have considered restarting, but haven't landed on the next steps yet.  

It's pretty amazing that this was 5 years ago.  So much has changed, but also, so much has stayed the same.  My message is the same: Success is a choice.  It's a choice in business and in life and we have the unique opportunity to choose one or the other each day.

Most importantly, Bella is healthy and enjoying her Freshman year of College.

Quick story.

Recently, I was working with an entrepreneur in one of the peer groups I facilitate through TRIBE HQ.

He came to the group wrestling with a challenge that had been draining his time every week. Nothing catastrophic. Just one of those operational issues that slowly eats away at a founder’s schedule.

We worked through it together and landed on a clear recommendation.

The result:  He reclaimed 18–20 hours every week.

That’s roughly 78 hours a month back in the life of a busy entrepreneur. 

Even if you value a founder’s time at just $100 per hour (and it should be much higher), that single shift created about $7,800 in monthly value, or nearly $94,000 a year.

And it didn’t require a new hire.
It didn’t require new software.
It required perspective and accountability.

That’s what happens when you surround yourself with other serious operators who are building real businesses.

Had a great conversation yesterday with AJ Vaynerchuk inside our TRIBE HQ  peer group.

Grateful to Trenton Hughes and the TRIBE. team for consistently bringing in speakers who actually build real businesses and are willing to share what they’ve learned along the way.

A couple insights from AJ that stuck with me:

1. If you want to scale, hire talented people and let them truly own their role. Yes, it may shrink margin in the short term, but strong operators help you grow faster and farther than trying to control everything yourself.

2. The right partners matter. Owning a meaningful piece of something great is far better than owning 100% of something that never reaches its potential.

I’ve followed AJ and Gary for years, and AJ absolutely lived up to the reputation. Down to earth, direct, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about helping entrepreneurs win.

This is one of the things I appreciate most about TRIBE HQ
