General Manager

Columbus Communications Jamaica Ltd. (Flow)

Columbus is the Caribbean’s largest fibre network company providing enterprise grade services and consumer triple play services. I provided strategic, commercial and operational direction for its residential sales and retail organizations. This comprised 150 sales and customer service professionals across 13 retail stores, field sales and outbound telemarketing channels. I had revenue responsibility and budgetary oversight of approximately US$2 million with supporting financial management and operational infrastructure. 

I led the Retail team to win the prestigious International Stevie Awards in 2015, simultaneously increasing sales from 60% contribution in 2012 to 90% contribution by 2014.

I conceptualized the idea of "Value Based Customer Experience". This approach drove sales consistently above targets. Once implemented, my transformation plan led to above target sales increases of up to 120% from 2011 – 2014.

Driven by consumer data and analysis, I championed the team to improve service delivery. The customer feedback we received via focus groups, social media sentiments, contact center reports and appreciative emails validated our efforts.

While redesigning all functional areas of the sales organization I spearheaded ideas for consumer sales and branding campaigns which resulted in over 100% target achievement. I was a key player in product development, forging consumer brand connection at the community level, BTL, and ATL campaign concepts and developed a groundbreaking sales training program. I personally trained the entire sales and retail teams.

Digicel Group

Digicel is one the the Caribbean’s largest telecommunications providers. During my tenure, I designed, operationalized and launched the company’s first Door to Door channel for 4G. It was the only channel to exceed 4G sales. Of note door to door was the primary infrastructure used to pursue the Company's aggressive triple play strategy in 2015.

I also structured and implemented processes and inventory management systems for the fifty-five-person unit. Had budgetary responsibilities and coordinated all operational and sales activities.

Direct Channel Manager

Royal Mail

The Royal Mail Group through its Crown Post Offices (Financial Centres) represented the Bank of Ireland and offered flagship products of Family Investments Ltd and Aviva (formally Norwich Union) to clients who conducted standard transactions in the Post Office. 

The Post Office was not known as a Financial Centre. I was among a group of twelve that were first trained to cross-sell and upgrade to clients who visited the Post Office. This was a transformational  experience because this approach was new to both clients and existing staff. It was very rewarding to be a part of the journey that changed the face of the Post Office in England. 

I obtained extensive training in life financial planning, relationship and conversational selling. I crafted financial service plans for a wide cross section of customers (products included savings bonds and structured investments; credit cards, travel money; life, motor, business and home/content insurance).
During my tenure, the branch was ranked number 1 for Life Insurance sales for the first time. In November 2009, I was identified as YTD top sales person in the branch.

Financial Service Specialist

Flow transformed the broadband space in the region. The company came to Jamaica in 2005 and started selling residential cable, Internet and phone services in 2006. We were on a mission to revolutionise the cable industry and introduce true broadband at an affordable price.

I was hired at a critical stage in 2006 and created the Residential Sales Department which brought in an average of US$500,000 in new revenues per quarter and grew penetration from zero to over 30% in two years.

While bringing a company to life, your responsibilities were not restricted because you had to be and do all that was needed to launch the brand and its products. 

So I played a key role in the development of products, processes, marketing and sales, whilst engaging in forecasting and budgeting up to board level. I was tasked with creating new sales structures, strategies and plans. I hired, trained and conceptualized promotions and marketing activities. The result was rapid market penetration and a driven workforce who was committed to the vision.  

My mind was stretched to think creatively because as with most start ups, budget is not a luxury. I also had to find a way to get consumers to understand what the new 'buzz' was about and how it could change their lives. With limited ABT marketing activities, I added a layer to direct selling and transformed how Jamaicans view D2D selling. I conceptualised the mechanics for the first large scale door-to-door community sales approach in corporate Jamaica. D2D became the primary sales engine initially used to break into the market. 

My extensive training background allowed me to coach and develop a sales force and administrative team of 32. (Field Sales,Telemarketing, Sales Promoters & Account Management teams). 

Today, many corporate companies have incorporated D2D as part of their sales channel

New role created and I was asked to do what I love; Relationship and Account Management. I was ready to contribute at a more senior level. I had been part of the core team who operationalized the new infrastructure for account management in the Company and worked as a Senior Account Executive for several years prior.  

I executed high level and focused commercial account management responsibilities and provided consultative guidance to three regional corporate accounts (UWI, Sandals and Grace Kennedy) with combined annualized revenues of US$9 mil. 
I led and collaborated with matrix teams which included sales engineers and executives as well as technical support to create solutions for customer presence in Barbados, Trinidad, Turks & Caicos, St. Lucia & Antigua. Exceeded sales target by 30% in 2004.

International Account Manager - HOD

Held several roles during the period. I helped to redefine Account Management and worked in the role both at an entry level and middle management. However, the business analyst role helped me to work in the back-end to shape and influence decisions that made a significant impact on results.  

I provided Management Information reports, designed, analysed and tracked sales and revenue performance. This also involved continuous research on companies and verticals, the market and varying industry trends. For the first time the company was able to make informed decisions about the  major account portfolio.

I was the lead in the department who worked with consultants to design and implement a CRM system customised to support Account Management in the company.  I single handedly executed internal surveys and developed communications plan which increased employee awareness about major customers and the way forward. I personally visited the departments of key stakeholders and presented the Major Accounts strategy and direction. Most importantly I was able to get them to buy into the vision. This activity helped to influence the creation of new functional units designed to deliver an improved experience to premier business clients.

My efforts also aided the design of managed PBX services which won major contracts with NCB, BNS and Sandals. These actions influenced the sales strategy which resulted in 25% growth in sales.
