Babe, are you ok? 

I've seen your ads 100 times now and still couldn't tell what the software does.

This company spent $200K on AI tools last year while their CRM had 47,000 duplicate records.

Their marketing automation platform couldn't talk to their data warehouse. 
Three different definitions of "qualified" lived in three different systems. 
Sales didn't trust any data coming from marketing.

But, don't worry, they hired a prompt engineer. 🙄

The same pattern keeps showing up in audits. Companies stack AI tools on top of infrastructure that barely worked before. Clay for enrichment. 6sense for intent. Pocus for intent/more enrichment. Custom GPT implementations. Multiple AI-powered ad platforms.

Their VP of Marketing said something that stuck: "We have all this data, but we're less confident in our targeting than we were two years ago when we had a simple scoring model in HubSpot."

Accounts with 4-7 duplicate entries because different tools were creating records differently. Intent signals weren't syncing with HubSpot. Product usage scores lived in a completely different system than their MQLs. 

When sales asked "why is this account qualified?" marketing couldn't answer because the signals were scattered across too many places.

AI doesn't fix bad data. AI scales bad data.

Your fancy AI tools are only as good as the foundation they're built on. 
Most B2B companies have duplicate accounts, fragmented contact records, inconsistent taxonomies, and disconnected systems. Then they wonder why their AI initiatives feel like expensive chaos.

The companies seeing real results spent the last year doing the work nobody wants to talk about. 

Cleaning their data model. 
Connecting their systems. 
Building operational processes. 
Investing in RevOps capacity. 
Saying no to shiny tools until they fixed their foundation.

The hardest conversation in B2B right now: telling leadership the answer isn't another AI purchase. The answer is a few months of unglamorous data work that nobody wants to fund or celebrate.

But that unsexy infrastructure work pays off. Every 👏 single 👏 time 👏

I almost didn't send the DM to Elena Verna.

Sitting there in 2023, cursor blinking in the message box, thinking "why would she respond to me?"

But I was stuck. Full-time marketing role, great salary, and this nagging feeling that going solo was the move—but zero confidence to actually do it.

So I sent it. Cold DM. Asked for a chance to talk about her career path and going independent.

She said yes.

That conversation gave me three things I couldn't get anywhere else:
- She told me the specific early learnings she made going solo (I copied all of them).
- She validated that my skill set was enough—I didn't need another certification or title first.
- She showed me what was possible. Seeing someone I respected who'd done it made it feel real, not reckless.

Three months later, I went solo. Built DemandLoops.

Looking back, that DM was the highest-ROI 45 seconds I've ever spent on my career.

The pattern I've noticed since: the person you're intimidated to reach out to is often the exact person you need to talk to.

They've been where you are. They remember what it felt like.
Most will say yes if you're genuine about why you're asking.

I still take 2 cold networking calls a month because that Elena conversation showed me how much faster you learn when you just ask someone who's ahead of you.

Last week someone cold DM'd me about going solo. We talked for an hour. I hope it helps them the way Elena helped me.

I built out the early sales program for AudiencePlus. In my role, I promoted our innovative category of Owned Media and collaborated with our head of marketing, JK Sparks, finding creative and scrappy ways to build pipeline and drive market awareness.

I doubled our revenue selling a beta product to major clients, including DroneDeploy, AnnexCloud, and Kustomer.

Revenue Operations
I collaborated with an external consultant to build our foundational Salesforce instance. I prospected and built target account lists, identified key contacts, and developed the first sales cadences. I executed all procurement activities, navigating legal and security assessments to close new customers.

Field Marketing and Events
I organized an exclusive executive dinner for the B2BMX conference in Scottsdale, attracting top marketing leaders. I played a key role in our flagship conference, Goldenhour, managing ticket sales, event promotion, and securing sponsorships. On-site, I managed sales activation and supported all attendees and speakers. I traveled to the Forrester Conference in Austin to meet target accounts and collaborated with EventShark on creative content creation, including guerrilla marketing. I also attended the Gartner Conference in Las Vegas to build relationships and generate pipeline.

Content Creation
I developed and produced a weekly series highlighting content from target companies, which tripled my LinkedIn audience. Hosted a panel for the Planning for Owned Media live event. I was a production assistant for the No Sleep Till Brooklyn music video and documentary and represented the company on podcasts and virtual events.

I worked directly with top advisors in tech and I was pivotal in evangelizing our product and category.

Qualytics

During my 7 months with Qualytics.ai, I began by revamping the company website, focusing on updated messaging and product offerings, all while working within a tight budget. This effort helped to better communicate our value proposition and attract the right audience.

Additionally, I developed and refined ideal customer profiles, buyer personas, and end-user personas, ensuring our marketing and sales efforts were targeted and effective. Reactivating our dormant LinkedIn profile was another key initiative, helping to re-engage our audience and expand our reach.

Revenue Operations
I implemented a CRM, sales engagement, and document management platforms. I created our first outbound sales development playbooks, incorporating multi-channel outreach strategies.

Partnerships
I helped establish partnerships with Snowflake and Databricks through their start-up programs, broadening our network and opportunities for collaboration.

Field Marketing and Events
Attended Databricks Data + AI Summit to learn, network and build relationships. I cohosted two successful executive dinners, attracting influential data leaders and investors. These events facilitated valuable customer testimonials that drove expansions, renewals, and pipeline growth.

I rapidly acquired in-depth knowledge of our technical product. This enabled me to effectively engage with a highly technical market and work alongside some of the most brilliant founders and engineers in the industry to bring the best-in-class ML powered Data Quality software to market.

Founding SDR / General GTM

When I moved into a Senior Manager role I 3x’d the EMEA team to further expand into foreign markets. I promoted reps to leadership and senior IC roles. I led team wide stand ups and contributed to standardizing expectations for the AE department. I was heralded as a subject matter expert for product and competitive intelligence. I led point on cross department rules of engagement and created processes for SDR/AE alignment.

In my role as first ever AE manager at Chili Piper, I interviewed, hired, onboarded, trained, ramped and coached to 5x the AE team. I created all the training and onboarding materials from scratch. I educated new AEs on product functionality and ICP. I promoted 6 SDRs to AEs. I recruited and retained top talent. I organized bi-weekly sales trainings highlighting different sales methodologies and created standardized processes for department growth. I also developed a Free Trial Specialist role to optimize PLG. I forged the path for AEs to be promoted to leadership and I led point on sales enablement and GTM for 3 successful new product launches.

I initiated and executed cold outreach campaigns targeting mid-market and enterprise-sized digital marketing agencies. I executed a daily minimum of 50 cold calls and 50 cold emails with the goal of securing qualified product demonstrations for my AE. I have a photo of me closing a deal on a yacht last week and I genuinely cannot decide if I should post it on LinkedIn.

Because there are two types of LinkedIn content creators:

The ones who fully embrace the cringe-to-polarity pipeline — they hit post and accept that half the comments will be “girl boss” and the other half will be “late-stage capitalism is a disease.”

And the rest of us, who hover safely in the middle with our “light humor” and “general insights” and the occasional “soft vulnerable moment with a business moral at the end.”

I have always been “rest of us.”

But I keep hearing that “real success is on the other side of cringe.”

Which sounds great in theory… right up until you are the person on a yacht proudly updating the deal as closed/won, trying to decide if you’re about to be main-charactered by LinkedIn.

Because once you cross that chasm, you can’t go back. You have entered The LinkedIn Lunatic Arena.

So here I am, thinking deeply about the social psychology of posting a yacht photo, instead of just…posting the yacht photo.

Which is, admittedly, more unhinged than the photo itself.

Anyway, this is a post about not making a post.

and maybe the lesson is: you can’t “play it safe” and also expect to be unforgettable.

or maybe the lesson is: the moment you start narrating your life for content… you’re too far gone already.

“They want that yacht life, under chopper blades…”

Two weeks ago I closed a deal on a yacht.

Now, most people would follow that with a whole play-by-play of how they strategically navigated every step of the deal, every platform they used, every tactic they deployed.

But honestly?
That would be a lie.

Because I didn’t even really close this deal.

A marketer did.
