A little re-introduction, in case you’re new here (or we’ve just never properly said hello).

I’m Katie. I’m a marketing strategist, but not the shouty, hustle-at-all-costs kind.

I help coaches and consultants who are great at what they do, have proper experience under their belt, and still find marketing harder than it feels like it should be. Usually, because they’re trying to squeeze it in around client work, life admin, and everything else.

A few things you might not know about me:

– I love a plan. A calm one. Preferably written down.
– Most of my best ideas arrive on walks (or in the shower, or whilst driving!), usually when I’m not trying to think about work.
– I enjoy marketing strategy far more than marketing noise (and I have very little patience for '£20k a month with just this one secret hack' nonsense.
– I’m always thinking about how to make things simpler, not bigger and moredifficult.
– And I firmly believe marketing should support your business - not feel like another job on top of the one you already have.

Ouch - 7am train in the dark and minus something... 

That's a bump to reality! 

First day back in my clients office today. Looking forward to catching up, but that commute this time of year? 

So grateful for flexible working! As I have the rest of the week solo parenting and supporting our 16 year old through mock GCSE's, so I'll be working from home.

No new years resolutions for me this year…

The first full week of January feels hard, after being cocooned in mince pies, Love Actually and endless cosy evenings in front of the fire.

Who needs to pile on New Year's resolutions on top? I’ll be happy to get my head down and do more of what I did in 2025 quite frankly.

And when it comes to work, I do have a plan of action, because I work better under deadlines.

Are you coming into January with a plan of action?
Or giving yourself a bit of time to ease in?

Either is OK, but if showing up again, finding new clients and generally putting yourself out there is filling you with dread, I’m here to let you know it’s OK.

January’s a tough time, and 2025 was a tough year for many, so it might be hard to know where to focus your energy and time to get the best results.

It’s very normal to feel like that, to feel a little lost with your marketing in the new year, especially when it comes to LinkedIn, which is an unpredictable beast at the best of times.

I’m also here to let you know it’s definitely not you; it’s simply a lack of foundations and systems that allow you to really focus your marketing on the areas that count.

LinkedIn's punishing me for taking a break over Christmas...😫

Post impressions are down, everything's dropped off a cliff....

But I've been here before. 

I saw a lot of people posting all through Christmas, good for them - I can't do it, but I know it makes January all the more painful after a long break. 

Trying to get on top of the January content plan, trying to clear the tinsel out of my head!

1️⃣ They stop asking “What should I post?”

And start getting clear on what they actually want to be known for.

Not just their services, but their point of view, the problems they solve best, and the conversations they want to lead. Once that’s clear, content decisions get much easier,  because everything has a filter.

2️⃣ They make one clear decision and stop constantly revisiting it.

That might be who they’re speaking to, how they position their offer, or the main message they want to reinforce. Instead of tweaking every few weeks or chasing new ideas, they give their marketing time to land and do its job.

3️⃣ They stop waiting to feel ready before showing up.

They don’t suddenly become more confident or inspired; they build a simple, repeatable rhythm that keeps them visible even when client work is full-on. Consistency comes from structure, not mood.

None of this is about clever tactics or posting tricks.

It’s about making a few grounded decisions and committing to them long enough for momentum to build.

I’ve realised I’m the anti-version of most marketing advice....

I’m anti-hustle.
Anti bro-sales.
Anti-overwhelm.
Anti-chasing viral trends that disappear as quickly as they arrive.
And very anti doing things in your business that make you uncomfortable, "because that’s what works”.

I don’t believe marketing should feel like a performance, a personality transplant, or a full-time job on top of the one you already have.

I’m much more interested in:

✔️ marketing that fits around real client delivery
✔️ decisions you don’t have to revisit every week
✔️ systems that still work when energy is low
✔️ and visibility that feels intentional, not performative

Tell me, what are you anti at the moment?

There was a real turning point for me when I realised something uncomfortable: I was spending hours on marketing, but not actually moving anything forward.

My posts were getting attention, but not action. I had bursts of visibility, but no reliable pipeline. And everything felt like it was requiring far more effort than it should have.

That was when I stopped trying to “do more” and started thinking differently about how marketing needed to fit into my life and business. Instead of chasing daily motivation, I focused on building a rhythm I could actually stick to (even on my unmotivated days!) - something steady, repeatable, and realistic alongside client work.

I wanted a way of marketing that didn’t rely on me feeling inspired, that gave me energy rather than drained it, and that kept working even in the weeks when my head was elsewhere. Once I had that system in place, everything started to feel calmer and more intentional.

That’s the same system I now teach inside my programme — and for the first time, I’m sharing it live.

You’re not flaky, lazy, or “bad at marketing”, even if it sometimes feels that way.

What’s usually happening is much more practical than personal. Your marketing is relying on motivation instead of structure. So when client work ramps up, life gets busy, or your headspace disappears, marketing is the first thing to fall away.

Then the pipeline slows.

Urgency kicks in.

And you push hard to get visible again — until the next busy spell.

I see this pattern constantly with smart, experienced coaches and consultants. Not because they don’t care about their marketing, but because they’re trying to run it on spare energy rather than a system that actually supports them.

It often shows up as reactive bursts of visibility, effort without a clear direction, and a heavy reliance on referrals - even when you know that isn’t sustainable in the long-term.

The issue isn’t that you need to post more.

Without a clear structure underneath, every post feels high-stakes.

That came up in the questions after 'From Reactive to Reliable' (the live masterclass I ran on Friday).

Things like:

“Why do my clients never seem to engage on LinkedIn?”
“Should I even be doing sales posts when they get so little traction?”
“Would having a structure help me stop worrying so much about how my content is received, because there’s a bigger plan behind it?”

What struck me wasn’t a lack of experience or confidence.

It was how much pressure people were putting on individual posts to work.

When there’s no bigger plan, it’s easy to read too much into engagement (or the lack of it), second-guess yourself, and quietly lose confidence - even when you’re good at what you do.

Once we talked about structure, having some priorities, a rhythm, and a way of deciding what actually matters, the anxiety dropped immediately.

We didn't fix the problem, as that takes time and effort, but we named the problem, and I shared the solution.

Something you might not know about me...


Even though I’ve spent years working in marketing, marketing my own business didn’t come naturally at all.

Helping clients is one thing. You’re close enough to see what matters, what to prioritise, what to ignore. But not too close to lose perspective.

Doing it for yourself is different. You’re in it. Emotionally attached. Overthinking every decision.

𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺.

I built it by needing things to make sense.

I’m naturally someone who wants clarity before action, a plan before pressure, and systems that support me when life gets busy.

For a long time, I assumed that meant I lacked confidence. Or drive. Or whatever trait people like to credit success to.

What I eventually realised was simpler than that:

I just didn’t want a model that relied on constant output, hype, or being ‘on’ all the time.

Once I stopped trying to force myself into that way of working, everything changed.

That’s why the work I do now always starts with structure.

Not because structure is rigid, but because it’s what creates freedom.

When you have a plan and structure in place, decisions can feel lighter, executing feels do-able and marketing becomes something you actually start to enjoy.

Marketing Momentum exists because I couldn’t find a space that did this properly for experienced coaches and consultants - so I built the thing I needed myself.

One of the hardest parts of relying on referrals is that marketing never really feels urgent… until suddenly it is.

I’ve been there myself. You’re busy delivering for clients, which is non-negotiable. The work is good, you’re in demand, and marketing quietly slips into the background because everything feels fine.

Then a client contract comes to an end. Or a project wraps up. And all at once you realise how exposed you are.

You haven’t been talking about the work you’re doing. You’ve dropped off the radar a bit. And there’s no easy, reliable system for replacing that client without going into panic mode. You start wondering how many opportunities you might have missed along the way.

So you react. A short burst on LinkedIn. A half-formed plan. A promise to yourself to “come back to this properly”. But, of course, you don't.

Nothing is broken enough to force a real decision. And nothing feels settled enough to relax either.

What people don’t talk about enough is the mental load this creates. Marketing sits permanently in the background of your mind. You’re always half-thinking about it, half-worrying about it, but never quite trusting it to do its job. And that in-between state can be exhausting.

I’m living some of the wildest days of my life.

Last Wednesday, I booked a flight for one reason only:

To meet some of my best LinkedIn connections in real life.

No agenda.
No “business trip.”

Just people who started as profile pictures…
and somehow became real friends.

The last 5 days felt unreal.

We went shopping just to buy slippers.

Played dodging cars so aggressively that strangers thought we’d lost our minds.

Drove up the hills to see a top view of Islamabad.

Stood inside Faisal Mosque, silent, massive, humbling.

Took a horse ride for the first time and
honestly, I absolutely loved it.

Traveled 23km just to drink our favorite mint margarita because logic was optional that day.

Snuck into a mall by joining a random family
because it was “family-only day” and rules felt negotiable.

One of us (Awais) took a cold shower in 5°C water like a psychopath.

Spent 45k in a single day and didn’t even remember where it went.

But it wasn’t all perfect.

We got scammed by a taxi driver, lesson learned.

The water was so cold our hands went numb after washing.

Junk food caught up with us. Health took a hit.

And still…

I’d do it all over again.

Because these weren’t just “fun days.”

They were life days.

The kind that remind you:

Connection beats comfort.

Memories beat money.

And some decisions only make sense after you make them.

I’m writing this while waiting for my first-ever flight.

Solo.

No partner.
No “let me wait for someone.”

And here’s what’s surprising me the most:

I’m calm.
I’m confident.
I feel stupidly grateful.

And yeah, I’m excited in a way that feels unfamiliar.

No fear.
No panic.
Just curiosity.

(Also… I might actually say hi to the pilot. Let’s see 😄)

What’s hitting me right now is this feeling of earned independence.

Like, I chose this.

And that changes everything.

So here’s my message to anyone stuck in hesitation mode:

If you’re delaying travel because
you’re “waiting for the right person”
or scared of doing it alone,
listen carefully.

When things get hard, most people won’t be there anyway.

A few will.

The rest disappear.

So why keep postponing your life?

Yes, solo travel feels scary at first.
That fear is real.

But here’s my challenge to you:
book the flight anyway.

You don’t outgrow fear by waiting.
You outgrow it by moving.

You’ll thank yourself for it.

Not me.

 P.S. What do you remember most from your first flight?

One thing I failed at in 2025 and I’m owning it.

I promised myself I’d create more videos.

I didn’t.

At the start of 2025, I set a non-negotiable rule:

No matter what, I’ll show up on video.

Reality had other plans.

The first two quarters went wild.

Fully booked.
Dream clients.
Some of my favorite landing pages I’ve ever built.

And quietly… my videos disappeared.

Not because I didn’t care.
Not because I wasn’t serious.

Because I made a dangerous mistake:

I relied on motivation instead of a system.

I recorded “when I felt like it.”
And every time I felt like it… I didn’t have time.

That’s on me.

No structure = broken promises to yourself.

But that changes now.

My trip ends on Jan 16.

From the very next day, I’m running this system, no drama, no excuses:

→ Collect viral ideas in batches
→ Write 2–3 scripts every week
→ Record at least 2 videos per week (more if possible)
→ Send everything to Podcutz for editing, no bottlenecks

2025 taught me the lesson.
2026 is where I apply it.

If you dropped the ball last year too, this is your sign:

Fix the system, not your motivation.

After building over 28 websites and landing pages last year, this is the most valuable lesson I’ve learned.

You think you’re competing with competitors.

You’re not.

That’s a comforting lie.

You’re competing with something that’s shrinking every single day:

Your audience’s attention span.

Yes, everyone knows this.

Almost no one designs like they believe it.

How do I know?

Because I audit landing pages daily and still see:

→ Long, bloated headlines that say nothing
→ Generic copy that could belong to anyone
→ Stock images pretending to be trust

And then founders say:

“Why aren’t we getting leads?”

Because your page is bleeding attention before it earns trust.

So how do you actually compete for attention?

It’s simpler and harsher than you think.

Imagine someone walks up to you and says:

“Hey, I know you’re stuck with [exact painful problem].

I’ve already solved it.

Here’s how.”

You don’t scroll.
You don’t hesitate.
You listen.

Why?

Because your pain was named.
And a solution was promised, fast.

That’s the rule.

If your landing page doesn’t:

→ Call out the pain instantly
→ Remove confusion immediately
→ Signal relief within seconds

You’ve already lost.

Not to competitors.

To silence.

And silence never converts.

Secret!!!

Today was the last day with them.

And before life speeds up again… 
I want to lock in what the last 10 days taught me.

First, I’m genuinely grateful I got to start the year like this.

Not with pressure. Not with noise.

But with laughter, movement, and real conversations.

Here’s what stayed with me:

→ Your environment edits your thinking, whether you like it or not.

Being around the right people doesn’t just motivate you.

It silently raises your standards.

You start thinking bigger without forcing it.

→ Travel isn’t a break for founders, it’s a reset.

This was my first real trip, and I already know one thing:

mental clarity doesn’t come from grinding harder.

It comes from stepping away long enough to hear yourself think.

→ Money matters, pretending otherwise is naive.

Yes, money can buy happiness.
Or at least the space to create it.

Experiences, freedom, options, none of that is free.

→ Energy is more valuable than time.

You can have free hours and still feel dead inside.

The right people + new places recharge you faster than any productivity hack.

→ The internet gives you reach. Real life gives you depth.

Online connections are powerful.

But meeting people in real life turns “network” into bond.

→ Comfort kills stories. Discomfort creates them.

Every memorable moment from this trip came from saying yes
when comfort said no.

This trip ends here.

But the version of me it created doesn’t.

Already planning the next one in April or May.

Different places. Same intention.

P.S. When was the last time you stepped out of your routine long enough to reset?

Every founder I meet has the same landing page problems… and they never realize these are the reasons their pages don’t convert.

I only have 60 seconds to fix them for you, so pay attention

Founders forget one truth: 

People buy when risk feels low. 

If your landing page doesn’t show a guarantee, safety net, or trust marker, conversions will flatline.

➡️ Problem #2

You copied your competitor’s landing page. 

Which is genius… unless they’re also broke.

Instead, use competitor research for inspiration, not duplication. 

Build your page around your customer’s psychology, not someone else’s mistakes.

➡️ Problem 3

You wrote ‘We are the leading provider of…’ 

Congrats. 

You sound exactly like the other 300,000 ‘leading providers.’

Replace that fluff with a crystal-clear promise: 

What you do, for who, and the outcome they’ll get.

➡️ Problem 4

You built your landing page like a 
homepage, trying to say everything. 

But a landing page only has one job: 

Drive one action. The rest is a distraction.

Strip it down to one CTA, one offer, one outcome. 

That’s how you get focus and conversions.

Fix these 4 things, and your landing page will convert way more visitors into clients.

My father started his business at 19.

I started mine at 21.

Just a two-year gap.

Sounds similar, right?

Completely different worlds.

When my father started, there was no backup plan.

That business was survival.

No social media.
No marketing playbooks.
No “content strategy.”

Clients came from one place only:

Word of mouth

So he built everything on two things:

Honesty and quality work.

Slowly, that reputation turned into trust.

Trust turned into big clients.

Big clients turned into millions in sales.

And because of that, he gave us a life most people only aim for.

Now compare that to my start.

When I began my web design business, failure wouldn’t have ended me.

I could’ve joined his business anytime.

But I never let myself think that way.

I treated my business like I had no safety net.

12-hour days.
No weekends.
Missed family gatherings.
Zero shortcuts.

Not because I had to but because I wanted something of my own.

Three years later, I can say this without hesitation:

It was worth it.

But here’s the real reason I’m telling this story.

We all look for role models in podcasts, books, and Twitter threads.

Sometimes, the best one is standing right in front of us.

For me, that’s my father.

Whatever business sense I have, it started with him.

Whatever confidence I’m building, it’s because I watched him build first.

That hunger to do more, to go further, I didn’t invent it.

I inherited it.

Different paths.
Same foundation.

And I’m proud of that.

Solo (just for a short time though.)

A little nervous.
More excited.

And fully responsible for whatever happens next.

This is my first time traveling alone to another city.

And yeah, that fear is real.

But so is the pull to do things that stretch you.

The crazy part?

When I land, I won’t be alone.

I’ll be meeting some of my best LinkedIn connections I made two years ago when I had almost nothing but consistency and a LinkedIn account.

Different cities.
Different lives.

And now, finally, real life.

On top of that, I made a promise to myself on Jan 1:

30 days of posting. No excuses.

I’m on Day 5.

And I’m continuing this challenge while traveling.

I don’t know how clean the posts will be.
I don’t know where I’ll write them.
I don’t know if I’ll be tired, distracted, or overwhelmed.

But I do know this:

Momentum doesn’t care about comfort.

One thing I’m deeply grateful for,
every expense on this trip is on me.

Flights.
Food.
Shopping.
Everything.

Not because it’s flashy.
But because it’s proof.

I built something that moves with me.
