Today, I lead marketing at Sequel.io, the webinar solution for data-driven marketers. Sequel lets marketers host webinars and virtual experiences directly on their own domain, giving them full control of their brand and customer experience — and complete ownership of their data. That’s more than a technical detail. It’s a paradigm shift. Because when marketers own their event data — every question answered, poll response submitted, moment of engagement captured — they can orchestrate richer, more contextual journeys. That means stronger pipelines, shorter sales cycles, and better retention. In other words, better unit economics.

I’m known for building high-performing teams, fostering thriving communities (like Pavilion’s 10,000+ GTM leaders and IMPACT’s 5,000+ marketers), and launching content engines that turn brands into media powerhouses. Following a year in which I served the Marketing and Member Success teams at Pavilion, I'm fortunate to now serve the Marketing and Growth teams, whose focus is on growing topline revenue. The departments within this team include marketing (brand, content, product marketing, demand gen, partnerships, events, and community) and sales (both B2B and B2C).

In a world where more buyer journeys start inside chat, answer engines, and communities instead of search, website content now has 2 very different jobs.

1) The first job happens **OFF** your website. You still need very clear, very specific product and educational content (what the product does, who it’s for, how it works, what problems it solves). That content matters more than ever because it’s what trains LLMs and answer engines. If you’re vague or generic, you simply won’t show up when buyers are going deep in those chat based rabbit holes. That content might live on your site, but it's consumed off of it.

2) The second job happens **ON** your website, and this is where I think the future really shifts. Websites are becoming platforms for engagement, not education. If buyers are already informed before they arrive, the question isn’t “can we teach them?” It’s “can we give them a reason to show up and interact?”

On-site engagement includes things like:

✅ Interactive webinars that happen on your site
✅ Self-guided product demos
✅ Calculators, quizzes, and assessments
✅ Content that adapts, ideally in real time, based on what someone actually does

When a buyer comes to your site already educated about your product, these ^^ are the things that start to matter more than another long article.

I believe websites are about to get much smarter. 

They’ll learn from how someone moves through them and adjust in real time to meet that person where they are in their journey. 

And the content that really brings people back won’t be static pages, it’ll be experiences.

That’s the shift I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about, and building toward at Sequel.io. And that's what joey alvandi and I had so much fun talking about recently.
