You've probably heard of Bryan Johnson.

If you haven't, you're living under a rock. He's everywhere: podcasts, articles, social feeds. Documenting his quest to reverse aging in painstaking detail.

But why am I talking about him in MY about section?

Well, the thing is, Bryan isn't necessarily the most credentialed person in longevity or in healthcare.

There are researchers with decades of peer-reviewed work. Practitioners with thousands of patient outcomes. Founders building companies around health and wellness that actually scale.

But most of them?

That's the gap.

It's not about who knows more. It's about who gets seen.

This has played out across healthcare and wellness for years.

Founders with genuine expertise, people who've built real businesses, developed frameworks that work, earned credibility the hard way, posting into the void. (If you're one of them, you're in the right place.)

Ten likes. Maybe fifteen if a friend comments.

Meanwhile, someone who took a course last month and knows how to write a hook - they're everywhere.

The frustrating part isn't that bad information wins.

When COVID hit, remote work became the "future." Companies went all-in. We said we'd never go back. Now it's 2026, and I'm not so sure anymore.

These days, I'm working from cafes and co-working spaces more than my home desk. Not because of bad Wi-Fi or an uncomfortable chair (I spent significantly on my home work setup), but because I realized something important: we are social beings.

You don't get new ideas sitting in the same four walls every day.

The best insights come from overhearing conversations, random encounters, the energy of being around other humans doing their thing.

"But you connect with people online," you might say.

Sure. But how deep are those relationships really?

They stay surface-level until you meet face-to-face. There's something irreplaceable about in-person connection that Slack messages just can't replicate.

What I think about remote work is that it is brilliant as a Plan B. For emergencies. For days when life demands flexibility. When you have responsibilities that need your attention.

But we oversold it as the default.

The pandemic said you could work from anywhere. What we're learning now is that just because we can, doesn't mean we always should.

We're not meant to be isolated nodes on a network. We're meant to collide, collaborate, and create.

Together.

Read somewhere that “spreadsheets are the new pen and paper” and couldn’t agree more.

We’re progressing backwards in certain areas and it might be a good thing.

You really don’t need 100 apps to run your life smh.

Here's what no one ACTUALLY tells you, not even your ghostwriter, if you're chasing virality:

You need to build resilience for dealing with people who fundamentally misunderstand what you're saying.

When something goes viral, it breaks out of your usual audience bubble. Suddenly, you're reaching people who:

- Don't have the context of your previous work
- Didn't read past the headline or first sentence
- Are actively looking for something to be offended by
- Want to argue for the sake of arguing
- Project their own frustrations onto your message

The algorithm doesn't care about nuance. It cares about engagement. And negativity drives engagement.

Hence, before you hit "post" on that potentially viral piece, be mentally prepared to handle hundreds of comments from people who completely missed the point.

Going viral INCLUDES managing the downside of becoming a lightning rod for people's unrelated frustrations.

If you can't handle that heat, there's no shame in staying focused on building a smaller, more engaged audience that actually gets what you're about.

Hot take (that shouldn’t be hot):

Copy-pasting quotes from the internet and calling it “curation” doesn’t make you a thought leader.

Having an opinion does.
Sharing context does.
Adding lived experience does.

If your post could’ve been written by anyone, it probably didn’t need to be posted by you.

Thought leadership requires thought, just saying.

What did you see in me (or my profile) when you decided to send in a connection request or follow me (or accept my request)?

Genuinely curious.

References or the ask for emulating a certain creator defies the purpose of creativity.

We often see the ask in job posts to design a certain way, to write a certain way, to write like Naval Ravikant or post business threads as if you're copying someone's playbook.

But what gets lost is the fact that creativity is not about reproduction.

When you're told to "write like X" or "design in the style of Y," you're being asked to cosplay as someone else.

You're cutting off the very thing that makes your work valuable, your unique perspective, your specific combination of experiences, the way you connect dots that nobody else can.

The creators we admire didn't get there by being the second-best version of someone else. They got there by being the first version of themselves.

So what do we do with references and inspiration?

We metabolize them. We study widely, absorb deeply, then forget deliberately. We let influences pass through us and emerge transformed by our own lens.

The best brief isn't "write like Naval." It's "write something Naval would want to read but could never write himself."

Because that's when you're actually creating.

As we step into 2026, I hope you create something that is truly yours.
