That fancy job title & big paycheck may be coming at the cost of what really matters.

I've heard too many stories of friends or mentors who accepted their "dream job" only to realize it was a career nightmare in disguise.

Protect your peace & remember to check for these whenever you're job hunting:

↳ Energy and excitement (instead of dread and anxiety) for what you and the company are doing

↳ Managers and leaders who actually care about you and invest in your wellbeing and success on the team (instead of performative metrics)

↳ Trust and flexibility to set your own work-life boundaries without feeling guilty for "not being online or productive"

Engineering Intern

If you were to do a Google search on the common stereotypes of engineers,  this is what you might perhaps find. "Geeks, Introverts, Not creative, Boring etc" .  Although I studied engineering, I happen to be the exact opposite of this stereotype (I might be a math geek though).

I used to work as a CAD design engineer in a refrigeration MNC for close to 3 years while concurrently hustling for my degree in the evenings. However,  after much introspection, I decided to make the switch to sales for I wanted to leverage on my communication and people skills instead. 

 I have worked as a sales executive for a Point of Sale (POS) company for 7 years where I was responsible for promoting their maintenance and SaaS solutions to clients in the F&B and retail sector. As a sales executive, I have successfully brought in new revenue and ensured customer retention with major accounts like Shake Shack, Wingstop, Sushi Express and the list goes on. 

In contrast, due to my education in engineering, I have an analytical mindset and am comfortable with handling data and complex calculations.  I am excited to take on a role that allows me to effectively amalgamate my analytical knowledge with my strong communication speaking skills.
