- The staff and operations workstream of a union merger including pre-merger negotiation meetings, holding job content clarification meetings with staff, mapping of staff to single grading structure, working with the team on harmonising terms and conditions and providing new contracts of employment and role profiles accordingly.
- Closure of union offices including staff 1:1s to clarify any possible adjustments required, discussion on role changes, travel changes/allowances, and ensuring business continuity. 
- Initiating the use of apprenticeships throughout the business following the creation of the government apprenticeship levy
- Employee engagement including liaison with teams and creating an action plan with the management team
- Recruitment and selection including shortlisting, conducting interviews and providing contracts of employment
- Launching a new staff induction programme
- The creation of staff values including liaison with staff at team meetings and the management team to define our values and incorporate staff recognition

- Oversee the organisation and administration of the General Secretary’s office including National Executive Committee and its Sub-Committees, Presidential Team, Trustees and Pension Trustees, Running appropriate statutory elections, and supervision of the administration team
- Attend and act as the driving force for actions arising from Senior Management Team meetings including organisational development and dealing with confidential staffing matters.
- Ensure compliance with the union’s rules and statutory requirements
- Deal with trade union members issues and keep up to date with employment law
- Support the General Secretary in the administration of his work. This includes composing committee papers/agendas/minutes/actions; diary management; responding to correspondence, emails and telephone calls; drafting the annual report; preparing presentations and liaising with staff.
