In 20 years as a UX/UI designer I've shipped hundreds of apps, websites, and features for big tech companies like Amazon and Motorola all the way down to tiny startups being run from a garage. 

5 years into my career I co-published an article about Agile UX work a colleague and I were doing at a broadcast retail company.

That led to several speaking engagements, and 1.5 years later I was in Seattle presenting the design for Kindle for iPhone 1.0 to Jeff Bezos.

I worked at Amazon for 6 years where I:

→ Designed and shipped dozens of Kindle reading apps used by millions
→ Got promoted 3 times
→ Managed and lead teams
→ Worked on highly visible "special projects"
→ Presented to Jeff Bezos and other execs more times than I can remember
 
And then I got burned out. 

So to recover I co-founded a tech startup. This is not a joke. This is also probably not advice I would give to anyone. 

The startup fizzled out quickly but it was my first exposure to entrepreneurship and I was hooked.

I didn't know what to do, I just knew I wanted to continue being out on my own.

With the help of others I started contracting. Over time that grew into a 7 figure design firm called Stepladder.

Vsoft

For 23 years Vsoft is an IDtech company specialized in people identification and process certification. Developing web and mobile products with biometric technology for Brazilian state governments, police departments, traffic departments, driving schools and white labels.

Day to day I collaborate closely with the product team, ensuring a user-centric approach. This involves thoroughly understanding customer needs and stakeholder requirements, analyzing the product's context, and assessing technical feasibility in consultation with developers. After seeking references from best design trends, I design visually appealing user interfaces and prototypes in Figma, seek feedback from fellow designers, maintaining communication with product owners. Prior to production, I present design deliverables explaining all design decisions.

Currently, I started the user research process in the company when before the contact was made only by the support team. I raise questions from stakeholders through workshops, carry out interviews, Focus Groups and Shadow Sessions with both internal teams and users to clarify problems, collect data and discover points for improvement.

⇢ Modernized UI of a complex system creating a responsive UI kit with color scheme, typography, iconography and interface elements in dark theme, aestheticaly conveying more confidence and clarity.

⇢ I drastically reduced the rate of user errors in the biometric validation process, increasing user engagement with clearer and more objective instructions by creating tutorials and animations (motion graphics) in Lottie format in After Effects.

⇢ I designed the interface for the theoretical exam taken by citizens to obtain a driver's license, considering a broad audience, addressing aspects of learnability, accessibility and usability.

⇢ Conducted training sessions on Usability to front-end developers, enriching their
ability to craft user-friendly interfaces and elevating company's design maturity.

Worked as Product Designer for BlockerGirl, a medical education startup specializing in anesthetic nerve blocks, contributing to the user experience of digital products and courses and crafting an innovative educational mobile app that faithfully simulates real anesthetic procedures.

⇢ Collaboration on the innovative mobile app that seamlessly integrates video content, explanatory materials, and interactive elements. This educational tool provides an immersive learning experience for our users.

⇢ Worked closely with doctor/CEO and partner/engineer in understanding core problems and gathering essential requirements. This, in turn, defined the app's features and functionality.

⇢ Leveraging my design expertise and proficiency in Figma, I meticulously crafted user interfaces, including onboarding and pricing screens. These designs were developed while respecting chosen iOS framework libraries limitations, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
