Back in 2020, I thought I was doing everything right...

I had a finance degree from a top 20 business school, married, had a house, worked at a bank, and was investing in a 401K.

Working at the bank, I analyzed commercial multifamily deals. 

I saw everything -
• The borrower's tax returns where they paid $0 in taxes. 
• Huge net worth on their balance sheets. 
• The passive income they were collecting every month from the cash flow. 

I saw just how lucrative (and rewarding) apartment investing could be.

I quickly learned I was on the WRONG side of the deal.

6 Months ago we marked a moment my son will never forget.

Alongside three other dads and their sons, we celebrated the transition from boyhood to manhood.

Inspired by The Intentional Father by Jon Tyson,
we built a full day of adventure, challenge, and blessing.

→ Sunrise bike ride
→ Hearty breakfast with the dads
→ Time at the gun range
→ All-out paintball battle
→ Knighting ceremony at an overlook in St. Paul
→ And a feast at Fogo de Chão to finish the day

Each dad stood before his son, sword in hand,
and publicly declared,

“You are now entering a new season and chapter, may you trust in the Lord 
With all of your heart, all of your strength and all of your soul”

Now is the time for more young men and women to rise up
→ the journey is just beginning
→ the real work of shaping, praying for and guiding
→ the input from peers, and wise grandparents

But we need more:

More intentionality.
More fathers speaking life.
More moments that mark the shift from child to adult.

Let’s raise sons who know who they are
and daughters who know what kind of man to look for.

This book was a catalyst but the vision was inside.
I want Isaac to know
→ who he is and whose he is
→ who he is becoming
→ and take steps of courage to continue to learn

It doesn’t happen overnight. (This is a season)
I’m not expecting perfection (more will be learned through failure)
I’m going to fail (but we have one to look to who is perfect)

I get that
Fear shows up every time you stand at the edge of a new season

Before my first investment
I felt the same hesitation

But here is what I learned

→ God forms us through steps of obedience

Because here is the deeper truth

It is not about the money
It is about the impact you can create
With the resources God entrusts to you

When you grow resources

You grow influence

This is about becoming who God designed you to be

Most people think the cost is small.
But the math tells the truth.

If you invested fifty thousand dollars today and it doubled every five years, here is what happens.
Over thirty years, that money doubles six times.

But if you wait just one year

The mistake most people make?

→→ They spend all their time chatting outside the house.

Great content isn’t the goal.
It’s the gateway.

→ The goal is not just engagement—it’s deeper connections.
→ The goal is not just reach—it’s real relationships.

So here’s my question:
→Are you staying outside, or are you bringing people in?

Drop “outside” if you’re still working on it.
Drop “in” if you’ve got a system to move conversations deeper.
Drop “help” if you need a system and community to help you move from the outside in.
