Take less per account, make more overall. Counterintuitive, but the math holds.

When we ran a four-year-old back book through our AI agent, it didn’t “spike” at first. But it ramped methodically, and, by month-4, the cumulative liquidation curve beat two incumbent agencies on the same placements.

Why? Incentives and constraints.

Human teams sprint the top accounts early. Then staffing (e.g., labor cost, morale, quota incentives, etc.) slow the long tail. The AI doesn’t tire, doesn’t reshuffle priorities, and doesn’t depend on floor energy. It just keeps executing.

Here’s the hidden insight: accepting a slightly lower per-account recovery can increase total liquidation.

If you’re willing to settle at, say, 40% consistently, you may take less per consumer, but you collect from more consumers, and the aggregate goes up. 

Humans resist this because of FTE costs and quota realities. AI doesn’t carry that overhead...

The net result is a win-win-win.  The agency wins more business, the lender recovers more debt, and the consumer has a better negotiated outcome.

AI agents in regulated environments change the unit of control from people to policy.

Most firms have solid UDAAP policies. But things break at the edge... stressed reps, misaligned incentives, and more. That’s why “more training” hits diminishing returns.

We think of AI agents as "compliance-as-code." Our team spent 2000 man-months mapping regulatory requirements so that these rules are machine-executable (consent, mini-Miranda equivalents, prohibited phrases, hardship paths).

That enables "constrained generation." E.g., a known (approved, configurable) set of responses, not freeform LLMs that are prone to hallucinations. 

Then we layer on real-time guardrails. Interruptible turns, refusal modes, and safe escalation to a human when policy confidence drops.

But we don't stop there. Our defense-in-depth approach captures evidence trails. Structured logs (who/what/why) + audio/text transcripts tied to each decision. 

Result: consistent adherence to policy while maintaining a dynamic, empathetic consumer experience.

Most “AI rollouts” are theater. Please^3 create a solid plan to QA and test UDAAP edge cases. Here's how.

You don’t need moonshots to de-risk AI for UDAAP (the laws prohibit unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices by collectors). You need clear pass/fail gates for your AI plan. 

Follow this framework:

+ Days 0–30 (Map & Contain)

1. Select 1–2 use cases (e.g., right-party verification, hardship routing).

2. Convert policies to policy-as-code; define prohibited intents & mandatory disclosures.

3. Spin up sandbox datasets + red-team prompts to try to break the agent.

+ Days 31–60 (Run & Measure)

1. A/B vs. top-quartile human reps on: accuracy of disclosures, adherence to call script, complaint rate, first-contact resolution, average handle time.

2. Live-time guardrails: confidence thresholds force a handoff to humans.

3. Daily QA via structured logs + transcripts; sample failures, fix policy or responses, re-deploy.

+ Days 61–90 (Decide & Expand)

1. Go/No-Go by hard criteria: zero critical UDAAP defects, SLA hit rate, complaint delta ≤ target

2. If Go: expand to adjacent intents and add automated QC for self-audit.

For me, the jiu jitsu mat acts as a mirror. The person you are in real life is who you are on the mat, and those things can influence each other.

If you have a weak mind outside the gym, it will show in your training. 

Conversely if you strengthen your mind and body through training, it will strengthen your mind in life.

I don't know if theres a lesson in this, but I sent a LOT of DMs yesterday. Decided to look at all my first degree connections who I thought might be a good fit for Outboundless, idk how many I sent but it was a lot. And I'm sending a contract out this morning. Keep grinding.

Dear Founders:

You didn’t bring in sales/SDRs/leadership because you know how to build pipeline. You hired them because they do.

So why block the person you hired to fix the problem?

Here’s how great sales and SDR leaders get burned out and walk:

You second-guess every strategy call they make.
You cut budgets, then ask why meetings dropped.
You treat them like a task manager instead of a builder.
You hold them to targets, but take away the authority needed to hit them.

Then you act shocked when the whole thing falls apart and they walk.

The truth is simple.

When you ignore the person who owns your top of funnel, you’re not just losing a hire. You’re choking the most important part of your sales engine.

Pipeline isn’t optional. A real sales development leader is the difference between learning fast and dying slow.

If you won’t let them run the motion, fix the system, put the pieces in place -- you’re handcuffing them.

Step back. Let them build. Or get ready for another quarter of “we’re figuring it out.”

So much of what I see here is geared toward clickbait and engagement farming rather than actual utility. Polarizing strong takes that speak in absolutes.

It doesn’t serve the audience as much as it serves the poster. If you’re reading things on the feed, you’re in their funnel. Myself included - this is how things work.

But I think it’s really important to be aware of this as a rep. You are not reading a textbook. You are reading marketing copy of someone who is trying to sell something. 

I try to be as blunt and realistic as possible when I write on here. It doesn’t get as much attention but I don’t care. I’ll sleep better at night knowing I am being honest.

Do I want to sell cold calling services to you? Probably not, actually. I’m looking for specifically early stage founders who want a jumpstart on outbound. They’re probably not shopping for it on the feed.

I’m not selling a course, there’s no cohorts, there’s no waiting list. So you can see how the content is tuned differently. 

What I do want is when someone goes to do their research before they sign a contract with me, they find someone who is very honest and transparent. Back channel same. 

Cold calling is dead, cold email is dead, it’s all dead but somehow we still book meetings every week. 

I could detail the process and people still wouldn’t do it. The thing is, people WANT cold calling to be dead. Because it sucks to do. That’s why we do it for you.
