Be Broadcast is a specialist broadcast PR consultancy. This means we'll get you on TV and Radio. 

To get there, we’ll get under the skin of your brand and build a campaign which fits both key messaging and the key factors broadcasters will need.

Put simply this means the person you deal with will be the person who also deals with media. All too often in this sector, things are lost in translation as they are handed over.

The consultancy is led by Josh Wheeler who has 10 years of experience in broadcast PR (with a further five in traditional PR). His award-winning work spans some of the leading broadcast consultancies in the UK – he is now aiming to reshape the way we look at broadcast PR.

Socially Mobile is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that supports and inspires public relations practitioners across the UK to increase their earning potential.

Through support and funding, Socially Mobile delivers training to those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, as well as under-represented and under-served groups including ethnic minority practitioners, the LGBTQ+ community, women returners and those with disabilities.

I founded #FuturePRoof, a crowdsourced book and community, with the bold ambition of promoting the strategic value of public relations, while enabling social mobility by sharing thought leadership and best practice with the wider industry. 

The community kickstarted the biggest conversation ever about the future of public relations. The aim remains to underline PR's role as a management discipline driving organisational success so that practitioners upskill and businesses invest more in the PR function. 

There are now six books in the #FuturePRoof series (five crowdsourced from practitioners, academics and teachers across the world) and these feature on university reading lists across the UK. 

#FuturePRoof training workshops have been delivered to organisations including Disney, SAP, Weber Shandwick and Macmillan Cancer Support.

At Astute.Work I ran a pioneering hybrid agency bringing together management consultancy with strategic PR and marketing capability to help organisations formalise their purpose, engage with stakeholders and build their social capital.

CIPR – Chartered Institute of Public Relations

As President, I committed to reasserting PR's value as a strategic management function and the value it brings to business. 

During my tenure, the Institute experienced its best year to date with an income rising to £4.3m and profit of almost £200,000 - its largest surplus since 2013. Throughout the year we established strategic alliances with the CBI and FSB to improve understanding of public relations among business and introduced an ‘I am Chartered’ campaign to encourage more members to develop professionally and increase their career and earnings potential.

I held the role of Vice-President of the CIPR in 2019 and continued to work to further the Institute's aims.

The Chronicle Sunshine Fund

During my time as a Trustee for the Sunshine Fund I worked with the Board to set a new strategic direction for the charity, leading to a 40% uplift in income through Trust grants and donations. I also oversaw a rebrand including the development of a new website and provided support with issues management.

I was a member of the CIPR Executive Board from January 2008-2010 with responsibility for the regions and nations. I stepped down in 2010 to carry out the CIPR's 'Volunteer Review'. I was later re-elected to the Executive Board and Council during which I helped oversee a change in governance and modernise the institute.

The role of an executive board member at the CIPR is, amongst other things, to promote the success of the Institute, ensure its strict governance and to promote the high levels of competence, ethics and knowledge held by members. It is also to educate about how PR can benefit the wider business community and lead to organisational growth.

The Trader course run by Common Purpose was instrumental in building my leadership abilities and wider network within the North East. Participation positively impacted the type and nature of the work I now carry out both at work and in society and provided a new perspective on life generally.

Sarah Waddington CBE is an experienced management consultant, chartered public relations practitioner and social mobility activist. 

She works within the wider business marketplace and as a professional adviser to creative agencies and comms teams. Her Free To Thrive service helps busy agency owners (especially parents) deal with overwhelm. 

A thoughtful strategist, strong communicator and the nemesis of group think, Sarah’s input as a non-executive director (NED) enables organisations to focus on market exploitation and exploration to create long-term value for stakeholders. 

She is an IoD ambassador and has over 20 years' experience in helping organisations to articulate their purpose, create value and deliver social impact.

Wherever an organisation is in its lifecycle, Sarah works with management teams to define goals and guiding principles, ensure strong governance, optimise performance and build reputation and trust.

A pioneer of best practice, she was awarded the CIPR’s Sir Stephen Tallents Medal for exceptional achievement in public relations and is the winner of the PRCA’s Outstanding Contribution in Digital Award. Her CBE was awarded in June 2021 for services to public relations and voluntary sectors.

She is a strong advocate of accountable leadership and women in business and believes in helping young talent break through. 

Sarah is a Past President of the CIPR, a PRCA Fellow, a member of the Northern Power Women Power List, features on Provoke Media’s Innovator 25 EMEA 2021 list and is a regular speaker at industry events. 

She spearheaded and led the CIPR's gender policy work from 2014 onwards and is the founder and editor of #FuturePRoof, a series of books and community aimed at reasserting the role of public relations as a management function and making thought leadership and best practice accessible to all.

In 2021, Sarah co-founded Socially Mobile with her husband Stephen to improve social mobility within the PR industry. 

A Chartered Director, Sarah holds the IoD's Diploma in Company Direction and is a graduate of Oxford Saïd’s Executive Leadership and Cambridge Judge’s Steering Complex Projects programmes. She completed her Non-Executive Director training with NEDA at the London Stock Exchange and holds a certificate in Organisational Leadership from the Institute of Leadership and Management.
