What's up! I'm Josh 👋

I've been a builder my whole life. In grade school, I made board games to play with my friends. In high school, I wrote short stories and a novel. I've drawn and painted since before I can remember.

14 years ago, I founded my first startup, raised funding, hired engineers, and brought my vision to market. This ignited my passion for tech.

Next, I managed a team of 36 engineers at a publicly traded SaaS company. 

Since then, I've started 3 other companies and led teams in product management, enterprise customer success, and sales. I built 3 GTM motions from the ground up and led Lavender to $1 million ARR + their series A before striking out on my own as a fractional operator and advisor.

I dream of creating new technology that changes the world, together with my friends and network.

I got in a debate with my dentist today. 
As a newer patient, he doesn't know me yet. As he went over my chart with some ideas for a longer term dental plan than just the teeth cleaning done, he made a comment that he was not like a "salesman." 

I said, "Excuse me? A salesman?" 
He said, "Yea, those folks that lie and rip people off." 
Ouch. 
Speaking on behalf of every decent seller anywhere, it got a little heated as I educated him on "good sellers" versus the bad ones he is referring to. 
He said, "Well I just don't see it that way - they're all con-artists." 

I got him to tell me about his one year stint as a salesman when he got out of the military and worked for a hot tub spa company that "padded the invoice" on every deal the owners could get away with. 

So here it is at the end of 2025 heading into 2026. I'll say it loud and clear: Selling is an admirable profession. 
Bad selling is the icky stuff we see in movies and some TV episodes. 
If you are a sales professional, know that the bias for lack of trust, honesty, and ethics still persists. 
Be in high integrity. Be honest. Add value. Teach and help. 
That is what a true professional seller does. 
Selling is helping. 
My dentist is a goof. I may not even go back there because he was so adamant about his viewpoint.

"I don't need another dashboard. I need direction."

That's what a senior sales leader told me this morning, and it hasn't left my head since.

"I can tell you our conversion rates, our sales cycles, who's performing well, who's not. What I can't tell you — is why."
