It's so easy to second guess yourself when you:

These 7 mental models can change that:

1. OODA Loop (John Boyd)
→ A loop to help you think fast and stay sharp.
Observe. Orient. Decide. Act. Repeat.

2. First Principles Thinking
→ Break things down to raw truths and rebuild from scratch.

3. Six Thinking Hats (Edward de Bono)
→ Switch between logic, emotion, and creativity instead of mixing them up.

4. 80/20 Rule (Pareto Principle)
→ Focus on what really moves the needle. Drop what doesn’t.

5. Root Cause Analysis (Sakichi Toyoda)
→ Ask ‘why’ until you land on the real problem.

6. Occam’s Razor
→ The simplest answer is often the right one. Don’t overcomplicate it.

LinkedIn is dead....

According to everyone on LinkedIn. 

Every year, people will become motivated to post on here. 
Often they'll see momentum fast. 

But then change happens...

A new format or algorithm change arrives
And often people aren't fast enough. 

They will continue to use the same techniques as before. 
And their results and motivation will start to diminish. 

But here's the brutal reality...

LinkedIn (like most social platforms) change ALL the time. 
To keep up you need to adapt fast and be very resilient.

So here's 6 tips for staying on top of the changes 
And how to adapt fast. 

1. Kill the ego 

- Understand that the algorithm doesn't care about you 
- The more sharable the content, the likely it is to perform

2. Always keep audience at the top of mind 

- Your content should always serve your audience 
- Think about the psychology of how your content stops the scroll

3. Study the best people in your industry 

- Great creators adapt fast. So follow those who adjust at speed 
- If someone changes up, check it out and break down why

4. Experiment all the time

- Do not continue to use the same format if it doesn't work 
- Treat each post like an experiment and test different variables

5. Accept things with a pinch of salt 

- There is a lot of misinformation spread on here 
- What will work for others may not work for you

6. Play the long game 

- Remember 0.1% growth compounds daily 
- Those who quit, never see the benefits

So I think I'm about to do the most stupid thing I've done. 

And I'm really not ready for it... 

Running 10k every single day for 30 days.

Here's the story: 

A few days ago I was chatting to my good friend Angus Parker about my total running KM for the year. 
I had done just under 700km. 

(Not bad for something I've been doing just for my silly lil brain health) 

But something annoyed me... 

I was 300km off of a wonderfully round 1000km. 

I then thought "how hard could that be in one month?" 
After few quite delusional afterthoughts, I thought why not go for it. 

And so... December300 is born. 

10k a day, every single day, until the end of the month. 

Now I don't just want this to be a personal challenge for me. 

I want to invite anyone else who wants to do it with me!

In this brief role, I was responsible for organising, documenting, and sending off sample fabrics to our clients in the UK. This first involved prospecting clients, qualifying them, and reaching out to new leads via cold calling, and cold emailing, in an effort to attract new business.

These are the skills AI can't replicate (yet):

1. Emotional Intelligence 🧠
↳ Reading the room beats reading the manual.
↳ Understanding what people actually need.

2. Creative Problem-Solving 💡
↳ AI gives you answers. Humans ask better questions.
↳ Connect dots that most people (and bots!) miss.

3. Genuine Curiosity 🔍
↳ Not Google-it curiosity. Deep, relentless curiosity.
↳ The kind that makes you dig until you find gold.

4. Adaptability at Speed ⚡
↳ The rules change weekly now. Not even kidding.
↳ Build that urgency muscle - you'll go far.

Here's my plea to every hiring manager.

✅ Hire the person who asks unexpected questions.
✅ Hire the person who challenges your thinking.
✅ Hire the person who brings energy to the room.

Because in an AI-dominated world...
The most human qualities become the most valuable.

And to every job seeker feeling overwhelmed:

Yes, optimise for ATS and use AI tools to your advantage.

But more importantly...

→ Build genuine connections (AI can't network for you).
→ Share your real story (AI writes generic ones).
→ Show your personality (AI has none).

The future demands we master both skillsets at once.
Human creativity and artificial intelligence. 
Not one or the other. Both.

I spent years striving for "perfection."

Honestly, that was my biggest mistake.

I was a classic serial overplanner.
Google Docs, Notion pages, Trello boards... you name it.

Eventually, I came to the realisation we all come to:
If you're not making mistakes, you're not moving forward.

Truthfully, big change always comes with fear attached.

I think this is the biggest problem with schools in 2025.

We're taught theory, and sometimes, practice.
But mistakes aren't actively encouraged. They should be.

Take it from me:

❌ I failed on LinkedIn for years... 
✅ Until 2024, I now have 82,442+ followers.

❌ I changed direction multiple times post-graduation...
✅ I'm now a leading figure at a high-growth startup.

❌ I used to be, quite frankly, a terrible leader.
✅ Now I feel more competent at leading and delegating.

I wouldn't be where I am without the errors I made!

If you have self-limiting beliefs or fear of failure...
You will not achieve the success you're after.

At the end of each week, try this exercise:

1. Reflect on your week overall.
2. Write down 3 mistakes you made.
3. Create an action plan to fix the error.

Most people want to feel like warriors.

Few are willing to train like one.

Saw this from the big boss Nader Alnajjar and had to reshare!

This is one of the biggest killers of any career:
➡️ Lacking a singular focus and discipline to boot.

We all have distractions.

→ Notifications on our phones.
→ Friends wanting to hang out.
→ New ideas/plans to work on.

The top 1% are aware of that fact...
And actively avoid all of them!

(Not to say you need to become a boring recluse!)

That's where The Samurai Mindset comes in.

Use it to master your craft and accelerate progress:

1. Pain is not the enemy.
↳ Pain is part of the price. Avoiding it is more expensive.
↳ Do the thing, even when it feels hard.

2. Focus is your sword.
↳ If your mind is scattered, you've already lost.
↳ Be mindful of what you give your attention to.

3. Discipline > Motivation.
↳ Discipline shows up without permission.
↳ Set routines that don't rely on how you feel.

4. Train without a crowd.
↳ Growth happens in silence, not on stage.
↳ Do the work when no one is watching.

5. Master yourself first.
↳ Control your impulses or they'll control your outcomes.
↳ Track what triggers you and learn to pause.

6. Think long, act daily. 
↳ The warrior doesn't rush, but he never misses a day.
↳ Forget overnight wins; stack small actions over time.

7. Stay sharp in peacetime.
↳ Comfort is where most people lose the battle.
↳ Keep improving when things feel easy.

You obviously don't need to become a samurai.
But the mindset will help you in your career!

Get your clarity, cut what doesn't matter, and move forward with laser-like precision.

The Samurai Mindset

The one non-negotiable for career success:

Being easy to work with.

Reading the quote back, it actually sounds counterintuitive.

Shouldn't you just focus on your own growth to succeed?
Be a little selfish so-and-so?

Alas, I've learned that the opposite is true.
When you help other people, they help you.

Especially if that person is one or two steps ahead of you!

I started applying this principle by:

→ Sharing value publicly on LinkedIn.
→ Offering help for free in my network.
→ Doing my utmost to help my colleagues.

The results of that have been genuinely outsized.

Especially that first point. 

I help others publicly, and in return, I have built trust.

The great part is, it doesn't need to be grand gestures!

Small (but consistent) acts of generosity is the key:

✅ Comment on someone's post when it deserves more eyes
✅ Make that warm intro without financial compensation
✅ Give credit loudly and critical feedback in private
✅ Teach what you know without gatekeeping

The compound effect is extraordinary.

It's built me almost 86k followers and a world-class network.
(All in 18 months, starting from scratch)

Start thinking of other people's success as your success.

It creates a beautiful flywheel of growth.

It's quite easy in our careers to follow bad habits.
And not spend time investing in some of the good ones.

Alas, those who win in life - they play by a different ruleset.

Whether they realise it or not, they live by certain laws.

These are the ones that the top 1% follow ruthlessly:

1. The North Star Principle
↳ First and foremost, know where you're going.
↳ It's easier to achieve your goals with a clear vision.

2. Parkinson's Law
↳ "Work expands to fill the time available for its completion."
↳ Therefore, you need to set aggressive deadlines.

3. The Law Of Diminishing Returns
↳ More effort sometimes means even less returns.
↳ Learn to stop when effort no longer means reward.

4. The Peter Principle
↳ "In a hierarchy, people rise to their level of incompetence."
↳ Keep learning. Titles do not equal capability.

5. Pareto Principle (80/20 Rule)
↳ 80% of outcomes come from 20% of inputs.
↳ Focus on the 20% of actions that create the most value.

6. Gall's Law
↳ Complexity comes needlessly from simplicity.
↳ Start simple and embrace MVP-first thinking.

7. The Principle Of Least Effort (Zipf's Law)
↳ People will choose the path of least resistance.
↳ Design things that have little to no friction.

8. Goodhart's Law
↳ Don't simply chase after a KPI.
↳ Focus on the real value add behind them.

People don't shout about these laws.
But successful people follow them to a tee!
