Nine years ago I was the guy who was too shy to speak to people at networking events. Even when I did pluck up the courage, it felt all people valued was my job title or my budget rather than me as a person.

I knew I wanted to meet other marketers and learn about marketing in a safe space, so when I couldn't find it, I made it.

The Marketing Meetup is a positively lovely community for marketers. (Basically, we all look after each other and treat one another as people first 😊)

Through good luck and hard work, in the years since, I (as part of a big team effort!) have built a global community of 50,000+ lovely marketers with a social following of 250k+.

I created Elite Air's campaign strategies from concept to curation using quirky and engaging content. I liaised with influencers and the press, and wrote their newsletter and blog. I managed all online customer interactions via their social channels.

I was part of a team of experts that strived to curate a collection of special places to eat and drink. 
 We produced a best-selling annual pubs and inns guide book. This was a deeply varied and fulfilling role supporting  Sawday's members by helping them to get the most from their membership and accreditation. I specialised in handling customer queries eloquently via phone & email, managed a team of inspectors and assigned inspections all over the UK, and supported the membership team. The role also involved writing, editing and proof-reading quirky copy and web content, processing applications and recommendations and managing content in a CRM system and online.

For years, Bristol has been synonymous as the spiritual home of hot air ballooning, but very few people know about the pilots inside the baskets. We want to change that.

Above Bristol produces, curates and commissions projects that centre around ballooning, Bristol and its residents. It gives balloonists a chance to tell the local community about their sport, hobby and passion. It provides a platform and context for their work, challenging and expanding expectations about the experience of flight and how the city is read from the sky.

The key aim is to bridge the gap between the people on the ground and in the sky, creating a chance to interact, through the display of objects, photos, stories and facts. It will show how inclusive/accessible the sport is, bringing ballooning to the public in ways that have not been previously explored.
