👋  I'm Joe. 

Nine years ago I was the guy who was too shy to speak to people at networking events. Even when I did pluck up the courage, it felt all people valued was my job title or my budget rather than me as a person.

I knew I wanted to meet other marketers and learn about marketing in a safe space, so when I couldn't find it, I made it.

The Marketing Meetup is a positively lovely community for marketers. (Basically, we all look after each other and treat one another as people first 😊)

Through good luck and hard work, in the years since, I (as part of a big team effort!) have built a global community of 50,000+ lovely marketers with a social following of 250k+.

Each week, we're lucky to have amazing guest speakers such as Mark Ritson, Rory Sutherland, Seth Godin and many more share time with our community - educating and connecting us all.

I speak and write about professional visibility and women’s leadership, exploring what it really takes to move from invisible to influential.

At the University of Warwick, I bridge the gap between academia and industry to create strategic partnerships that drive innovation, collaboration and real-world impact. I serve on the advisory boards for Warwick’s Health and Business, Manufacturing & Innovation Interdisciplinary Research Spotlights.

My talks draw on my experience of rebuilding a career across three countries later in life, and explore how influence, relationships and positioning shape who gets seen, heard and recognised. Performance gets you renewed, but presence gets you considered.

Alongside this, I founded the Healthcare & Innovation Women’s Leadership Network, an invite-only initiative bringing senior women from healthcare, industry and academia together to tackle the challenges in women’s health that no single organisation can solve alone.

What connects all of this is a conviction that who gets seen, heard and backed in organisations is rarely just about performance. Relationships, positioning and trust determine who gets the opportunity to create impact, and that’s as true in cross-sector partnerships as it is in women’s careers.
