Reported to the President and CEO, lead the Quality Engineering Division which includes Corporate Quality, Supplier Quality, Global Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. This was a global organization of 150 people across seven countries. Built a very strong global director and manager team.

•	Created a new Quality Management System, slashing lost sales 50% over 3 years

•	Overhauled and modernized the division, pivoting from a 1980’s mindset, establishing a new culture of designing-in quality vs. testing-in. Results boosted morale and respect with a purpose-driven mindset, lifting engagement scores from 70 to 85/100.

•	Rebuilt Quality management team and expertly delegated, placing the right people in the right roles, connecting to all components of the business on the executive team as a trusted advisor to the CEO.

Led 15 direct reports and 12+ product teams over 25 years, grossing >$1B USD.  Directed Wireless, Software and Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Project Management.

•	Transformed Shure product development from engineering-focused to customer-centric model by bringing lead sound engineers into the market research, prototyping, beta-testing and launch stages.  Moved Shure into a premier market position in the broadcast and live sound production industries.

•	Pioneered a new Product Validation Engineering group and Laboratory (PVE/PVL) focused on testing hardware and software together throughout the entire product design process.  Designed and constructed the lab, hired and trained the engineering department.  Introduced automated, robotic product testing for the first time at Shure.

•	Led Shure’s transformation from analog to digital technology in wireless microphones.  Produced a 10% yearly growth in wireless business. 

•	Created Shure’s first New Product Introduction (NPI) process, bringing product teams to manufacturing plant locations for prototype and pre-production product builds.

•	Architected the world’s first interference-proof wireless microphone.  Achieved first to market and set the standard for TV broadcasting, becoming the go-to product for the NFL, Olympics, and US Presidents.  Shure became the go-to brand for live broadcasts.

You’d probably introduce me to a few people, pair me with a buddy, and tell me to read your embarrassingly outdated intranet. We’d have lunch together and that would be it.

Or would I be put through an onboarding process where I learn the company business, its values, its customers, where to find answers to questions (on an awesome intranet), and meet all the members of my team in a department meeting?  

You can hire like crazy and invest in expensive software, but without good processes people don’t know what to do. And with work from home, this problem is 3X worse than it used to be.

Running a business without reliable processes is like operating a public transit system without maps.

Sure, you can rely on the same handful of A-Players to get stuff done, but that doesn’t scale. And it wears them out.

That’s why I build reliable processes. I like to get stuff done. And for things to work well, so I use processes to be efficient and achieve excellent results.

I engineer processes by combining my analytical problem-solving skills with my LEAN/AGILE experience. I see how a process fits into the bigger business picture which enables me to create the vision and get alignment. But my real superpower is creating process from the end user point of view.

Businesses that use standardized processes are more cost efficient, produce higher quality results, more innovative, manage risk better, allocate resources more effectively, and make better decisions than ones that don’t.

Bottom Line = good processes make businesses more money.
