I first set foot in the office at Steam in 2014, and have since been involved in developing recruitment and employer branding campaigns for amazing clients: pitching ideas, writing copy and scenarios, making graphics, and guarding concepts throughout the production process. How do you lend personality to your characters? What does tweaking with space, colour and proportions add to your storytelling? And how do you add a symbolic layer to your film? As a guest teacher at Open Studio, I helped talented young film makers develop their first film plans.

Nederlandse Filmacademie

Documentary maker Milou Gevers graduated in 2020 with "Why didn't you stay for me?", a touching documentary about young children that lost a parent to suicide. The film has a significant stop motion animation component and the NFA asked me to coach the art department during the build of the puppets and the nine (!) different sets, for which they had a really tight time frame. And they did so very well!

Big congratulations to all the makers on finishing this intensely emotional project, and with such a beautiful result. I'm really proud to have contributed to it, in a small way.

As an intern at NFTS in Beaconsfield UK, I got to work as supervising art director, model maker and chicken puppet maker for Kasia Nalewajka's grad animation short Pineapple Calamari (2014). Loved every bit of it. The animation premiered in Annecy and was subsequently selected for numerous prestigious festivals. It won several festival awards.

During our internship at Pedri Animation, Jesse Oudhof and I did an ultrashort animated bumper starring Tom Spooney, a character invented by the Frisian artist Botas. Jesse and I made the puppet, built the set and did a little test sequence in Dragonframe.

As an intern at submarine I was primarily a project member for the development of an interactive website accompanying a children's television show called ¡Hola Lara! for which I wrote game dialogues, reviewed web log posts and did some illustrations.

I started at ING Internet as an Incident Management employee, to make the change to Communications and Process Quality Management half a year later. 

Daily business: writing service & scope documents and project briefs, implementing process improvements, arranging assessments, making newsletters, setting up SharePoints, drawing silly comics, facilitating workshops and producing breathtaking excel sheets.
