We almost missed it.

And so did the client.

For months, we saw healthy traffic and conversions coming in from organic search.

Last night a little goal of ours became real.

Winning any award is great, but doing it in travel feels special. 

It is an industry we have supported since day one, so to be recognised specifically for travel SEO means a lot.

For me this is not just about one campaign.

It is the result of all the improvements the team have been making over the last couple of years.

- How we plan campaigns.
- How we set objectives.
- How we communicate with businesses.

The project presented several challenges, chief among them being the management of product data provided in PDF format by the client. These PDFs contained essential information about the products, including details like product names, descriptions, pricing, and images. However, the data was unstructured and required careful organization before it could be integrated into the WooCommerce API.

One of the most daunting aspects of the project was dealing with product variations. With more than 1000 variations per product and a substantial number of products in the catalog, managing these variations efficiently was a complex task. Each variation needed to be accurately represented and synchronized with the e-commerce platform to ensure a seamless shopping experience for customers.

I began by developing a robust data processing pipeline that could handle the PDF data effectively. This involved parsing the PDFs, extracting relevant information, and structuring it in a format compatible with WooCommerce's API requirements. Advanced data transformation techniques were employed to ensure accuracy and consistency across all product listings.

For managing variations, I implemented a systematic approach that involved categorizing and organizing variations based on predefined attributes. This allowed for automated generation and synchronization of variations with the main product listings, significantly reducing manual intervention and potential errors.

Conclusion:

Most SaaS founders are obsessed with launching fast.

But here's the problem:

Skipping MVP validation is one of the most expensive mistakes you can make.

Everyone loves the idea of "move fast and break things." But after working with dozens of startups, I've seen the real cost of skipping proper validation. It doesn't just hit your budget, it can actually stall growth for months.

When you launch without testing your core assumptions, you might build features no one cares about, attract the wrong users, or set the wrong pricing. Fixing these mistakes later is always more expensive, both in time and money.

I've seen founders spend 6 months and $100K on a product, only to realize the market wanted something different. That's not just frustrating, it's avoidable.

What works instead? A simple validation loop:
- Build the smallest version of your idea
- Put it in front of real users ASAP
- Listen, learn, iterate

That process saves you cash and keeps your team moving in the right direction.

It's not about moving slower. It's about making every step count.

Sometimes I wonder if AI is making us lazy. 

Not in the obvious way. We're automating the boring stuff, sure. But I catch myself leaning on it for things I used to sweat over. 

Like, should I really let a model write my onboarding emails? Or decide which features to prioritize? 

It's tempting. The promise of efficiency is hard to resist. But I worry about losing the fingerprints. The little quirks that make a product feel like it was built by someone who cared. 

I don't have a grand answer. I use AI every day. I love what it can do. But I try to leave a little room for the messiness. The human touch. 

Maybe that's old-fashioned. Or maybe it's just stubbornness. 

But I still believe the best products feel like someone was paying attention. Not just optimizing.

It might be the worst move you make this year. Let's get real about what everyone's ignoring.

But before investing time and money, ask yourself three simple questions.

First, does this solve a real problem for your users?  
It's easy to get distracted by hype. If the answer isn't a clear yes, take a step back.

Second, do you have the right data?  
AI needs clean, relevant data to deliver real value. If your data isn't ready, your AI feature will fall flat.

Third, do you have the expertise to maintain and improve it?  
Building an AI feature isn't a one-time event. You'll need to keep refining, supporting, and updating as your product evolves.

Most startups skip these questions.  
That's why so many AI launches end in frustration.

Take the time upfront.  
Ask hard questions now, avoid headaches later.

There’s a part of me that still wants to solve every problem with code. 

It’s almost a reflex. See a bottleneck? Write a script. User confused? Add a feature. But the longer I do this, the more I realize that not every problem is a technical one.

Sometimes, the real issue is a process that’s broken, or a conversation that never happened. Sometimes it’s just a misunderstanding that got baked into the product.

I used to feel a little lost when the answer wasn’t code. Like I was missing the point of my own job. But now, I see it as part of the work. 

Building great products isn’t just about shipping features. It’s about understanding people. And that’s a lot messier than any codebase I’ve ever seen.
