Last week, I talked to a marketing agency owner in the construction + repair space.

He told me:
“Your edits look different from what my editor does.”

So I did what I always do.

I opened his Instagram.
Both pages.

Personal page.
Company page.

And in 5 minutes, the issue wasn’t “editing style.”

It was alignment.

His goal was simple:
Improve my editing.

But his content was doing the opposite.

It was optimized for looking busy.

Not for making the right buyer feel something.
Not for holding attention.
Not for driving a DM.

Here’s what the audit revealed:

On the personal page:
→ hooks that didn’t match the offer
→ no clear promise in the first 3 seconds
→ pacing that felt random, not intentional
→ too much talking before the point landed

On the company page:
→ edits were inconsistent across videos
→ no repeatable structure for recognition
→ “not so nice clips” and no buyer moment
→ no bridge from views to inbox inquiry

So we mapped his goal properly.

Not “better edits.”
Better outcomes.

We aligned his editing to one job per video:

→ attract the right local buyer
→ build trust fast with proof
→ start a conversation 

Then we built a structure that he can repeat:

→ first 2 seconds: buyer pain or moment
→ next 6 seconds: one clear claim
→ next 10 seconds: proof (job site, before/after, numbers)
→ last 5 seconds: simple next step (question, not pitch)

Because editing isn’t just “style.”

Editing is a strategy you can feel.

And when it’s aligned, the content stops being content.
It starts becoming a system.

One piece of content that makes a prospect think:
“that’s exactly my situation” will beat 100 posts that are merely consistent.

My rule before posting anything:

Is this worth stopping for…
for the person who could actually pay us?

If not, analyze it again. 

Fix the gap.
Fix the messaging
Fix the point of view.

Because the goal isn’t more content.

Nor in the first hand is to go viral.

You need recognition.

Most LinkedIn short-form 
fails for one reason:

Then I realized:

Buyers don’t reward effort.
They reward clarity.

So I cut the busywork.

Now I do this instead:

→ talk to people I actually respect
→ post like a human, not a brand deck
→ say the thing I’d say on a call
→ build recognition before I ever DM
→ track what creates conversations
→ start 3 real convos a day

Less activity.
More replies.
More calls.

Honest question, founders: 

What’s one LinkedIn “rule” you ignored that helped you more?

The “cheap likes” era of LinkedIn is over.

And honestly?

Good.

For a while, you could post something safe…

get likes…
feel productive…
and still have zero buyers in your inbox.

That era trained people to optimize for applause.

Not trust.
Not pipeline.
Not reputation.

So we got 2020–2025 content like:

Stop using compliments as your opener.

(I did this before, but I realized that...)

“Love your content.”
“Excited to connect.”
“Been following for a while.”

Nobody feels seen by that.

It doesn’t warm anything up.
It just signals: copy-paste.

And your buyer has seen it
a hundred times this week.

Here’s the rule I follow:

If you can’t point to something real...

Don’t write the message yet.

No generic praise.
No fake excitement.
No “great insights.”

Do this instead w/o AI:

Lead with a specific observation.
Something they actually did.

Then ask one clean question.
A question that matches their situation.

That’s it.

(Then use AI to refine your thoughts.

Because the goal of a first DM
is not to impress them.

It’s to prove you’re paying attention
without trying too hard.

Examples you can steal:

“saw you’re hiring for ___ right now.
Are you building content to support that?
Or is it mostly outbound?”

“Noticed your videos get views,
but your offer isn’t obvious on the profile.
Are you trying to drive calls from LinkedIn,
or just build awareness first?”

“Your last post got a lot of applause.
Curious, are those the people who buy?
Or mostly peers?”

If you can’t write something like that... 

You’re not “networking.”

You’re mediocre.

Most coaches think viral content means "posting more".

It's not.  

It's about opening.  

Opening what?  

→ Curiosity  
→ Conversations  
→ The next step  

Most content isn't bad.  

It just doesn't open anything.  

It's stuck.  

Not because you lack value.  

Because you create content that closes, not opens.  

I was posting daily motivational quotes, tips...
 
and wins, yet my inbox stayed empty.  

No trust. 
No interest. 
No conversations.  

I thought more posts, reels...  

And videos would help.  

They didn't.  

No DMs. No leads.  

I kept asking:  

What am I doing wrong?  
Do I sound like an expert?  
Should I delete this?  
Does anyone care?  

I realized:  

Most content tries to impress, not invite.  

It looks valuable...

But it never opens the next step.  

No curiosity. 
No triggers for DMs.  
No invisible hand pulling people closer.  

It didn't OPEN.  

So I changed my approach.  

Instead of asking:  

How to look good?  
What should I post?  
What's trending?  


I asked:  

What subtle signal will make them reply?  
What story does my client need?  
What belief needs to shift?  


I focused on ONE purpose:  

TO OPEN.  

Trigger the next step.  
Open a conversation.  
Create curiosity.  


And here's the truth:  

- A post becomes a conversation.  
- A conversation builds trust.  
- Trust turns into clients.  

You don't need to post daily.  
You don't need hours of editing.  
You don't need to sound like everyone else. 

You need content that opens.  

Opens a seat.  
Opens a space
Opens a moment  

"Okay, I've been watching...  
How do we work together?"  


There's no more content you need.  

It's more OPENINGS.  

Start the conversation.  
Open the door.  
Get the client.  

That's all it takes.  

Okey?

Scripted video content is dead.

I'm not saying "scripts don’t work."

But here's what I see:

founders, coaches, and consultants
are using AI scripts to sound “perfect.”

(but we know it hahaha...)

You sound the same.

- Same perfect sentences.
- Same empty results.
- Same pacing.
- Same hook.

But buyers don’t DM.
So you get views.
Maybe likes.

I'm not saying don't use those proven formats. 

You still can!

Because your buyer isn’t thinking:

“Ohhh, he is smart.”

They’re thinking:

“Pfff, this feels like just another recycled content.”

Here’s what excessive AI does to your videos:

→ removes your edge
→ removes your real examples
→ removes your natural wording
→ makes every point sound safe
→ trains your audience to scroll

Again, I'm not saying “don’t use AI.”

My point is: "Stop letting AI be your voice."

Use AI as an outline tool.

Not a script to read.

What to do instead (so you sound human):

→ write 3 bullet points, not paragraphs
→ record it like a voice note to one person
→ keep one messy line that feels like you
→ add one real example from this week
→ cut the filler in editing, not in writing
→ end with one question that earns a reply

If your video doesn’t make a buyer think:

“Wait… that’s my situation.”

It won’t create calls.

Real talk:

Polishing is easy now because of AI.
The human brain is different.

And being different is what gets DMs.

That is the reason why businesses are 
leaning more on a podcast. 

(Especially here on #LinkedIn.)

Be honest: 

Are you using AI to speed up content…
Or to avoid sounding like you?

Me: 50-50 chance. Im not a hyprocrite haha.

Everyone will tell you to post more videos
so you can get more calls.

Nobody tells you what breaks in between.

Nobody tells you what happens to:
→ your buyer's to next step
→ your buyer’s attention
→ your buyer’s trust


Feel me?

Because the gap is not "consistency."

You can be consistent but no result.

When you go deeper you will realize that its the alignment. 

Few notices or maybe no one would say it here...

Most founders, coaches, and consultants
are doing “content.”

But their content is not moving people
through a real buyer journey.

So what you get is predictable:

→ views from the wrong target market
→ comments from random people
→ saves that never turn into inquries
→ a profile that looks super active
→ a calendar that stays is empty

Here’s what’s usually missing
inside the middle of the system:

→ your message is not landing clean
→ your content is only for awareness levels
→ your video hide the value and moment
→ your offer is not obvious and valuable
→ there’s no bridge into conversation

That’s why you feel like you’re “showing up”
but nothing is happening.

The solution is easy to say but hard to see alone:

not content alone
but content path.

A path that starts with:

who you help + what they’re stuck in

Then moves through:

- growth content that gets attention
- authority content that builds trust fast
- personal content that makes you memorable

And ends with:
one clean next step that makes replying feel safe.

That’s what an audit shows fast.

Not “post more.”
Not “try a new hook.”
Not “be consistent.”

It shows the leak.
