I support about 900 end users across 60 companies.

Everyone started to get their own domains at the end of the 90s.  Now, a lot of those law firms, accounting firms, and other small businesses are closing for retirement. What does that mean?  A domain with 25 years of solid history is available for sale to any malicious actor who wants that reputation score to bypass your antiquated spam security.  It happened today.  Client got emails from an attorney who retired last fall.  The bad part was that they were able to keep the M365 tenant and address book from his email.  Client was confused why she would get the OneDrive share link from someone she hadn't spoken to in years and asked us if it was phishy.  It was.  

Malicious actors like to send links to the malicious files this way because of email protection. Always be vigilant,  but you need other layers of security too.
