As part of BT Sport’s broadcast agreement with the National League, 25 live games will be broadcast next season, in addition to a new 30-minute highlights show to be aired on Sunday nights and repeated through-out the week.
I offered the opportunity to train with BT Sport, in areas including operating equipment, filming techniques, conducting interviews, editing footage and delivering content to the broadcaster. They will then go on to produce highlights of all Dover Athletic’s home games.

This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for me to receive training and real-world experience.

When it's 3am but you just thought of a post idea for a client 🙂‍↕️

LinkedIn is interesting because what do you mean I have nearly 30k connections but always see the same 3 people's posts in my feed?







Edit: Like 16k connections (I looked at followers earlier, but same question remains..)

How life feels when you accept that not everyone holds the same opinion as you, and you don't actually have to make it your life's mission to change everyone's mind 💜

Things that I thought would ruin my life but didn't?

- My first and only B+ on a high school report card

- Dropping my history of cooking college class after the withdrawal deadline

- Not getting accepted into a private high school

- Switching majors with less than a year left until I was done with that degree 

- Realizing I was bad at an instrument I thought I’d be great at

- Outgrowing a 12-year friendship that once felt like it would last forever 

- Taking a job that wasn’t the “right” move on paper

- Saying no to opportunities everyone told me to say yes to

- Launching a business after doing a few weeks of prep work and having no business plan on paper

- Becoming a marketer even though I got a Master's Degree in Political Science (thought I'd be fighting human trafficking internationally by now, but here we are)

- Letting go of versions of myself that I spent years on

- Getting rejected for roles that I was really, really excited for 

Somewhere along the way, I learned that “this will ruin my life” usually just means “this is uncomfortable and doesn't align with my initial plan". 

And discomfort is a terrible fortune teller.

What did you think would ruin your life.. That absolutely didn’t?

I've grown. I'm a different woman than I was then. We all change.

But the good news.. Is Retold is here in 2026 😏

I don’t think AI will ever replace marketers. But some jobs? Already halfway there.

This was our waiter at lunch the other day.
Polite. Efficient. No small talk. No tipping.

And not human.

Me and my friend? We didn’t hate it.

I care a lot about the human element, just not for every interaction. 

Taking an order and dropping off food doesn’t need a personality attached to it, at least for me. 

And when I think of how out of hand tipping culture has gotten in some countries.. I think maybe robot waiters are the answer 🤷

How about you, where do you draw the line?

“You’re so lucky you're extroverted, Marina!”

Thanks! That’s the end result of a very specific character arc.. 

It started in elementary school, when my 'friends'  (one of whom tried to schedule a call with me on LinkedIn a few years ago) noticed I was mirroring them just to fit in. They pointed it out. Repeatedly. Which is a great way to make a kid hyper-aware of everything they ever say or do. 

So I course-corrected.

From that point on, my goal was simple. I wanted to disappear into the background. Be quiet. Don’t stand out. Don’t give anyone material. Get good grades, get a job, and never see these people again once school is over.

And my strategy worked. 

Fast forward a few years to college and suddenly I’m “confident".

“Outgoing"

“Great with people".

What you’re actually seeing is someone who spent years learning how to read a room and control how they’re perceived because not doing so once came with consequences.

So yes. I can talk to anyone now, which can be really convenient. 

But it wasn’t born from being naturally out there or social. 

Like marketing, it was something I learned. But unlike marketing, it came out of sheer necessity.

The things that look effortless and lucky are often the ones resulting from years and years of hard work and effort. 

Don't forget that next time you call someone lucky for being a certain way 💜

When someone DMs me a pitch and tries to build trust by name-dropping random influencers they've worked with, and I'm just like..

Q: Is Dutch easy to learn if you speak English? 
A: No 🥲 And since 90%+ of the country also speaks English to some extent, it's really hard to practice. Locals are quick to switch back to English when they catch you struggling. 

Q: What's the best part of living in the Netherlands? 
A: Hard to pick just one. I'll give you a few! The stunning architecture and the history. Walkable cities. The ease of travel around Europe via planes, buses, and trains. Weekend markets. 

Q: How does food compare to the US? 
A: The food standards are much higher, which means that the average food item or meal is of higher quality than in the US. However, Dutch cuisine itself.. Is not exciting 😅

Q: Is it hard to get work as a foreigner? 
A: Compared to your home country.. Probably, yes. Speaking Dutch (and honestly, being Dutch) is seen as an advantage quite frequently. But compared to other European countries, it's easier. That's because a good amount of office jobs don't require Dutch skills. Plus, Dutch employers are frequently quite receptive of foreign degrees.

Q: What are your top 3 favorite Dutch cities?
A: In no particular order: Maastricht, Leiden, and Amsterdam.

Q: Is the weather bad? 
A: Not if you love grey skies and rain! Let's just say.. You learn to romanticize rain, and you start buying very, very good coats. 

Q: Would you recommend the Netherlands as a country for expats?
A: Yes! As someone who's traveled to around 20 countries, I can definitely give you a resounding yes. At least try it out. It's definitely not for everyone, but even for a year or two, it's worth trying out if you have such a chance 😊

Would you ever consider moving abroad?

Them: Wait, so you have a Russian last name, am American accent, but a Dutch passport? How'd that happen?

Me:
