👋 WHY ME?

After I sold my first startup (Paladin), several founder friends reached out to me. They wanted to know what it was like and what I learned in the process.

A few of them were thinking about selling their companies and asked if I would help. After all, I understood the industry and probably knew most of the potential buyers.

So I agreed to help a few of those friends and found myself with a new side hustle as a boutique investment banker.

After cutting my teeth on a few deals, I realized how much I love working with entrepreneurs, so I made it official and launched my own M&A advisory practice: Quartermast Advisors.

Led research studies including the development of YouTube’s YT to TV Broadcaster Research study with Nielsen. This research study included 3 years worth of YouTube and Nielsen data and was featured on AdWeek. It showed how YouTube drives awareness and ratings off-platform and helps monetize global fan communities.  A key finding was how viewers who watch a show’s content on YouTube are +33% more likely to watch the show on TV. 

Led several industry wide events and workshops for YouTube’s top partners in news, publishing and creators including 1) YouTube News Summit with partners from the Verge, Vice, Mashable, Complex and The Young Turks, 2) YouTube Digital Publisher Summit with partners from BuzzFeed, Conde Nast, Tastemade, Vox, Frederator and Hearst and 3) Creator Business Building Workshop Series including Mythical Entertainment, Donut Media, Night Media, a16z, UTA and Creator+. 

Negotiated and closed several of YouTube’s most important deals including shopping/e-commerce, VR, live streaming, YouTube TV, and various funded programs (shorts, originals, content innovation program).
